Modern Political Parties

Political parties developed in the United States mostly because of differences between Hamilton and Jefferson and how they the government should run. Hamilton and Jefferson disagreed on most of the issues. Having different parties allows us to have our own opinion so you can say what we want to say. To have what we want to say we have the freedom of speech. This is why I believe political parties developed in the United States.

Political parties today started to form in the late 1600’s. In 1787, Hamilton and other leaders joined and called themselves the Federalist. The Federalist party is the party which is most qualified for the presidency because the Federalist want a central government, want to avoid foreign affairs, and also want a central banking system. First a strong central governments.

The Democratic Party was in favor of the rights of the states and the people and believed that the people should get to decide whether or not slavery was legal or not legal (illegal). In the year 1854, Senator Stephen Douglas who was from the state of Illinois, wanted to run for president, and he wanted southern Democrats to support him. He created the Kansas-Nebraska Act in question of slavery. The Kansas-Nebraska Act supported popular sovereignty. Popular sovereignty means the “rule by the people”. If the country were to vote for Stephen Douglas, the Missouri Compromise would be repealed, or cancelled. In the beginning of the establishment of the 13 colonies, the founding fathers knew it was necessary to create a formal government for their new country. This event followed up to the federalists and Anti-federalists. In today’s government we have democrats and republicans.

Political Parties at the turn of the 20th century reflected limitations of the American political system. They suffered from limitations as partisan political parties, and corruption within them. This led some progressives to call for the abolition of political parties, whereas other progressives wanted to reform the political party system by reinventing the Presidency.

Political parties form a very important role in the United states of America, these political parties usually convince people to vote their candidate, so they can practice the same rights as their candidate and to also have their practice go into action. Most political parties for example Republicans favor themselves whereas Democrats favor the people's decision and their voices. Political parties have been in the United State for about decades now

There are two major political parties in the United States, the Democrats and the Republicans. The Democratic symbol is a donkey they got this from the colonial times when andrew jackson kept being called a donkey so he started to use it, and we have used it ever since. The republicans got their symbol from Nast. Nast invented a famous symbol the Republican elephant. In a cartoon that Nast that had ran in Harper 's Weekly in the year 1874, Nast drew a donkey clothed in lion 's skin, scaring away at all the animals in the zoo. One of those animals was the elephant, this elephant was labeled “The Republican Party Vote.” this cartoon is all it took for the elephant to become the Republican Parties mascot.

Today, there exists the rift in the American political system marked by the ongoing clash between our political parties: the Republicans and the Democrats. These parties’ dissenting ideas seem to create non-stop conflict as each party relentlessly competes for the support and votes of the American people. However, over two hundred years ago in the early days of our country’s government, political parties did not even exist. Early leaders, such as the revered George Washington, feared that political parties would split our country into warring factions that would not only subvert our delicate notion of patriotism, but also weaken public support for the new Constitution. Nonetheless, despite opposition by Washington and others, political parties began to form, and over the years have developed into the familiar political system we have today. The chief factors that led to the rise of political parties were the disagreements between influential politicians over the structure of the government, the proper interpretation of the Constitution, and foreign policy regarding European nations.

There are copious Americans who believe that the political party system is shattering our nation. In my opinion, our nation would not be the nation we are today without political parties. Other than presenting candidates and electoral campaigns to the electorate, political parties perform innumerable tasks to better the United States of America. They serve as institutionalized mediators between our society and duly elected representatives who are responsible for determining and executing legislations. They seek public policy priorities and civic needs and concerns identified by their affiliates and supporters. Political parties educate the people on how the political, electoral system, and general political values work. By doing so, voters are well informed of each party’s stance on specific matters. They also inspire individuals to participate in political decisions and turning their outlooks into policy options for all. Unlike other countries, America is a democratic nation we want our people to freely voice their thoughts and support the party who shares their interest and perspectives. In addition, political parties help to annihilate any unexpected shifts in political trends that hold the ability to disrupt the balance of our government. In 1790, the United States had just recently broke free from the British crown and united under the cause of liberty. But in spite of this, Americans saw political rifts brought about by the rise of political parties. The rise of political parties in 1790 was caused by general distrust, disagreements on policies, and constitutional disagreements between the Federalist and Democratic-Republican parties, which were led by Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, respectively.
