Workspace Rough Draft Today, roughly half of the workers are unsatisfied with their work environment. Contrary to popular belief, work environment plays a crucial role in assisting the worker. By putting workers in different settings, scientists observed a change in performance, focus, or teamwork. Although science convinces its audience with experimentation, Mirvis argues that many influential writers used the comfort of their bed to write (Mirvis 22). Each comes to the conclusion that people are more adapt to choosing a workplace that suits their needs. Settings with nature often trigger positive thoughts that help me read (“The Power of Place” 36). In Mirvis’ defense, I do most of my writing in bed with clusters of papers scattered about, pencils thrown around, and books piled up. Mirvis states that writing in bed makes the writer comfortable, a place where the writer can prop up their head on a pillow with minimal distractions. The bed is a perfect place to fuel my creative thoughts into an essay. When doing logic based assignments from math and science, I often will do it at school, because it is easy enough to do with distractions created by other students. Lately, this means going outside on the days I am not busy. When it is too breezy, rainy, or snowy to go outside, I will resort to the alternative, sticking to my room. My room serves as a quiet spot where my parents do not pester me while I do my work. Unlike science, I prefer my space to have no background noise because it will distract me from my work (“The Power of Place” 50). The background noise tunes my senses into another task, thus distracting me from getting my work complete.
