1. What are the MYSTERIES of the MONA LISA? (ONE PAGE MIN)
There are many mysteries surrounding Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa painting, many of which have never been solve and continues to plague the art society. As more centuries past since the creation of this famous woman, more mysteries are solve and yet at the same time more are created. For many years one of the biggest mysteries was who stole the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911 and its travels to Asia and North America during the 1960s and 1970s contributed to the painting's iconization and fame. Which then lead to the idea of why Da Vinci would paint this specific image. How ever the biggest modern mystery came to light during the theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre in 1911, when a second Mona Lisa was discovered. The Isleworth Mona Lisa is a paint of the same subject Lisa del Giocondo at a much younger and earlier stage. English art collector Hugh Blaker discovered the painting in the home of a family it had been for nearly 100 years. This discovery led to the conjecture that Leonardo painted two portraits of Lisa del Giocondo: the famous one in The Louvre, and the one discovered by Blaker, who bought the painting and took it to his studio in Isleworth, London, from which it takes its name.We can see that the image is not complete in the background and that there are other artifacts such as the column in the Isleworth. Along with the fact that it is bigger and attached to a second piece of canvas, also the coloring is a little different. Which leads to the biggest questions and mystery, did Leonardo Da Vinci really paint the Isleworth Mona Lisa and if he did then why was it hidden from the world. More importantly when did he paint it and why did he paint a second version of the famous painting. He was a painter, sculptor, mathematician, inventor and engineer. Some of his most famous works are The Last Supper; the painting represents the last meal shared by Jesus with his disciples before his capture and death. It shows specifically the moment when Jesus has just said "one of you will betray me". Leonardo tells the story of the consternation that this statement caused to the twelve followers of Jesus. And then there is the Mona Lisa; its fame rests, in particular, on the elusive smile on the woman's face, its mysterious quality brought about perhaps by the fact that the artist has subtly shadowed the corners of the mouth and eyes so that the exact nature of the smile cannot be determined.
