On 25Feb17 I, Deputy Halbasch, received a tasking from Sheriff Aukes regarding this investigation & the status of any possible criminal charges.
“Hold your breathe. The arbiter would love to hear all of your lies” The officer said walking away. My cell was small and It smelled like feet. It was dark and I couldn't see the ground. I sat on a bench and curled up. I still couldn’t remember what had happen. Why wasn't I dead too.
Criminal law provides procedural rules in governing the criminal justice system’s operation. In films, the trial scenes rarely give an accurate depiction of the court process. The writers and producers make the crime movies more dramatic as a technique to draw in the audience. The trial scene tends to be the climax in crime films, which gives it more depth and meaning. The 1959 movie Anatomy of a Murder follows a murder trial of a defendant who murdered a man that allegedly raped his wife. The movie’s plot is primarily focused on the entire trial of this case. While the 1988 movie The Accused, discusses a case involving a women who was gang raped at a local bar. It portrayed this as a very serious offense that ended up destroying the life
On October 13th, 1982, at approximately 1:15 a.m. the neighbors of Queenie Volupides had reported that Queenie tore out of the house after an argument with her husband, Arthur. She quickly got in her Mustang convertible and sped away. Queenie stated that she went to the couple’s country club for a party that was going on to celebrate the opening of the new golfing range. But I believe this was just the beginning of her scheme. I affirm that Queenie has murdered her husband Arthur. (Claim)
After being a part of the mock trial, I think that the verdict was not the right one because even though Leah and Jared harmed Ms. Cullen’s reputation, they were not charged for it. Telling from Scratchy, Mona, and Jock the teacher’s evidence, I can support that Leah and Jared harmed Ms. Cullen’s reputation. They all think that her reputation was broken due to the blog that Leah and Jared created on Facebook and what the kids from the school said about her.
Karen Jimenez was interviewed on Monday, February 15, 2016, at approximately 8:18 p.m., at the Edgecombe County Detention Center Annex located at 301 St. Andrews Street in Tarboro, North Carolina, by North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI) Special Agent (SA) J. A. Bode. SA J. L. Matherly was also present during the interview.
Sara, I have called a couple of times to discuss my conversation with KC's defense attorney, but you must be busy. Yesterday, Gabe called me wanting to know why I was not recommending SSODA and I explained to him all of the reasons that were laid out in the addendum. I further went on to say that while I agreed with him that he is in need of treatment, he would get treatment at JRA, if that is where he ends up. He adamantly disagreed with me and stated that KC would go without treatment at JRA, even on Parole. He attempted to put words in my mouth wanting me to confirm that I was not recommending SSODA because he would receive Tx at JRA instead, and I stopped him and said that I see how this conversation is going and I would not allow him to put me on trial. I reiterated that my reasoning for not recommending SSODA is in my eval
I knew I didn't pass my jury the moment I saw Mary's face when I asked to see my score sheets. On each of those goldenrod colored pieces of paper, the phrase Jury Failed: Recommended additional semester of study was checked off. My eyes quickly took in each of those scores; 67, 69, 62, 70. I knew that I was going to end my fall semester with a D in my tuba lessons. How pathetic was that? A D in tuba lessons.
My trial was hard and brutal. The hardest thing was to see that people, that I didn’t even know, want me dead for something that I am physically not capable of doing. You all know me, and who I really am. Most of you probably don’t care about what I have to say, and most of you don’t care what happens to me, but I know some of you do truly believe me. I was framed, and the evidence even proves that I didn’t do it, but no one believes a black man .I mean how could I choke a strong woman like Mayella, and keep her down to where she can’t get up, with my crippled arm. I would never do such a thing to anyone, and I hope you all know that. This justice system is not fair, and I knew there would be no way out of this mess.

My second week at the court house was long but eye opening. I learned so much about the criminal justice system. I leaned that each procedure and each role a person play is crucial to someone life. On Tuesday, the day was short but still alarming. I came in and shadow one of the clerks as she was preparing for court. As the clerk was setting up for court I remember trying to recognize which department is what on each traffic ticket. I felt confuse, but the clerk show who was trooper, SUNY New Paltz police, and state police/ She remind that I will eventually learn who is who and how to set up for court. I felt better about what she said and I was ready for court. I notice that court will be short today because we did not have many cases. I began
I used to be an easy target because I couldn’t speak English. I couldn’t defend myself. My experience explains why I became an attorney for my county’s teen court. Most teenage defendants are there for petty theft, trespassing or damaging private property. I remember a group of middle school kids arrested for trespassing because two of them burglarized the school. The two boys I defended were among the most polite and genuine, virtues that are so scarce in modern times. After the case, the parents of the two boys thanked me for defending their kids and giving their kids the lightest sanctions, and I was touched. It was moments like these that made me feel proud to be a defense attorney. I acted as a voice for these defendants, when everyone
