Technology Definition:
Cloud computing is one of the fastest growing segment of Information technology today. In simple words cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the internet instead on the computer's hard drive which can be accessed from any part of the world if the individual are connected to the internet or a network connection is available 24/7. A simple example of cloud computing is g-mail. With the connection of internet through any medium we can send and receive emails.
Business Application:
Information technology is grabbing the globe of business. Without the information technology technology, the existence of cloud computing is not possible.

Both free email services and paid-for email services, are cloud-based.
Backup and file sharing: allows you to access the data and information by logging in from any location with any computer with the internet connection. One can easily share the data and information online with others in every corner of the world, and it keeps your data backed up in a separate place.
Editing documents: Office suite software like Microsoft Office is one of the most commonly-used pieces of business software. However, it is often expensive to buy and can only be used on the computer it’s installed on. This isn’t a problem anymore as there are tools available that provide you an office suite (including word processing and spreadsheet options) that you can log in to online, from anywhere.
Business/Society Implication
Today the world revolves around the internet. Cloud computing is changing our lives in many ways. We are, as never before, seeing cloud technology impact our world on many levels. From remote locations to the global center stage, an event can reach the four corners of the planet by going viral. It has never been as easy to look out for long forgotten friends and classmates with the increasing numbers of social networks and websites proposing ways to connect and relate through online communities. Education sectors and health sectors are the mostly benefited as it has made
Cloud computing is a one of the most talked of topics in the field of Information Technology in recent times (Keyun, Joe, Taha, & Ibrahim, 2013). This subject area of cloud computing basically is a term used to describe computer resources available as a service accessible over a network (Darren & Kim-Kwang, 2013). The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) define cloud computing as a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access on a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g. networks, servers, storage, applications and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction (Peter & Timothy, 2011). Due to the attractive nature of the model there has been rise in the use of cloud computing. Gartner, an IT research and consulting firm, says that cloud computing is growing will become the bulk of IT spend by 2016 (Gartner, 2013).
Cloud computing is the use of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer.
In his article “Online 24/7: ‘Life Logging’ Pioneer Clarifies the Future of Cloud Computing”, Larry Greenemeier (2011) describes the idea of cloud technology, where it stands today and where we are heading to. According to Greenemeier’s article, the idea of cloud computing is to make all the information and services available via web. It will enable access to data and apps without the need for a lot of storage or processing power on the devices themselves.
What is cloud computing? Cloud Computing is storing and accessing applications and data over the Internet and not locally of your computer’s hard drive. The concept has been around and in use for years. To put it more simply, cloud computing means providing processing power to electronic devices (PCs, tablets, smartphones) via a remote infrastructure. There are some advantages and disadvantages of using cloud computing in a business environment. I will be describing three advantages and three disadvantages of using cloud computing in everyday business.
Cloud computing is a practice of storing, collecting and sharing data and resources through web-based tools. It connects many computers together and forms a bigger computer. The biggest characteristic of cloud technology is flexibility. This refers to the ability of system adapting and scale to change in workload. Cloud computing can automatically provision and deprovision information to ensure it satisfies the latest resource demands (Interoute, What is Cloud Computing).
Though the actual history of cloud computing is not that old (the first business and consumer cloud computing services websites – salesforce.com and Google, were launched in 1999), the story of cloud computing is intertwined directly with the creation of the Internet and business, the answer to the unsolved question of how internet utilization can help improve business technology was and is cloud computation. Business technology history is both extensive and interesting, almost as extensive as business itself, but the invention of computers are most responsible for the influence on business technology. Cloud computing, like all other innovation was nurtured in the right environment to take off, as multi-tenant architectures, highly
Cloud as the term signifies means the computers in a network to be used for data storage remotely and for maintenance. The cloud computing offers reductions in costs and also has increased scalability, reliability and flexibility in its own processes, and is considered as todays one of the most exciting technologies and has seen a rapid growth over the past ten years. The Cloud computing uses advanced level of computational
Cloud Computing is a fairly new term used to identify a type of computer connectivity, IT services and on-demand delivery offered via the web. The way that it works is, Cloud Computing offers an easy approach to accessing servers, storage, databases and a wide set of request over the Internet. Cloud Computing also allows cloud-based service providers to own and sustain the network-connected equipment necessary for these application services. This is all done while permitting a business to facilitate and use the services that are deemed essential via a web application (Amazon, 2016).
Cloud Computing is the use of common software, functionality or business applications from a remote server that is accessed via the Internet. Basically, the Internet is the "cloud" of applications and services that are available for access by subscribers utilizing a modem from their computer. With Cloud Computing, one simply logs into desired computer applications - such as sales force or office automation programs, web services, data storage services, spam filtering, or even blog sites. Generally, access to such programs is by monthly or annual paid subscription. Through Cloud Computing, businesses may prevent financial waste, better track
Cloud computing is an internet based computing which provides various applications and services like storage, servers, infrastructure, networking with low cost, on-demand self service, pay as you go model, location independent resource pooling, reasonable price , rapid elasticity etc. Cloud computing is one way to increase the capacity add capabilities without investing in new infrastructures like computer hardware involves storage memory, licensing for new software, training for a person and in a dynamic way.
Cloud computing is the practice of storing, managing, and processing data on a network of remote servers hosted on the internet, instead of locally on servers or hard drives. Cloud computing has unlimited storage, capacity and scalability, as well as back up and recovery systems. It allows you to access your data anywhere with an internet connection. However, security and privacy is a concern when managing confidential data.

Cloud computing relies on sharing computing resources in a virtualized world rather than owning that locally to handle applications. Cloud adoption across the enterprise is a growing reality. Cloud infrastructure is also becoming popular in the scientific research and academic community because of its ability to provide a large number of computing resources for performing large-scale experiments. The advent of the Internet of Things (IOT) and smart mobile computing devices along with secure access to Big Data and immensely improved big-data analytics capabilities have pushed the computing paradigm into new frontiers. Cloud computing offers a completely new infrastructure for utilizing compute and storage
Cloud computing offers educational institute and others, low cost option for using all the benefits of modern computers. The era of cloud computing, completely changes the way information technology are designed, positioned, updated and maintained. Now a day’s computers are becomes more powerful and per unit cost of computing falls rapidly (Alam.M, 2013,p 20). But on other hand computers become more widespread among organizations and, large numbers of computer outcomes complex infrastructure. Due to complexity, there are many maintenance and security an issue arises, that make it expensive to handle. The major cost for any educational institute when it comes to modernization is IT infrastructure, to handle that infrastructure highly skilled man power needed. That is expensive and also not advisable for every institute to implement it. Cloud Computing opens wide door for this, it not only revives educational institute from burden of handling complex infrastructure but also help them to reduces maintenance activity. There are many venders which are offering special cloud base service to school for much cheaper rate; school has to pay only the services they use. No additional cost of equipment or no special IT Teams needed. Which will eventually leads to huge cost of savings, from this government and private institute can also benefit. The advantage of this is same curriculum and educational material can be available for top ranked university to poorly funded government
