Melinda Sordino completely loathes the cliques at Merryweather High school, there are so many it is overwhelming. There's a group for every type of person , in theory it should work, but it does not, simply because people are seclude to one certain group and have to keep up to a certain standard. I think another reason why Melinda hates the cliques is, because she is all alone and does not fit anywhere, so seeing the cliques is just another painful reminder. Also Melinda losses the only friend she had to the Martha's , which is serious blow to her self esteem. This quote best describes how Melinda feels” We fall into clans: Jocks, Country Clubbers, Idiot Savants, Cheerleaders, Human Waste, Eurotrash, Future Fascists of America, Big Hair Chix,
The atrocities that the Jews were subjected to during the World War ll are by far the most unjust and unjustifiable crimes in human history. Ellie Wiesel’s testimony is heartbreaking. Seeing Auschwitz’s camp through Elie's eyes is very different from seeing it in any other way. It still seems unbelievable that an entire nation was sentenced to death just because they did not have blue eyes and blond hair. The cruelty that was used to remove the jews from their homes is terrifying. Additionally, removing their identities and dehumanizing them were steps in confining the Jews to a faith that resembles animals waiting to be slaughtered. Finally, the killing that is happening day and night in the gas chambers is beyond the most disturbing and scary
: Quirky would be the laymen way of defining Candace Michelle, however, why would we want to take a leisurely stroll when we could strut like a peacock showing his full glory as we proclaim the wonders of her. Candace principal question to a person she meets for the first time is “if she was to strip you
Melinda Sordino is influenced by peer pressure because her friends went to a party where she ended up drinking and getting involved with a boy (Addy) who took advantage of her. I do not think I was ever involved with anything like this because my grandmother is a strict woman, so I was never aloud out of the house unless it was with family. I thought it was very dumb of Melinda to do that because going to a party and drinking at that age is wrong, these kids need to find some type of discipline. Melinda had a better way of handling the situation by telling an adult that she trusted,I feel like if she never went to that party none of this would have happened. Her family and friends around can be a better influence to her, talk to her, be there
High Schools across the United States have students with different ethnicities and cultures. However, in the 1950’s the world was different and the thought of integration was perceived by many as an instrumental goal. There were white and black schools, parks, water fountains, restaurants, and communities. Melba Pattillo Beals was among one of the first African-American to change the landscape of integration in schools. In 1957, Beals and eight other African American students would change the color divider for generations to come, although with change comes sacrifice. The help of her family and the protection of the soldiers in the school from the animosity of her white classmates and the white community helped Beals endure the trials and tribulations

I know it can be difficult to pronounce unfamiliar names correctly, but one thing I have never been able to wrap my mind around is why 90% of teachers and substitutes, when taking attendance, completely butcher a simple last name that sounds exactly as it is spelled. It has gotten to the point where my close friends habitually point out the instructor’s error more than I do myself. The first occasion where a teacher takes role call for the hour calls out, “Kelsey Pahsler?” Without hesitation, I raise my hand in response and mumble under my breath, “It’s actually Postler, similar to that of a bedpost” for seemingly the thousandth time. My full name is Kelsey Marie Postler, but often times my friends and family refer to me as just Kels. Over the course of 17 years, I have come to love both my name and nickname and consider them to be very well-fitting to my personality and background.
