Module 8 - DQ 2: Reflect on the information presented in this course. How will the information on finding a content expert influence your research plans?
The information presented in this course (RES-866-0500) has given me the core research designs for my dissertation. According to GCU (2013), the study designs and the associated data analysis discussed in this course provide opportunities for the novice researcher to practice the tools and techniques of data analysis through hands-on exercises. I don’t think finding a content expert will influence my research plans. However, I do believe that I must first get a clear direction of methodology in mind and lay out my topic with that method at that point. I believe there will be enough resources
Each study analysis will be 1,000-1,250 words and submitted in one document. As with the assignments in Topics 1-3, this should connect to your identified practice problem of interest.
This lesson allows you to elaborate on the work you did in Lesson 12. Using the research proposal you developed in Lesson 12 as a foundation, choose a sampling methodology that compliments your original proposal. Do not include specific questions in your proposal. Use the structure illustrated below. The proposal will be evaluated using, in part, your use of the methodologies described in the text.
This course will provide me with the fundamental principles of research methodology and analytics as applied to conducting research in the health sciences. It covers the fundamentals of defining a research problem, designing a study, measuring variables, selecting a sample, analyzing data, and the development of research reports and presentations. It will develop my skills for analyzing research and assessment of health behaviors and health problems.
179). This is an important statement as it means the researcher needs to start thinking about how they will analyze their data before they even collect it. In order to properly analyze the data, the researcher should transcribe each interview and then compare it to their observations and journal (Badenhorst, 2008). When analyzing the data the researcher must keep in mind the research questions, and create themes through the data that relate to the research question. First, the researcher will analyze each session together, coming up with keynotes and themes from the observations, interviews, and journals (Anderson & Austin, 2012). Once that is analyzed, each piece from each session will then be compared with each other. For example did participants enjoy the program in session 1 but not by session 5? Why did this happen? Was the program too repetitive? Was it the same thing over and over? Was there a different instructor? After the analysis is done the researcher must put the data into a legible discussion
Conduct research for, and write a research essay on a topic related to one of the three previous sections of Module 1:
(1) Content: Determine what information the source can give you. Is it relevant to your subject? Will it help you complete your study?
Reflect on the information presented in this course. How will the information on finding a content expert influence your research plans? When did the course information give you new insight on your proposed research methodology and design for your dissertation research study? Will this new insight change anything in your prospectus? If so, what steps will you take to update your prospectus? Explain.
Among the techniques learned in the course material (Tappen, 2011), the three techniques which could be considered vital in research are first “ well-designed plan for tracking participants” (p. 202), second, “conduct the study in an accessible and comfortable location” (p.202) and third “respect for cultural values, beliefs, and norms” (p.203).
This template directs you to portions of the course text, Educational Research: Planning, Conducting, and Evaluating Quantitative and Qualitative Research (Creswell, 2008). Each table includes chapter numbers
I am going to begin my research by firstly creating focus questions and research them and analyse them to guide
I studied this module online. I had to login to the Discussion Board everyday for about 40 minutes and read some chapters which are available in Learning Materials. After carefully studying and analyzing the materials available, I have to ask the author some questions which are related to the text, background assumptions, practical and professional implications, social and ethical consequences , or research implications.
It was important at first to read through the data to digest the information. Then time was spent in thinking through the information gathered before reading through it again carefully. Through reading and rereading, 'implied meanings ' were gathered and links were found in the field notes and journals. The data was cross searched for patterns and dividing the data by type. Data was strengthened when it was repeated in more that one case and in more than one method (Soy, 2006).
Within this assignment there will be a clear demonstration and understanding of the concept of research in relation to the acquisition of underpinning knowledge appropriate to my programme of study. I will also be undertaking a comparative analysis of the nature and validity of quantitative and qualitative research methods. I will also be demonstrating skills in critical analysis of methods of data collection and selection of appropriate methods to informing future working practice. I will also be analyse the ethical considerations in relation to the development and undertaking of research.
Assess the strengths and limitations of each of the research designs presented in Week 2and 3.
As I spent the first week in collecting data, it is time to analyse the collected data in the second week of my professional work placement. Data analysis method is a way to organize and map my collected data in a pattern that could be interpreted (Bell, 2010). It should be able to assist me finding answers for my research question by asking myself, “Did my data analysis add new concepts and practices about the inclusive education, or open the gate for a more questions? Is it taking me to the next step in my research cycle?
