The Demographic Imperative is crucial for intercultural competence seen from the recent mistakes of an uneducated spokesman, Miley Cyrus. From her last racy performance to this year’s racist lingo and attire, Cyrus demonstrated a perfect example of the horrible ignorance to the demographics of an audience. Increasing in diversity, the demographics of the United States have changed dramatically over the past few decades; “The U.S. population is now more than 308 million, of which 62.3 percent are European American, 16.3 percent are Latino, 12.6 percent are African American, 4.8 percent are Asian American, and 1.1 percent are Native American. About 2.9 percent of people identify themselves as belonging to two or more cultural groups. (Intercultural
To sustain someone’s interest is a difficult task. It is important to do so in just about every aspect of life. On a day to day basis, one must sustain the interest of many different people. It is especially important for writers to be able to sustain a reader or viewer’s interest. In Jonathon Swift’s “A Modest Proposal” and the well-known movie Mean Girls, both writers use a variety of satire to attract and sustain the reader’s interest.
When you see a solider in his or her uniform, you are proud that they are serving this country to protect our freedom, securing our country, and defending democracy worldwide. The solider can come from different branches of the Military. The one you might be familiar with is the U.S. Army. These soldiers are well respected and prepared to serve our country whenever and wherever needed, combat-ready at all times, and trained to counter any threat, anywhere. In 2007, the United States Army department published a recruitment ad for U.S.
The use of Pathos to create a sensation of trust in the Brainy Baby product. This trust was evoked by this well-known company that stated their product would make any baby smarter. The quote is " inspires logical thinking". If this product was truthful there would be thousands of little Einsteins running around. This product was tested and proven that it has the reverse effect Brainy Baby made babies a little bit slower at retaining things later. This video is supposed to help in "language" this plays on people's feeling that either their baby cries and just want them to talk or wishes their baby can get further in life. Sadly, too many of wishes and prayers this was proven as true. If parents want their child to get smarter teach them yourself

So within this article Liu is confronting a very substantial topic, which he asserts the problem of cultural diversity or the culture wars inside of the United States. Liu also expresses these examples in a way that the reader can absorb the details in a different style were the reader has to look at each example in a different aspect to fully understand what he is trying to stay. Liu evaluates E.D Hirsch and talks about the list. The list that every American should know, containing ten words that every citizen in America should know. Liu discourages people use Hirsch’s list because of the time differences between the past and the future, and how the culture war has progressed through time. Liu has evolved Hirsch’s idea and created something more modern that people can create their own list to show the people of America different opinions to have and no one is wrong or right that is what makes this list so influential. In the article, “Toddlers in Tiaras” by Skip Hollandsworth, the author’s main focus is to make the audience aware of the dangers involved in child pageantry, and how it can negatively impact the children who participate. People who enter their kids in these events don’t think to consider the consequences that result from pageant lifestyle. By incorporating strategies of ethos, pathos, and logos, he is able to make an effective point of argument to persuade the audience.
A prosecutor’s job is to find evidence to support his case against an individual accused of breaking the law while a defense attorney tries to present evidence to prove the innocence of the person accused. Neither can be truly be unbiased about their evidence but each of them is motivated to confirm a particular position. Much like a defense attorney, in his biography, Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer attempts to prove that McCandless’s tragedy was not due to his incompetence or lack of knowledge about the wild. He asserts emotions and rational onto McCandless’s experience as well as drawing similarities between his personal experience and McCandless’s in order to create a more sympathetic response from readers.

Throughout history, the biggest reforms in government, philosophy, and behavior have been made by freethinking and outspoken people. People such as Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela changed the world with their actions and words. While others, including Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Walt Disney implement their talents to business to change the world. All are spoken highly of and are highly regarded. One name that is wrongly ostracized from this list is Kanye West. Kanye West is an intelligent person whose actions and outbursts, despite the media’s attempts to make them look incoherent and uncivilized, actually come from a place of goodwill and promote a platform of freethinking.
Amy’s mother represents the immigrant parents and the aspirations they have for their children. Tan uses often uses repetition to demonstrate the beliefs of her mother and her state of mind. The United States of America has been called a “mixing pot” since the birth of the nation. Everyone, especially politicians and educators, will proudly declare that the U.S. is a land of unmatched diversity. The U.S. seems to always be portrayed as a highly cultural territory, harboring a vast population of many races. Admittedly, the United States has come a long in terms of eliminating racial barriers and pursuing equality. All around the world, America is seen as a country of colors, yet mass media does not recognize that fact.
The United States is a country that is often referred to as a melting pot because it has a mixture of people of all different ages, religions, and cultures. With such a wide variety of people from different backgrounds, it seems essential that cultural awareness and sensitivity is incorporated
Many people wish they can drop everything important to them and isolate themselves from society; very few people will even attempt this, but Chris McCandless breaks societal norms to accomplish this goal. Stanhope and Lancaster (2008) define vulnerable populations as “those defined at a greater risk for poor health status and health care access”(p.712). The role of a public health nurse in contrast to a vulnerable population is to establish interventions to help break the cycle of vulnerability thus aiding to eliminate health disparities within the population. The term “risk” helps public health nurses establish a person probability of something happening to them. The author will discuss vulnerability as discovered within a community based on surveying the community and establishing risk and interventions on the

Today the mainstream voice is frequently the reflection of the principles of what I would like to call a “cultural dappler”. A cultural dappler has virtually no conception of what the term truly means or the implications behind its usage. Consequently, they like the term out of ignorance or despise it out of misunderstanding. They believe that America is a multiculturalist’s society because of the increasing amount of people of color in the advertising, music, and television industries. They also see the growing willingness of people to dapple in the traditions of other cultural groups trying their food, clothing and exploring their various belief systems. However, this is not multiculturalism: it is cultural consumerism on its most superficial level.
