Love is not a very simplistic accord and many people take the act none too seriously. Mostly in the adolescent phase of life, physical attraction is the major factor that can lead to obsession and misguided intents, this idea is expressed in Romeo and Juliet through the following line “Come Lammas –eve at night shall she be fourteen…” (Shakespeare, Act 1 Scene III, Line 18). That line shows how young Juliet is, she is only thirteen and later in the story she and Romeo get married, just a few days after meeting. Once a pair of teens begins to engage in activities that they feel an inherent need to sate, due to natural hormone imbalances that send primal instinctive messages to the mind and corrupt logical thought, most of the time, the couple
When Juliet finds out that Tybalt has been killed and Romeo is in exile, for killing Tybalt, Juliet feels both passionate about Romeo and disappointed in both Romeo and herself, which reveal her inner struggle. In Act 3, Juliet’s Nurse comes back with this news that Tybalt is dead and that Romeo is such an awful person for killing him. Juliet fights back at the Nurse, and herself, for speaking bad about Romeo. She claims, ““Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband? Ah, poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy name, When I, thy three hours' wife, have mangled it? But wherefore, villain, didst thou kill my cousin? That villain cousin would have killed my husband.” (3.2.99-101). This shows that Juliet is passionate about Romeo, because first of all, she says that she was wrong to say bad things about her husband.
Destiny, something we determine or is your fate already set in stone? Pity and tragedy words used to describe William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet for hundreds of years. The play was tragic in the end, but Romeo and Juliet's last breaths were the cause of their own irrational decisions.
Romeo and Juliet Essay Friar Lawrence and The Nurse, with their misguided advice, are very significant in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. The Tragedy Romeo and Juliet is about two lovers trying to get married but their families hate each other. Friar Lawrence and The Nurse had well intended actions but also misguided actions that significantly contributed to Romeo and Juliet's deaths. Some say Romeo and Juliet were at fault for their deaths, but other people played a huge part in their deaths. Romeo and Juliet are to blame because they did kill themselves physically.
The juvenile mind, still developing until around age 25, often leads to irrational decisions that adults may not realize. This vulnerability is explored in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This story of young love between two teenagers led to a tragic fate. The interference of other adults ultimately caused the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because of the family feud and their own misguided actions. Warring in the city of Verona, the feud between the Capulets and the Montagues drove Romeo and Juliet to their tragic end.
Love is a powerful force that bonds people together through anything and everything. Love will make people do anything for the ones they love and sometimes can’t see the bigger picture. In Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers in “fair Verona” from rival families come together in love. They instantly fall in love as soon as they lay eyes on each other and have to marry each other after only knowing each other for twelve hours. Romeo and Juliet have no idea what is to come due to their actions. Young love often results in a selfish isolation from the rest of the world which causes impulsive decisions that bring unintended consequences.
Brandon Perez Mr. Ramirez English 108 April 15th 2024 Did the characters get what they deserved in Romeo and Juliet Have you ever read a story and always thought that some characters should have been punished or that they didn't deserve what they got? This is how many have felt after reading Romeo and Juliet, a tragedy written by William Shakespeare about Romeo and Juliet, two star-crossed lovers who come from families that hate each other so they fight to stay together against all the challenges that are thrown at them. There are many reasons why people have felt like this because of Romeo and Juliet, whether it be because of foolish decisions that were made or characters that just caused problems for everyone. That is where I, Prince Escalus,
Though Friar Lawrence has good intentions and good meaning, his actions only make Romeo and Juliet’s lives harder and puts their relationship in jeopardy. After Romeo and Juliet meet at Capulet’s party, Romeo goes to Friar to wed him and Juliet together. They get wedded together that afternoon, though Friar still doubts his action. Friar we d the two hoping that “this alliance may so happy prove to turn your households’ rancor to pure love.”
Juliet is a character with many traits, but one that is not talked about often is her determination. She has many ways she shows this trait, but most people don’t talk about any of them. Besides that Juliet is a young 13 year old girl. She has long brown hair and usually wears many long dresses. She doesn’t have a big outlook on life besides her parents wanting her to get married.
Love is defined as the intense feeling of deep affection. In the play, Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, the attraction between the two protagonists, Romeo and Juliet, does not factually classify as true love. Meanwhile, lust is a concept in which is commonly mistaken for love, which is very apparent throughout this classic “love story” of Romeo and Juliet. While others could debate that Romeo and Juliet’s love, was love at first sight, it is debateable that their feelings towards one another were pure lust. Romeo and Juliet are too immature to fully understand the concept of love as they are too young and hormone-driven, they were both in search for escapism from their present troubles, and they had an excessive amount of
Romantic. Spontaneous. Reckless. These are all words that describe the protagonist in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. However, these traits ultimately lead to Romeo’s death, as they are merely twisted forms of his fatal flaw: impulsivity.
Good intentions pave the way to…disaster! In the play, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet are young, star-crossed lovers who are the children from feuding families. They secretly meet and marry through the help of their mentors, Friar Laurence, the local cleric, and the Nurse, Juliet’s nanny, but all of this covertness ultimately leads to the unintended death of both lovers. In the play, Shakespeare vividly illustrates the difficulty of doing the right thing through the use of Friar Laurence to show that the end does not justify the means and the Nurse to show that actions cannot be based solely on loyalty to demonstrate that good intentions are not the same as doing the right thing.
Shakespeare does this by noting how Romeo and Juliet do not actually love each other. This is represented by Romeo and Juliets actions and rash decision making. Their decisions are very impulsive and rushed. As a result, it impacted them negatively in the future and as well as their relationship. Romeo and Juliet’s love for each other is not actually how love really is. They’ve mistakenly confused lust for love.
Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy that involves young lovers, their “untimely death,” and a feud between their two families. The Capulets and the Montagues war against each other. The feud continues to escalate and provides the background for the story of these “two star-crossed lovers.” This literary masterpiece is still relevant today since it involves parental ambition, family fighting, and young love.
Teenagers brains aren’t fully developed during their teenage years, and this partially explains why Romeo made juvenile and naive decisions throughout Romeo and Juliet. In an article by David Dobbs, he states, “This process of maturation, once thought to be largely finished by elementary school, continues throughout adolescence.” This quote is relevant because it may have a say in the explanation of Romeo’s irrational decisions that I am about to discuss disregarding his fate. For example, in Act 3 Scene 1, Romeo states, “Now Tybalt, take the villain back again, either Thou, or both must go with him.” Romeo seeks revenge on Tybalt after Tybalt killed Mercutio.
“Romeo: Tut! I have lost myself; I am not here: This is not Romeo, he’s some other where. Benvolio: Tell me in sadness, who is that you love? Romeo: What, shall I groan and tell thee? Benvolio: Groan? Why, no; But sadly tell me who. Romeo: Bid a sick man in sadness make his will. Ah, word ill urged to one that is so ill! In sadness cousin, I do love a woman.” (1.1.190-197) In the quote, Benvolio can see that Romeo is distraught, and attempts to find what is bothering him. Romeo is saddened by being denied the love of Rosaline, who he believed to be his true love. Instead of attempting to resolve the issue in their relationship, he quickly turned and dramatically spoke of her to Benvolio. This is just one of the many examples of impulsivity in adolescence in the play of Romeo and Juliet.
