The Hmong Culture is very interesting. Approximately 25,000 Hmong reside in Fresno, California. In the Hmong culture the men must pay a price for their wives. Usually the price for a bride often ranges from $3,000 to $10,000. Traditionally, the groom’s side of the family must go to the bride’s home and ask her parents for permission to be wed. After both sides reach an agreement, then the next day a feast is held to celebrate their engagement.

1. The Nacirema culture gradually developed into a market economy that is extremely devoted to daily rituals. The tribe's perspective towards the human body shows unusual and strange behaviors that they possess. They believe that the human body is hideous and is prone to illness and weakness. The Nacirema tribe also have an irrational fear regarding the mouth, because they believe that their teeth would fall out or their gums would bleed which shows their behaviors are vaguely eccentric. From my perspective, the ritual activity that involves washing a child's mouth to enhance moral behavior is fascinating, because they believe that a strong bond exists between oral and moral traits. The ritual ablution they perform on children is supposed to improve the ability to do what is right, no matter the situation.

You're probably wondering who are the Paleo-Indians? Well the Paleo Indians were known as Native Americans. Archeologists assume that the Paleo Indians, were sometimes referred to as Clovis people. The Paleo Indians lived 15000 B.C. to the end of the Pleistocene Ice Age at about 7,000 B.C. Paleo Indians were originally natives of Asia, who migrated to our continent near the end of the recent Ice Age. The Paleo Indians were believed to be nomadic, meaning they were always moving, so they traveled in small groups of 20 to 50 people. Since they were always on the move they traveled light.
While survival would have been a key goal for the first Tennesseans as the years went by, the four prehistoric tribes evolved and developed increasingly more advanced techniques to move from simply surviving to living. These four prehistoric tribes include the Paleo tribe, the Archaic tribe, the Woodland tribe and the Mississippian tribe. These tribes dealt with changing climates and fluctuating food sources, which defined their developing lifestyles and left clues for future generations to study and share.

Throughout the course of this semester Core 1 has given me opportunities to learn about many life relative topics. Some of the topics that have interested me were evolution, how people classify things; how religion and cultural beliefs influence the way we interpret meanings. As human beings we do not have the same cultural beliefs and do not do things the same ways. Many times we do not share the same values and see the world alike. Throughout the world there have been numerous groups of individuals who have had more than one belief and have had more than one cultural practice. We all have different perspectives on a single idea and it may be because of our past experiences. Understanding culture beliefs, early knowledge and environments are
Queen Elizabeth ruled England with success and stability for forty four years. However, her path to govern the country started out difficult and England had many rulers before she was crowned Queen. She was born to King Henry VIII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. At the age of only two, her mother was executed. Her father had wanted a son to rule his country and made both his daughters ineligible to rule.
While reading about the Nacirema culture, I was very shocked to hear their beliefs, rituals, and way of life. The first thing that stood out to me was the fact that they viewed the body as causing diseases, weakness and ugliness. Never before have I been taught about a culture that views human bodies so negatively. Second, it amazes me how much power the charms and magical potions have on these people. They truly believe that without these "magical potions" and "charms" they would die.Third, the whole "holy-mouth-men" concept baffles my mind. They believe that without these men, their gums would bleed and their teeth fall out. When in reality the "holy-mouth-men" cause the bleeding and take their teeth out. Even when they see these men

Ancient civilizations have had profound effects of what we know as the modern world today. The primary purpose for anything that lives is to survive. Throughout history animals, plants and humans have adapted to their surroundings. All living things have changed throughout time. The thing that differs humans from rest is, humans are more cognitively advanced. Over the course of time the shape and size of the human skull has changed. The size of the human brain has increased, which has allowed humans to adapt more to their surroundings. To survive, humans were making tools for hunting and to cut with. The closer you lived to the equator the darker your skin may have been, so you could adapt to the intensity of the sun’s rays. If you lived further
In society today, the discipline of anthropology has made a tremendous shift from the practices it employed years ago. Anthropologists of today have a very different focus from their predecessors, who would focus on relating problems of distant peoples to the Western world. In more modern times, their goal has become much more local, in focusing on human problems and issues within the societies they live.
