Vision Statement: “To be the best retailer in the hearts and minds of consumers and employees.” Based on Walmart’s number one status on the Fortune 500 for the 5th year in a row it seems they have lived up to their vision on wanting to be the best retailer. Walmart’s revenue for this year is 485,873 million and stock is currently at $75.69. (Forbes, 2017) The vision ties into the two important things that makes companies a success the consumers and the employees. The vision states they want to be in the heart and minds of consumers and employees which they have accomplished by giving consumers the low prices and employees’ wages. The vision also guides management to focus on employees which will generate more production and motivation from employees which will then impact customers by the service they receive. The happier the employee it will show to the customer. It is easy to see that Walmart has attained the mind portion of their vision. However, if you research the customer service, stigma, and the debate if employee wages are enough its not been determined that they are in the hearts.
