There is not another birthday that it is usual for a girl to wear what a quinceanera wears, and that is what makes the night distinctive from any another birthday.

The difference between men and women is a very controversial issue, while there are obviously physical differences; the problem is how the genders are treated. It is stereotypically thought that the men do the labor work and make all the money, while the women stay in the house, cooking, cleaning and taking care of the children. While this stereotype does not exist as much in the 21st century, it was very prevalent in the 1900s. When I think of my childhood, one thing stands out: my time in Spain. Specifically, my time on my family’s olive farm on the island of Mallorca stands out the most. Every year since I was born, I have visited our farm, which is located in the mountains and a five miles from the nearest town. The farm, named Pedruxella, translated to mean the place in the rocks in Catalan, is where I call home for two months every summer and almost all thanksgivings and even for two years when I was six through eight years old. One event is what I will remember forever--olive picking. This process has been imprinted in my mind since I was born and is a major part of my identity. Harvesting and producing olive oil is a laborious process that requires collecting the olives, sorting them, and finally turning the olives that we collected into oil.

Today, I am going to talk about the life of a historical figure. The figure I wanted to talk about is Le Quy Don. My high school's name was named after his name. He was a distinguished philosopher, poet, and encyclopaedist. He was born in 1726. He was responsible for a large number of encyclopaedic, historical and philosophical works. I admire him because of his sharp wit and wide knowledge. Now, I'll move on to an interesting story about him. Still a child, he created a poem, using words with double meanings to describe the characteristics of different types of snakes. the poem can also be interpreted as a lazy student's self-accusation and promise to study harder.
