The agency I am interested in working for is the Minocqua Police Department. The Minocqua Police Department is minor compared to some of the bigger city police departments, such as Madison PD or Milwaukee PD. Right now the Minocqua police department is looking to hire. The applications are due on the 13th of April. I would love to work in the Minocqua area because it's where I grew up. I know the area very well, and I believe it has all the qualities I am looking for in a job. Minocqua has roughly 5,000 people living year round. To me, that is a perfect number. I appreciate the smaller communities because it gives me an improved chance of getting to interact with everyone. My main goal is to become a K-9 handler with the DNR department, but I want to start out working as a police officer. The department administration has 24 people working for them all together. Of the 24 there are only seven police officers not including the chief of police David Jager, detective sergeant, Dave Geiss, and lieutenant Jason Benbenek. Their mission statement is the following: The Minocqua Police Department will enhance the quality of life in the community through our service to the public, protection of persons and property, …show more content…
The mayor, Richard Johns calls it one of the favorites amongst the town. Families from out of state gather here because of the outstanding donuts. Minocqua is a big tourist town, with many activities for all ages. Minocqua has approximately 45 lakes,100 boat launches, 18 family campgrounds and 9 swimming beaches in just the Minocqua area alone. There is one high school, Lakeland High School In Minocqua there are around 2,079 households that are occupied. There are a total of 4,835 housing units which are used seasonally for resorts. That is around 2,000 more people in the summer months that come up to enjoy the Northwoods. The average household income is around
The article also discusses the challenges of attracting and recruiting police officers. Many police departments pay higher than the state police department, which tends to draw the police officers’ attention. Currently state police departments have to decide how to attract police
First, there is lack of information and knowledge on the right police training philosophy, learning approach and training program objectives (CALEA, 2010). This lack of knowledge has immense negative effects on police training, especially because it affects not only senior commanders of police departments but also management, police trainers and other staffs. The other ingredient to police training that lacks is community understanding and support for police training programs (Mitrani, 2014). It is found out that the communities that are served by officers do little to support or appreciate post-academy training programs, which have numerous benefits to communities (CALEA, 2010). For instance, post-academy and field training for newly posted officers helps in the utilization of individual and department creativity, stakeholder collaboration, and effective problem-solving skills and techniques that would improve communal safety and
I am interested in employment at Mayo Clinic so I can be a part of something with such a positive effect on the community. My background in working for the La Crosse County Health Department has given me the skills and the knowledge necessary to be successful at Mayo Clinic. Specifically, one of my duties included inputting collected data into various spreadsheets in order to keep track of our many tasks. My organizational skills allowed me to create redesigned spreadsheets that have improved the overall efficiency and usefulness of the collected information. These abilities would allow be to be a focused and hard-working employee.
My goal’s I attend to achieve in pursuing a certificate in Basic Law Enforcement are primarily to make an impact in the community. Furthermore, I enjoy the various jobs that Law Enforcement has to offer. Last reason, would be to be part of an exclusive organization that I can be proud of. My past experiences in my work history have been mostly related to customer service, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. I also have interacted with plentiful of people, on many different social levels and many diverse cultures.
I was hired in 2011 as a police officer for the City of Muncie. I started on second shift and had a variety of field training officers (FTO’s). The FTO’s were supposedly training me according to the department policies, but I often saw opposite practices. It was hard to know if the FTO’s valued their own work and a job well-done. They did not have consistent values
What many do not seem to realize is that a law enforcement agency is not a job, it is a career. One must truly be dedicated and determined to work in the field because it is all about your love for what you are doing.
I was born and raised in Midlothian, my father, who was the cheif of police in Grand Prairie always showed myself and others the up most respect and kindness. He taught me to always give back to the world. Unforanantly, he passed away when I was younger, but I'll always remeber what he stood for and why he became a police officer, and that was to give back and protect the people. I want the same thing in life, thats to be part of somthing bigger and better then myself, to give back, to make sure my familey can grow up in the same safe town I did, and know that they can sleep safe at night becuase I am on watch. It would be an absolute honor to serve with and be part of the Midlothian Police
The profession of policing derives its effectiveness from its ability to attract and employ quality individuals who will strive to better their community. Therefore proper recruitment and selection of officers is incredibly important to a police organization. Some major needs to Missouri’s recruitment process will be addressed in the following paragraphs.
As being a police officer becomes more and more scrutinized by the community and the media, it is difficult to find citizens to fill these positions. When a lot of what officers do day to day currently is continually watched, it makes it hard to please the community and also keep the safety of everyone, so it is ever more excruciating that officers stay safe. With our ever changing world police officers have to keep up as well to learn and adapt to how the world works to keep everyone and themselves safe. The Greeley Police department should provide more extensive training on educating officers to stay safer because it will keep officer safety a priority, create a better understanding as to why they should have body cams and dash cams, and learn to properly deal with mental health patients.
I aspire to be a cop who will serve and protect the people of Oconomowoc. I will pursue a beginning career as a patrol officer. My duties in Oconomowoc may include patrolling my designated area either by foot or automobile and perform routine traffic stops every or every-other day. However, one officer's day will include different tasks in comparison to an officer's day located in another county. Oconomowoc's population ranks smaller in comparison to an area such as Milwaukee. But officially, in five years I plan to be contributing my share of duties at a department by helping to protect and serve the community. My personal preference to where I start is unimportant, but after five years of building an established and positive working
In 1892, the Edmonton Police Department came into being. Over 100 years later, with 1400 sworn in members of the Edmonton Police Service proudly wear a shoulder flash with the EPS crest, symbolizing their allegiance to the profession of policing, the city of Edmonton, and its citizens.
Numerous police agency’s and police officials work on a distinctive local, state, and federal level and role. It has its individual area, sectors, and function, and work according to local streets parts inside policing. In order for any local, state, and federal police division to work successfully it must hire chiefs, deputy’s, and sheriffs who retain leadership and who uses creative thinking skills to teach comprehensive, and aggressive instruction to make the police division a tougher department by holding all its workers tasks for doing his or her job according to its agency’s guidelines and procedures known as code of conduct. “Municipal police work for municipalities such as towns or cities, county police and deputy sheriffs work for counties, state police work for states, and federal police work for the federal government. Some have the same duties as one another or very similar duties, and some have different or additional duties. Their jurisdiction is sometimes the main difference. For example, a municipal police officer normally has primary
When I graduated the police academy, I was 2nd in my class of 43 officers; and, I obtained a nearly perfect score of 98.14%. I have received 5 awards for courage and workethic while employed with my department. After completing a written exam and a grueling assessment center, I was scored as number 1 on the promotional list for the rank of Sergeant. The list was comprised of over 60 candidates many of whom have far more experience and education; to include several with master’s degrees and one with a doctorate degree in criminal justice.
The idea behind the article was to identify small-town officers and differentiate their characteristics from larger town officers. A small town police are identified as
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a police officer. I’m sure, as a little boy, what first caught my attention were the flashing lights and sirens on the police cars. It could have also been then the facts that police officer were permitted to carry a gun and had the ability to run red lights. This is why as I grew up and played games like cops and robbers, I was always the police officer. During my teenage years, I later joined the police explorer program and really started to learn about police work. That’s when I
