The roaring 1920s was one of the greatest time periods of the early 20th century. The 1920s brought change in culture and politics in American society. For example, women were going out at night and partying; challenging the social norms and became known as flappers. In addition to this, alcohol was illegal in the United States, which sparked the prohibition in era where they were able to sneak the alcohol and they would drink all night and party all night. During the 1920s, author F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote about the times during this lavish time period. F. Scott Fitzgerald had written many famous books and poems. Even though he is now not with us anymore, his books, short stories and poems are still memorable. His most notable novel is the Great Gatsby and shows creativity in the novel along with the other side with partying. In an analysis of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s poems Rain Before Dawn and City Dusk one can see how the Modernist elements of concerned with how an individual relates to their environment or how the environment helps to create the individual and cynicism are demonstrated.
