History is alive
The subject of history is described as many things among high schoolers. A boring subject about people long since dead, a class with WAY too much homework or with a professor who enjoys giving droning lectures. Therefore, most students look at history classes as just another set of credits to get out of the way for graduation. However, in my case, it is viewed a bit differently. I believe history is a gift, a window into the past that gives us a chance to learn from the people who lived before us, and to prevent the recurring of their mistakes in our world today.

It is the backbone of all other subjects, such as English, science, math, government, even world languages. Historical knowledge provides the groundwork for all literature, it is vital in order to understand references and allusions, as well as to grasp the point of view an author is writing from. In essence, you can read a novel a hundred times, but you will never be able to fully appreciate it if you have no connection to the deeply rooted historical background of the plot. Then there are scientific discoveries. Who made them? Where did those scientists come from? What culture led to the discoveries? What war brought about the creating of nuclear bombs? What were the thought processes of the scientific geniuses? All these questions have answers that can be found through the study of history. Next, is the application for math, the Pythagorean theorem, the geometric knowledge gained from Euclid, the Greeks and Romans and how their past brought them to be mathematicians. These people and their mathematical work are part of history. Even the development of different forms of government is a direct result of the experiences of different cultures, and their gifted philosophers. Language itself has survived and adapted because of wars, conquered nations, and the changing borders of countries. I enjoyed the school subject History cause there so much it has changed and how it changed our life today still using same things from old days how we go about doing it. Its something different way to explore different ways of living new places like such as here weather is hot and if I travel to Alaska work up north I will be experience lots of snow in which in Alabama sometimes get bit here. It will teach me how able to survival different things I may face in my life time. Some places maybe heavy populated with Animals like big bears or moose’s like in Alaska and we have here in Alabama such as we have lots of deer.
History has changed life in many ways. The discovery of America, the end of slavery. No matter what it happened it was history. History gets taught all over the World. Schools teach Civics and Economics, World History 1 and World History 2. It is split up because there is so much to learn about like wars, economics, and last but not least, religion.
History is much more complex than the study and analysis of our past. History is what results from our use of concrete tools like chronology, geography, language - paired with their respective contexts - and the influence of others. It is constantly changing and evolving as historians, teachers, students, and civilians challenge what was previously accepted as fact. As time continues to pass we as a human race examine and dissect the events of the past that brought us here to the present, slowly chipping away at prejudice and bias that blocks us from truly understanding our what our history is.
History tells us who we are, it hints to what we will be . History is essentially everything that we have ever been. It is a depiction of what happened in the years since the inception of human race. We study history to understand the origin of our existence. It helps us understand who we are, where our ancestors came from, what was the society and culture that they lived in. It helps us understand everything about our past. Without history, we would be nothing.

To some people, studying history is important because it helps them know everything around the world. It also helps us develop judgement in worldly affairs by understanding the past behavior of people and societies and help us understand change and how the community, nation, and the world we live in came to be. The United States of America is defined by various documents that display the values and ideas that the United States stands behind. These documents, while numerous and varying in topic, share many common themes and ideas. Topics for these documents have also been formed by sources not from the United States such as the Enlightenment or the English Bill of Rights. When I was younger, history was never appealing to me. It always seemed like it was an unnecessary subject until my sophomore year of high school. My life drastically changed when I read Animal Farm by George Orwell. His satire gave me great insight that inspired me into reading his book 1984. It gave me a thirst that I could not satisfy. I started doing something I never did before; I enjoyed and understood what my history teachers were saying. History is a fundamental class in a person’s academic life. To understand and learn the importance of modern society as a whole is key. From learning so, we not only understand who we are today as a nation, community, and society, but also as individuals, and from there, we are able to understand a little more about how we are where we are as well; therefore, history, specifically American history, is a core class in the academic curriculum across the nation. I know that you were never one concerned by history, because you felt it was not relevant to you, that it was boring and maybe it was even inaccurate. However, in my studies I have found quite the opposite. History is more than dates or names, history is us. History encompasses more than merely events that occurred in the past. History is about; understanding how people felt, how they lived and how certain events shaped the society they lived in. The truth is, today’s society only knows bits and pieces of history because most of the history that’s known is often misinterpreted, or misconstrued due to the lack of evidence that has survived, or the over-abundance of information that is present. I’ll say right off the bat; this course was definitely more than just a history lesson for me. I was the sojourner exploring ideas from the past, learning how history trickles down into the present and future. If I had to do it over again, I would pay more attention to the legends, folktales, and out of class readings that were discussed since they are so rich in life and human nature. Learning about how the different cultures lived reiterated the lessons of the struggle for survival. Heretofore, I was too naïve by expecting this to be a boring history class. The truth is, I ended up learning much about life in the end. If a mind is open to finding some sort of insight when learning, chances are you will probably find what you are looking for.
