The narrator who had the proud name of a Montresor, had the psychopathic traits of charming as he devilishly thought of what he was yet to do. (Poe, Edgar Allan) This man for sure had many psychopathic traits ranging from sly and charming to feeling no remorse or empathy to feeling so much self-worth that he had to kill! Montresor was most-definitely a psychopath.("Psychopathic") In the story of Cask of Amontillado a man by the name of Montresor got revenge on an innocent man by the name of Fortunato.(Poe, Edgar Allan) Some may say that he was just defending his name and his family after being insulted the way he was. Yes, that was what he was doing but the way he defended his family and himself was a bit too extreme. He went as far as to kill the man for insulting his family's name; that was a bit far. Montresor had other ways he could have handled the insults from Fortunato.He had the option to speak to the man or even if he wanted to get back at him it was possible …show more content…

In the act of chaining Fortunato and bricking up the room he was in Montresor had no second thoughts. Not once did he think, "Maybe I shouldn't being doing this," or "This isn't the right thing to do to this man." He just carried on without one feeling of empathy. He needed this man to die knowing he should not have done what he had. When Montresor had finished Fortunato screamed and screamed and Montresor was not phased or affected at all by the horrid screams. He screamed back showing him no one would hear them and that he did not feel guilt at all. When Fortunato had ended his screaming Montresor left the tunnels telling no one of the actions that had just taken place. He left without any feelings of remorse or guilt for what he had done.
