When and why, in your opinion, would it be ethically inappropriate to make use of MI? I agree with the reasons that Miller and Rollnick (2013) write about in their book. In no way should a person use this skill to better themselves nor get people to do things they aren't a fan of. These actions are just wrong in so many ways. Being a counselor already comes with power and trust, any of these would be an abuse of those. When in particular might it be inappropriate/appropriate to practice each of the four component processes of MI: engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning? Why? Like most things, there are good times to use things and bad times. That also applies to the four components of MI: engaging, focusing, evoking and planning. Miller
This is supervised and checked regularly by an accredited member of the BACP to ensure that the requirements of the BACP are being met. A person using counselling skills in other occupations may use similar methods but will not be formally using the guidelines and being assessed in such a way as that of a qualified counsellor. The intention of the use of the skills is also different. The counsellor and client relationship is a therapeutic one and both parties understand the potential or intended result of it, whereas using counselling skills may used for other purposes. For example, a person in a professional setting such as a people-management role may use listening, reflective and paraphrasing in a similar way to a counsellor yet the objective is different. The use of the counselling skills facilitates the relationship of the manager and the employee but there isn’t the intention behind it that there is between a counsellor and their client.
MILLERSBURG — A Big Priairie man on Tuesday was sentenced to local jail time for admittedly threatening to kill the mother of his unborn child.
As a professional school counselor, it's important to be competent in the profession that you're in and also abiding the code of ethics. I went to my state of Georgia's board of education website for school counselors, and I can upon a case dated back in 2006 that had something to do with a school counselor who was found to be incompetent in her profession. In the case of Julett Carnahan vs Butts County board of education, one of the reasons the board decided to discipline Carnahan was because they found her to incompetent as a school counselor. The case also stated the superintendent presented evidence that other faculty members did not believe her at all as a school counselor. Other evidence shows that she failed to meet with one student for a couple of days after being referred by someone, and it required consultation within 24 hours which is also an ethical violation (Julett Carnahan vs Butts County Board of Education, 2006).
MILLERSBURG — While the process has yet to be completed and one more public hearing has yet to take place, the Holmes County commissioners on Monday unofficially agreed to give the bulk of the county's Community Development Block Grant to fund improvements at the county home.
Evaluation as an end in itself is a very different process from counseling. Why would a counselor want to be an evaluator?

Firstly it’s important to distinguish between using counselling skills and being a counsellor. From my own research I think the distinction revolves
Leaders in the school have hard decisions to help make on a daily basis. They need to evaluate their decisions to make sure they are ethical and effective. Administrators need to listen to all sides of a situation and evaluate all options before they make a decision. This process is difficult because administrators need to make sure that all parties involved are satisfied with the decision that was formed.
Mental Health Counselor is the career I have decided to go for. It took me forever and a lot of thinking to decide exactly what I want to do with my life. I have dealt with depression, anxiety, self harming all within myself. I also dealt with watching my father abuse alcohol, and getting cancer and passing. My daughter is ADHD, ODD and suffers with anxiety. I also work in a group home taking care of mentally challenged people. Altogether I've dealt with a lot and I think experiencing everything I have, would make me understand and be a good mental health counselor.
“Standard 2.01(a) requires psychologists to “provide services, teach, and conduct research with populations and in areas only within the boundaries of their competence, based on their education, training, supervised experience, consultation, study, or professional experience” (Shiles, 2009). Counselors should remain inside their span of training, be mindful of the restrictions of his/her licensed expertise, be present at essential education programs and maintain their learning, use his/her own common sense, and be able to identify when referrals should be made. It should be the disposition of counselors to always value the mixture of their clientele, novices, and study partakers. The ACA Code of Ethics (2005) section A.4.b. Personal Values states, “Counselors are aware of their own values, attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors and avoid imposing values that are inconsistent with counseling goals” (Kaplan, 2014).
ETHICAL FRAMEWORK, LIMITS OF PROFICIENCY AND THE LIMITATIONS ON COUNSELLORS COMPARED TO OTHER PROFESSIONS THAT USE COUNSELLING SKILLS.
My main reason for wanting to counselor individuals, families, and groups is because I enjoy helping people and I would like to see them overcome their current issues. Also, I enjoy reading about psychology and counseling. Honestly, I am more passionate about studying the field of counseling than I am practicing it. I feel that my journey may lead me to researching. But throughout my career, I plan to display professionalism to help my clients.
I know how to listen, be persistent, trust worthy, and open minded. I also have had plenty of experiences that can help me to relate to other clients I may come in contact with. This will allow me to be more effective as a counselor. I have many goals as a young aspiring counselor. I think that the standards and goals I have for myself will allow me to uphold high standards for all my clients, which will show them that I believe in them. I have the personality, drive, and want to help people and this is why I chose the counseling profession. It will not always be easy, but it will always be rewarding knowing I did help someone, or at least tried to. It takes one person to make a positive impact and change someone’s life. I want to be that
Ratcliffe’s 3-i model lists three important components (interpret, influence, impact) that represent a true implementation of ILP. And for these
Counselors should have good knowledge on the topic /problem like compliance to medication. Some people do not take medication for the same reasons, while others demand medication. Understanding the factors why people may not do certain activities at specific time will help you to assist them better. Try to understand the feelings the patient is having in the counseling process. In other words put yourself in his/her position. Give the patient the opportunity to make
