If you had to pick an era would you prefer the 60s or would you stay with the modern day era? In the 60s people were dealing with the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King Jr. was making speeches about the civil right. J.F.K was assassinated. In modern day the first black man became president, we have better upgraded computers and technology. Another thing is we have better emergency services available. The 60s were definitely safer and better than the world today in 2010. Kids could walk to school alone without being kidnapped like today. The counterclaim is not valid, laws today are better at protecting people in this generation than in the last 50 years. Modern day is better. One reason modern day is better is because it has more advanced
Many people inaccurately assess the 1950s and 1960s. Historians, in particular, tend to describe the 1950s as a decade of prosperity and the 1960s as one of turbulence. According to most, peace and harmony defined the 50s while violence and protest conjured the 60s. This isn't true because controversy existed in the fifties, many achievements occurred in the sixties, and both decades had its political ups and downs. With all the criticism surrounding it, the 1960s remains one of the most controversial decades in American history.
When I read “What We Really Miss About the 1950’s”, Stephanie Coontz provides many data and reports to support the positive side and negative sides of the 1950’s. On my first impression, the 1950’s sounded a pretty good era. People just get through the World War II. Many young men came back home or just build their new home. After so many years, American people can do everything at once again. However, every coin has two sides. Some heavy things such as racism, woman’s rights, and McCarthyism. I have to ask myself a question “ Do we really miss those old days?”. Or more specific, “why some time we said those old days are good?”. I do want to argue which era is the best. I just want to focus on why sometime people said old days are better and we
Something about the American mindset tends to make heroes out of criminals. From criminals like Jesse James all the way to Al Capone, despite the wishes of our law enforcement and government, infamous criminals fascinate the public mind. The oddity of the American psychology, that has mixed organized crime into American culture, is amazing (Nash). The unique qualities of the Roaring Twenties really make it stand out in our history. The most interesting points being; the role of organized crime and growth of gangs, major scandals involved with the gang, and the most famed gangster in arguably history, Al Capone.
The 1960’s was an important era in the development of Canada. The 60s youth had very different ideas on life compared to previous generations. Unlike their parents, the hippie generation didn’t enjoy the booming prosperity of Canada and preferred to take a different route in life. Young men grew out their hair and refused to wear suits, while the women burned their bras, and wore flowers in their hair. Many of the primary values were inspired by Martin Luther King Jr’s ideas of racial harmony and non-violent protests. The 60s focused on peace and civil rights. Music was commonly used to promote these ideas and created the concept of music festivals called "love-ins", which is simply where people gathered and sang abound world peace. Popular
When deciding what movie to do for this particular paper I faced a few issues. I knew what the requirements were, but I wanted something different and something I could have fun watching and writing as well. So, after looking around and pondering movies for weeks I finally decided on a perfect choice The 60's directed by Mark Piznarski?
The horrific and traumatic events of World War 1 were the stepping stones to better times. After the Great war woman became more recognized and respected. Also, there was many technological advancements after the war. Finally, although the economy was failing right after the war, it picked back up again and was soaring. Although World War one was a horrible and traumatic time in history, all bad times come to an end.
I love to tell stories about my childhood. Looking back now, through all of my life’s experiences, it almost feels like I was living in a fairy tale. It brings both joy and sadness to my heart when I share these memories with my daughter. The joy comes from remembering how things were back then and how those things impacted my life today. The sadness comes from knowing that she will never get to experience those things, therefore, she will only get to live them through me. Even now as a young woman, she will say to me from time to time, “mom, tell me a story about the Good Ole Days”!
The 1960s itself is a decade that is almost incomparable to any other. None of us since have seen a war that can compare to the likes of the Vietnam War and I pray that we never have to. There was a fear of Cold war. The civil rights movement and segregation is something we can only try to fathom. While it hurts to see that racism is still and issue today, I can only realize its severity back then by what I see in movies and read of it in books. While it was a time of free love and peace for some, it was also a time of great loss and turmoil for others. For those of us who did not live it, we can only look in awe at what the decade
1960 was safer than present day, Time then was better than

When people think of a time in our world where rebellious, free spirited and mindful people play a part in, the 1960’s come to mind. To be a decade known for that is why the 1960’s is the most loved decade of them all. The youth lived with no hatred, no care, and peace. The 1960’s were the big time for the Hippie movement and that’s what the youth did. Hippies, war, and music are what were going on during this decade. This decade is what showed the world that we could live with peace and love and not have to worry about anything. The 1960’s was the time of change and is the best era that has come. The 1960’s is the best decade because of the liberal people, how it was revolutionary, and the entertainment
To some people the 1960s were the best of times, to others it was a

Historians tend to portray the 1950’s as a decade of prosperity, conformity, and consensus, and the 1960’s as a decade of turbulence, protest, and disillusionment. Do you agree or disagree with this view? Show evidence to support your argument.
It is important in life to practice as much sports as possible to develop a healthy body and good mentality. Students in our era should play sports more often to reduce their physical problems, and raise their social abilities to gain a better future.
