Milton Hershey was born on September 13, 1857, in an old stone farmhouse built by his great grandfather near the little town of Derry church, Pennsylvania. On his way to becoming a successful chocolatier. Milton endured many challenges and struggles. He experienced a lot of childhood changes. Milton Hershey made mistakes and had failures along the way, to keep going and learned to make candy and to build his own company. When Milton Hershey was a child, he faced a lot of change. Back when Milton was seven years old, he started his education at the one room schoolhouse in Derry church. When he was eight, he moved to Rockridge School. Then when Milton Hershey was nine, he had moved several times, and when Milton had finished fourth grade, he dropped out of school. The story takes place in the poor areas in a small town located in Australia. Where the protagonist Ed Kennedy solves some of the message that he receives. But what if Ed lived in an area with a better economical stance? I think the story of the book would be much alike although the plot is played out in a different area. Because all humans, rich or poor always has different problems. The concept would therefor remain the same, but the messages would probably be more about money than the cost of the good. Ed would probably solve problem related to greed and to people who paying more attention to their career than their family and therefore doesn’t realize what should be the most important for them in their life. He was an older man that lived in the bunk house, who lost his hand in a work accident. He was considered a swamper, the man who cleans the bunkhouse. In Of Mice and Men, the narrarator implied that "The old man came slowly into the room. He has his broom in his hand."(Steinbeck 24). Candy was seen as old and disabled and not capable of performing certain jobs. Because of this, he was more likely to lose his job. Wealthier people don’t have to worry about money as often, so they experience life a little bit easier. Today, most men have the opportunity to have pretty settle jobs.
