Furthermore, Polit and Beck (2012) explains the importance of Mixed Method in research and stated that a hypothesis that is supported by information, which is complementary brings about confidence in the validity of the results.
This research will be adopting the mixed method approach, as it will assist in gathering both qualitative and quantitative methods to ascertain the authenticity of information used. Any weaknesses in either of the research methods will be complemented and compensated by the other’s strength.

The researcher will employ a mixed method research method to study the effects of maltreatment and how those maltreatments correlate with psychosocial behaviors. The author has chosen this method because she wants to explore internal and external behaviors of children who have experienced childhood trauma, also the researcher has personal reasons to explore this population. This form of study includes collecting and analyzing data from a quantitative and qualitative perspective. It is believed that mixed methods research is a great method for practicing researchers who would like to bridge the schism between quantitative and qualitative research (Onwuegbuzie & Leech, 2004a). Even though these methods are different, they all involve philosophical assumptions and distinct methods or procedures (Cresswell, 2009).
A mixed method study would be an ideal research method to examine school bullying. I am interested in reducing school bullying. A mixed method study uses qualitative and quantitative data. This research could include a quantitative survey and could also implicate qualitative interviews or focus groups. Quantitative surveys for example, can help the investigator to conclude that students who score low on their exams are the same students who are victims of bullying. Qualitative interviews for instance, can assist the researcher to know about the student’s feeling about bullying.
