“Modern-Day Hero” By: Luigi Perrotta Over an a large number of years our picture of a saint has changed So compelling. From the get go in the our reality a Legend was seen as somebody who brought sustenance home for their familys, Somebody who is nonselfish supplier and an immaculate hearted saint. Later on, on the other hand, Legends got to be something who did useful for all individuals of the world. That is the place Superman becomes possibly the most important factor. Superman is one of, if not one, most surely understood Legends. Yes he was conceived with super powers, yet he is who a great many people based their primary perspective of a Saint on in any case he speaks to a Super-Legend and individuals see the distinction of the two

In Mario Puzo 's book The Fortunate Pilgrim, he highlights the struggles of Italian immigrants coming to America through one family. Using the Angeluzzi-Corbo family Puzo is able to show the struggles of living in a new country, giving up old ways, and adapting to new customs. He shows the immigrants struggles the best by using Lucia Santa, the mother and the rock of the Angeluzzi-Corbo family. By using Lucia, Puzo is able to make the reader see her struggle of keeping her family safe from the harshness of the outside world. Lucia is mainly concerned that her children do not lose the Italian ways and that she can continue to provide for her family. At some point in the book Norman Bowker felt angry and very annoyed. The majority of the vets who have been in war demanded a parade, Mr. Bowker doesn’t agree he explains in a written letter “One thing i hate-really hate-is all those whiner-vets. Guys sniveling about how they didn't get any parades. Such absolute crap. I mean, who in his right mind wants a parade? Or getting his backed clapped by a bunch of patriotic idiots who don't know jack about what it feels like to kill people or get shot at or sleep in the rain or watch your buddy go down underneath the mud?Who needs it?” (O’Brien,1990,pg.156). He matures up and understands the meaning of life how it is important to live. How calling someone a soldier is offensive. He's been through
Superman, also known as Clark Kent, is the most popular modern day hero. Superman spent most of his time saving people from natural disasters and corrupt businessmen. He would level slums to force the city to build decent housing, and he would use his powers to terrorize munitions makers.
In 2013 the biopic of Simón Bolívar called "The Liberator", directed by Alberto Arvelo was created to demonstrate the liberation of Latin America during the 1800s as well as the various obstacles Simón Bolívar had overcome in order to free his country. "The Liberator" was an impactful film that truly demonstrated the hardships and inferiority of indigenous life due to Spain 's reign of dominance which drastically damaged the overall tone and development of many Latin Americans. Throughout the duration of the film, various themes such as inequality, nationalism, and liberalism were present during Bolívar 's war against the Spanish Empire; Bolívar 's ideals on the true destiny of man had both divided the country between patriots and royalists as well as sparking a revolution against the Spanish due to his disobedience. Simón Bolívar was a Venezuelan militaries and political leader known as "The Liberator" for his role in challenging the powerful Spanish Empire in order to establish independence and equality within Latin America. However, despite fighting for a noble cause and providing unity amongst the indigenous people of Latin America, Bolívar 's leadership was often questioned due to his determination to win liberty.
But whence digging past the loud colours and the "it's-a-bird-it's-a-plane," generic, one realises the true face of Superman. He isn't super for his inhuman abilities or his capricious appearance, he isn't a true man for his strong build and his appealing features: Superman is super because he's what everyone should aspire to be, and he is a man because he melds the world in a form of good and good only. For if Superman wanted to, he could rule the world and no one would be able to stop him. Superman is, literally, a god among men. He has the power to sink entire continents and kill millions of people with ease, but he chooses to protect everyone, good or bad, no matter how insignificant and tiny the life is for nothing in return. Superman is a hero because he's there for everyone, never compromising his ideals and taking the high road to support those in need. This is despite the fact that he could basically be a god lording over others without much trouble, but instead chooses to serve and inspire. That is why he is a hero. Superman is the ultimate hero, and not just because he is the most powerful being on earth but for his integrity which sets him completely apart. One could constantly remark on how Superman looks for the best in everyone, how he is ultimately loyal and selfless, not even considering the fact that he could rule the world but chooses to serve is the greatest compliment you can
During this semester’s course we have studied various styles of art throughout Europe, and what has intrigued me the most is Baroque art. Baroque, as we have studied it, is a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, in sculpture, and painting. Baroque style began in Rome, Italy in the 1600s and quickly spread throughout Europe. The Baroque style was endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church, in their response to the Protestant Reformation. The Church encouraged artists to create works of art that would connect their audience intellectually and emotionally with religious themes. For my final visual analysis I have chosen Hero and Leander, by Peter Paul Rubens (Figure 1). Rubens created this oil on canvas painting between 1604 and 1605 in Lombardy, Italy. Ruben’s painting features Leander, a youth of Abydos, who used to swim across the waters at night to Sestos on the opposite side to meet his lover Hero, a priestess of Aphrodite. The painting measures 96 X 127 cm and is currently located in the Yale University Art Museum, in New Haven, Connecticut. (Early mythological paintings)
The Liberator, directed by Alberto Arvelo, is a historical biographical film documenting the life of Simon Bolivar and his struggle against the Spanish for equality in South America. Somewhat surprisingly, the cast is an incredibly gifted cast in comparison with other Latin American produced films with smaller budgets. Édgar Ramírez was the main actor who played the role of Simon Bolivar in the film. Erich Wildpret played the critical role of Antonio Jose de Sucre. This prominent general was murdered near the conclusion of the film. The third major character in the film was actress María Valverde. She played the supporting role of Maria Teresa Bolivar, Simon’s early wife (IMDB, The Liberator 2013).

This paper is going to be more of a memoir, now that I think about it; to me, there’s only one way to write about being a big sister, and that involves going over multiple memories, from the beginning to the present. I hope that this is not deviating from the original assignment too much. To be fair, I have learned many lessons from my experiences, and I love talking about my stepbrother, so this paper is a win-win.

After World War II Italy was in shambles, and the rural nation struggled to close the developmental gap between itself and other European nations. It was during this time, in 1948, that Luchino Visconti filmed La Terra Trema, or The Earth Trembles, on the island of Sicily. It was a critically acclaimed adaptation of I Malavoglia, or The House by the Medlar Tree, written by Giovanni Verga in 1881. Life on the island as depicted by Verga had barely changed in the approximate 70 years between the two works, and Visconti filmed in a true neorealist style, recruiting nonprofessional Sicilians to act out their own lives in their own native tongue. While Visconti’s political messages change the meaning of the story, he succeeds in capturing the never-ending struggle of the oppressed working class, and the futility of disjointed revolt.
Superman: America’s Savior The name Superman encompasses the resonating factors that have contributed to Superman’s lasting cultural impact, the fact that he is able to be superhuman while retaining an undeniable sense of humanity. Since his first comic book appearance nearly 80 years ago Superman has been portrayed across many diverse platforms, in many forms, in many countries. For the purposes of this paper the focus will be on the 2006 film Superman Returns and the 2013 film Man of Steel, which being targeted for American audiences, present the characters through a lens of American values. In their respective films Superman Returns and Man of Steel, Brian Singer and Zack Snyder each present decidedly different versions of Superman, yet they are both ultimately guided by the theology that an American savior needs human characteristics.
The main factor that tells me that Superman is a better Superhero is that fact that he actually has powers whereas Batman has to rely on money. Superman has many powers such as: Extreme strength, invulnerability, heat and x-ray vision, super breath, and flight. Batman on the other hand, has no powers and without his billionaire status, would have never made it as a superhero. In a scenario where Superman and Batman were both dirt poor, Batman would just stay as Bruce Wayne and Superman would still
