Sam & Suzy Connection
In Wes Anderson and Roman Coppola’s right of passage screenplay, Moonrise Kingdom, the connection of Sam & Suzy advances. The protagonist Sam Shukusky, is an orphan and seems to be misunderstood and he seeks a family throughout the play. There are three ways Sam and Suzy connect with each other, both are misunderstood, they feel unloved, and love one another. This essay will show how Sam and Suzy connect with each other. The first connection between Sam and Suzy is that they are misunderstood. Sam’s scouts and foster family do not understand him. Sam wanted the love his parents had. Sam and Suzy went above and beyond to be together. They ran away together twice knowing that eventually they would get caught but to them it was worth being together. Sam and Suzy are even willing to die to be together. They were about to jump off the top of the church building into the water,during a really bad storm. Suzy and Sam showed how far they are willing to go to be with each other despite others opinions. That is showing how they really love each other. This is the love connection they both share for one another.
Throughout the essay I stated the connections between Suzy and Sam. I realized as I was writing this paper and as i read the screenplay that the connections these two young people had are connections adults look for throughout their life. The types of connections they shared are connections people look for in love and marriage. The actions in this screenplay are actual things that happen in the world and people’s day to day lives.
