Mobile Phones Should Be Banned from School

By Rico Doran In a society where almost everyone over the age of thirteen carries a mobile phone, many school systems have banned or want to ban these items from school grounds. Why? The one says it is due to the ‘potential problems’, such as texting during class and the use of social media. Others say it is because they interrupt the learning environment. Whatever the reason is the school gives us, should mobile phones be banned in schools? In daily life almost everyone now is reliable of their mobile phones. It is the wonderful technology for communication, especially for high school students, age 12 to 18. They use mobile phones during the whole day, at home, on the bike and also in class. A second counter argument is the amount of facilities the school has if you look at the IT sector. The most schools do not have enough IT facilities to provide every student from a laptop, computer or tablet at the same time. If you have a laptop or such you may can take this with you, if you are not provided from a computer or tablet, you can use your mobile phone very handy to look things up on the internet, typing documents and reading books and articles. Mobile phones, they might seem to be nothing else but a distractive and disruptive device for all the schools, they are in fact quite the opposite. Banning cell phones from school premises will only ever have detrimental effects. Student will always keep taking their cell phone to school. As long as there is a sensible rule in place, such as ‘students are required to leave cell phones off and out of sight during school hours’, there is no chance of distractions or disruptive. After all, there’s probably more chance that a student will fall from his bike and break something that the chance that a mobile phone being a distraction when it is turned off, isn’t
