I wrote Children, because I am trying to bring back the fun high school days. It sounded stupid when I thought about it, so I decided to add mister to it because we are adults. Mister Children. Then, a new idea came to my mind. Since we are all adults now, I wrote Mister Adults. I felt that I was a genius, grabbed my red marker, and circled Mister Adults. I ripped the paper out of my notebook slowly raised it with joy and a smile on my face. I folded the paper in half, shoved it in my pocket. I quickly pack my guitar in my case held it in my arms and ran out the door. I needed to tell my friend about this. I run to his small diner only a few blocks away from where I live. I open the door, and saw his head move away from the newspaper and looks
I find myself in a daze of happiness as I realize what i'm on the brisk of accomplishing. Despite the screams of thousands of drunken women in their 20s in my ears and the cringe-worthy feeling of their sweaty bodies practically compressed on mine, I’m exuberant. Not only am I exuberant in this moment, but i’m also eternally grateful for being as small as I am, without it I probably would not have been able to maneuver myself into the front and center spot at the one direction concert and fulfilled my middle school heart’s biggest desire. To most people, this achievement would seem irrelevant and insignificant, however, If you ever told 12-year-old me that, I might’ve raised hell from beneath me. Now here’s where it all began;
I liked this story because it reminds me of kids I knew back in the day.
“March of Dimes” charity was in news in November ’15, because of an alleged fraud committed by one of its employees named Ms. Karima Manji. Karima Manji has been working with MOD since 2005. She has been handling the portfolio of property manager and used to look after MOD’s non-profit residences. She is alleged to have used “various means” to siphon funds from the charity, including forging invoices and expense claims, and funnelling money into a false March of Dimes bank account. She has been charged with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000 and presenting a forged document. She also served as the executive director of Kingsmere retirement living in Alliston and has been placed on administrative leave after being charged by Toronto police of allegedly defrauding MOD of $0.8 Mn. Officials at MOD has confirmed of ongoing investigation into the incident and those of Kingsmere retirement living have stated that “Manji’s employment is not linked to her involvement with MOD’s”.
The article “Toddlers in Tiaras” by Skip Hollandsworth discusses the beauty pageant industry and its harmful effects in the young girls who participate. He gives many examples of beauty pageant contestants. He describes their appearances and attitudes which seem to match those of adult women. Specifically, he refers to 6-year-old Eden Wood who is commonly known from the reality television show Toddlers & Tiaras. The author describes how Eden’s personal stylist does her hair, makeup, and touches up her spray tanned body with bronzer before a pageant (Hollandsworth 490). I believe that the intended audience for this article is the mothers of these young girls and anyone in the public he can convince. Hollandsworth uses a couple aspects of Toulmin and they are rebuttal and qualifiers.
The Donner kids grandpa purchased two horses. The kids witnessed him riding away on one of these horses to the mines without a goodbye; he felt it would hurt too bad to say goodbye to to them. When Eliza learned he wouldn't be returning for a long while she was devastated. Their grandma informed the girls that if they worked hard on their chores that they would be allowed to finally go to a "real school." The girls did what their grandma asked of them and attended the first school in Sonoma. When their grandpa returned from the mines he returned with nothing more than rheumatism. Others weren't as fortunate and so the Donner's took in the people very sick with mine fever's and took care and provided for them. John, a sick young man who the
The cafeteria was in total anarchy. We kept telling the kids that it wasn’t a good idea, but they didn’t listen. Soon enough, one kid threw a Cheez-It at another kid, and it hit the kid right in the ear. When he went to the nurse, the inside of his ear was shredded. His parents ended up taking him to the doctors, and he had
I was laying in my bed. A cold and quiet night, just how I like it. My brother, Frank Heff, was in the kitchen making dinner. He’s a lot older than me that’s why he’s the one doing all the work, he’s 21. He was all I had left after our parents died in a freak car accident. It had been 3 years since that happened but it still kept me up at night. Oh, I’m sorry I never properly introduced myself! I’m Joe Heff, I’m 12, awesomeness extraordinaire, and master of video games. Frank is my brother, king of stupidity and the master of laughter. He was cooking dinner while I was in my room staring at the ceiling. Some people can’t do that, they would get too bored or just keep thinking of what they would rather do. However, I can do nothing and still have fun. I think about the stars and how two of them are my parents. They help me when I’m sad or mad, like an encouraging voice saying “You can do
Have you ever thought as a teen that you want life to be... let's say a little more interesting. Well, I was a teen just like all of you and I wished the world was more interesting. It all started with another boring day at school, except it was almost the end of the school year. I was in Spanish waiting my turn to be sentenced to the gallows or reciting the A,B,Cs in Spanish (basically the same thing). My best friend Chester had just got a 100% on his test and that meant it was sadly my turn to fail in front of the whole class. I went up to the front of the class and started trying but thankfully the intercom blared. “All students! All students down to the auditorium!” Mr. page said from the other side, his
In the final chapter of The Call of the Wild, Buck goes on one last trip with Thornton towards north for the gold mine. Along the way they make several camps and on one of those nights Buck dreams about the hairy man again. On another night he travels through the woods by himself and meets a wolf who he befriends. He returns back to camp and doesn’t leave until he gives in to his desire. Sometime later near a creek he encounters a herd of Meese and he ends up killing the leader bull. When he returns to camp, however, he finds his master dead at the hands of Yeehats who he chases away with rage. The next night, a pack of wolves comes by and he fights some of them until he recognizes his old friend. In the end, Buck finds a new family he runs
Lisa often gets frustrated when trying to play with other children. She takes toys from their hands and even hits children with the toys.

In week four of ethics we went over chapters 8, 9 and 10. Chapter 8 was over Virtue Ethics, chapter 9 was about feminists thought and the ethics of care, and chapter 10 was about euthanasia. These three topics were very interesting to me, but one in particular topic that was interesting for me was the chapter on virtue ethics. This chapter stood out the most for me because it is so important to have good character no matter what you are personally going through or what has happened to you in your life it is always important to give others respect and treat them how you would like to be treated. Virtues are good character traits, for example courage, loyalty, self sacrifice, and patriotism. They are the traits that make a person good. According
Four years ago, I ambled over to our shared table after the seventh grade health teacher dispassionately declared our names and gestured towards the third table in the center row of his classroom. Neither of us could have imagined that action would excite a companionship defining what I consider to be the most transformative era of my life, and a time which likely holds a similar potency for you. I did not know you, but I knew of you and had spent the semester admiring your sweaters adorned with witty phrases and images from afar, and I know you would say the same about my colorful mismatched socks. We were both rather shy, but you kept pushing for a bond despite my taciturn demeanor and asocial tendencies— for that I am eternally grateful.
The poem “Saturday’s Child” and the book The Secret Life of Bees have many things in common. In “Saturday’s Child” Countee Cullen uses the personification of death and imagery to portray the loss of innocence, which relates to Lily Owens in The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.
One beautiful Monday morning, everything was calm (for now). I woke up very fresh, excited, and ready to go to school! It was a nice and sunny day, the best way to start a week. I woke up at 6:00 a.m and had a lot of time to get ready for the school day. After that I wore my clothes, did my hair, and brushed My teeth. Next, I had breakfast that included cereal, milk, and apple juice. My sister and I went outside and saw that my dad was waiting for us to get in the car, so that he can take us to school.
