Montclair State University Application Essay

I aspire to attend the Clark Atlanta University because it is a symbol for past and future generations of educational and operational excellence. Clark Atlanta University is the hub of African American leadership and educational expansion, and with the constant policing of the community and poaching of black culture in today’s society, it is significant that I achieve an education that represents myself and the world with which I am familiar and intend to change for the better.

Two of my long-range goals are to spread the joy of playing music and to make a difference in this world through research and development of environment-friendly technology. Continuance of my education in music is essential for me to become more proficient as a musician, and through this journey I will have more opportunities to share the joy I experience through music. Likewise, academic training in a STEM field, specifically engineering, will allow me to move in the direction of developing technology that will sustain the environment for future generations as well as harness renewable energy thus minimizing our negative footprint on Earth.

As an incoming EOF (Educational Opportunity Found) freshmen attending Rutgers University this fall, I had the mindset that if I did well academically, the transition from high school to college would go by smoothly. Unfortunately, college isn 't that simple. The transition to college is much more complex than people perceive it to be, in my case, it’s the most difficult obstacle I’ve ever encountered. Therefore, my aspiration is to conquer this transitional period as quickly and fluently as possible. When I had to changeover from middle school to high school, I was terrified. I didn 't know what awaited me and how much different things were going to be. It turned out high school was exactly the same, with the exception of the grades being ninth through Twelfth. There was nothing to be worried about. On the other hand, that wouldn 't be the case in college.

It is with pride and humility that I have chosen Suny Empire State College as the institution to pursue my studies. This college affords me the opportunity of enrolling without the standard entry test, which is a requirement of most traditional colleges. It also allows me to tailor my studies in the area of Emergency Management. Suny Empire State College will makes it easier for me as a student to study and work due to the constraints of my schedule. Having a mentor is a great incentive, it provides guidance, motivation, and emotional support which is always needed and welcome. Ashford University is a instituion that holds itself with great prestige and respect. While attending I'll be able to advance my knowledge of teaching and children’s emotional, social, and physical needs to better help them grow. I feel it will push my career and academic goals in the right direction aswell as push my limits academically.

The transition from high school to college is a dynamic time in one’s life that parallels the change from childhood to adulthood. Both of these changes are dramatic and, as a result, feelings are difficult to put down into words. A messy combination of emotions fills the heart, surfacing in strange ways. Confident high school seniors go right back to the bottom of the chain when entering college as freshmen. These students start all over, just like entering grade school or high school for the first time. The move up from high school to college signals the switch from dependence to self-sufficiency. From a personal point of view, going through the experience of graduating high school and transferring to a residential college campus at STLCOP, made me realize I was no longer a kid and capable of making my own decisions.

Throughout my life as a child and teenager, I was told by my parents that they worked really hard to get to the safe town and community that we lived in. Growing up in Pacific Grove, California gave me lots opportunities that I didn’t even know I obtained. Unless it had happened to me personally, I didn’t really understand the full picture of what others had to go through. Having dyslexia, the only subject I felt I really excelled in was art. After high school, I still had no idea what I wanted to do for a career or even a major. Monterey Peninsula College has boosted my confidence by showing me that I can be and do much more. Two years ago I would never have guessed that I would be applying to the University of Washington.

Excellence motivates me to achieve, regardless of hardships and obstructions in my path. I put in effort and hard work to maintain a healthy balance with school, work, and extracurricular activities, so that I can continue to achieve. I have visited Rutgers University several times last year and each time lowered me in more and more. My first visit was to the Rutgers Camden Campus for Open House event. The information received sparked a curiosity inside of me to check out what the other campuses had to offer me. After doing much-needed research on what I really wanted to do with my life and career goals I began to have my eyes set on Rutgers University Newark Campus. I then made sure that I had to make it to the next upcoming Fall Open House to experience this wonderful campus for myself.

Recently, my appeal for more financial aid has been rejected. While this is a disappointment, I would like to further explain my situation as to why I am asking for more financial help. While I first started the college process, I was engaged and eager to finally step out of my comfort zone. After researching Ithaca for the past years and visiting during accepted students day, I knew that Ithaca College was the best fit for me. The idea of living there on my own for the next four years seemed like a great opportunity to develop my independence and to gain new experiences. After graduating high school, no one prepares you for college. Most kids when they are finished with high school don’t even fantasize about going back to school. I have always wanted to go to college ever since I was a young kid. I also had dreams of myself going to college, but in my dreams, everything was picture perfect. In reality, college has been very challenging for me. No one tells you about the adjustments and complications that you would have to face to become a successful college student.

For as long as I can remember, helping others has always been my passion. Allow me to introduce myself. I am senior scholar Diamond J Bennett and I attend City University School of Liberal Arts in Memphis Tennessee. I’ve always admired being someone’s helping hand, or shoulder to lean on. That is why my number one goal in life is to attend a university majoring in Nursing. Nurses are caregivers, trained heros, to care for the sick and infirm. By attending Middle Tennessee State University, I believe I will play as an amazingly great asset to the true blue team!

If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I will have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there. I feel the Suffolk University can lay the groundwork for making these dreams into reality.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one student to dissolve the bonds which have held him to his high school life, he can get fairly intimidated. Making the transition from high school to college can be a tough one. I remember my experience in such a transition vividly, as it was only a short time ago.
