Moral Differences Between Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde seem to be the same person with different personalities. A human personality can have many sides such as good and evil. Mr. Hyde represents all that is evil in Dr. Jekyll. Therefore, obvious differences, both mental and physical have to exist between the two characters.

The characters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde have completely opposite personalities. As Dr. Jekyll seems to be mentally sound, Mr. Hyde is unstable. Dr. Jekyll is pleasant to look at, while people turn away in disgust from Mr. Hyde. Where Dr. Jekyll is an upstanding citizen, Mr. Hyde is evil. These two, distinct personalities show the duality of man.

Completing Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”, it is clear there is an odd and unusual relationship between the two main characters, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The two characters can be seen as one person but with drastically different personalities. Dr. Jekyll is an older, well liked, respectable doctor. While, Mr. Hyde is younger, hideous, evil, and dwarf like. The different personalities represent that every man/woman have two personalities inside them.

In the novel, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, are mentally very different. Dr. Jekyll is a man who is well liked in his community, and is regarded as a good doctor. He helps with charities, and has many friends. Jekyll is intelligent, and well spoken. Mr. Hyde is just the opposite. He is mentally unstable, has a violent streak, and is not friendly or sociable. Most people that know Dr. Jekyll are quite confused by the relationship between Jekyll and Hyde. They are so extremely different mentally that it does not seem likely that the two would be friends.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is one person with two distinct personalities. The author uses the theme of duality throughout the story to describe the opposite nature of the two characters and the struggle they bear. Dr. Jekyll is a kind and handsome soul, well educated and liked by his friends and colleagues. Mr. Hyde is an evil and dark individual.

Despite the difference between Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde, their relationship is complicated and confusing. While it is true that Dr.Jekyll appears as caring, doing charity work and enjoying a reputation as a courteous man, he in fact never gets virtue in the way Mr.Hyde takes evil. Although Dr.Jekyll undertakes his experiments with the intent of purifying his good side from his bad and vice versa, he ends up separating the bad alone, while leaving his former self, his Jekyll self, as mixed as before. Dr.Jekyll succeeds in making his darker side worse, yet as Dr.Jekyll never gets rid of his darkness.

Duality is arguably the most prominent theme of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, appearing throughout the story in various descriptions and plot points. In the beginning of the book, however, there is no direct evidence of the unity of the two personalities of Dr. Jekyll, that of himself and his inner demon - Mr. Hyde. It is for this reason that the story remains intriguing to the end, keeping the reader guessing about the identity of Mr. Hyde and his relationship to the esteemed Dr. Jekyll up until the denouement. The explicitness of the descriptions of two seemingly two separate men make it seem as though they are in fact two men caught up in dangerous business. Jekyll is more respectful and kind, but Hyde doesn't care and is rude. Jekyll is trying his hardest to control his two personalities so that he won't be discovered. In conclusion, the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde shows the idea of the “ duality of a man “ by showing Dr. Jekyll’s two personalities his nice side and evil side. Dr Jekyll was afraid that Utterson might have discovered Hyde, so Jekyll said that he no longer wanted to hear what Utterson had to say. Jekyll was very kind to his friends, but Hyde was the opposite.

The characters Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde from The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, do not share many of the same characteristics. They are like two sides of a coin, one shiny and new, the other old and dull. They are two completely separate personalities, but in only one physical body.

Dr.Jekyll is moral. He represents the idea of good while Mr. Hyde is more of the idea of evil. They were not two different people it was more like the good and bad side of one person. Dr. Jekyll was seen as a well respected doctor and Mr. Hyde did things that were thought of as despicable. There was a noticeable difference in morality between the two personalities.

Both men have a very smart, but different personality. Dr. Jekyll is a very polite and friendly gentleman. He is known by the whole community and is very outgoing. Mr. Hyde, however, is totally different. He causes a lot of evil and his mysterious personality keeps him isolated from most of the community.

The mental differences between the two are their personalities. The one personality is caring and calm where-as the other is non-caring and has a lot of anger, has no feelings. Dr. Jekyll for instance is a scientist who has lots of friends rather than Mr. Hyde who is a murderer and has no one but himself. While Dr. Jekyll is in his lab, Mr. Hyde is on the streets. Hyde is a murderer. He murdered a man who people very much liked. He beat him down with cane.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are the same people in their physical state but in mental are very different. The smart Stunning doctor is polite and has lots of good traits. The other side of him is cruel and cynical even murderous.

I shall first start by contrasting Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Dr. Jekyll is a kind caring and passionate friend. He wants to help people any way he can. whereas Mr. Hyde is not caring gives off an odd felling of hate and has no compassion for anybody. An example of this would be when he trampled

This novel can be interpreted in many different ways; from the duality of human nature to the loss of control of many things, such as loss of judgment and moral control which plays a huge role in this novel. Dr. Jekyll has the power to have two personalities because of this concoction, and he is fully capable of control his evil side but I don’t believe he wants to completely at first. Yes there is a clear difference between the two characters Dr. Jekyll obviously has a better demeanor and doesn’t commit horrid acts when he is playing this person; however, they are one person. (NCBI) This novel is interesting in the fact the main character transformation is clearly depicted Dr. Jekyll is described as this tall handsome, middle-aged, successful man while Mr. Hyde is described as short, fat, angry man who no one liked. Jekyll and Hyde communicate by writing letters or notes to one another which helps predict what is going to happen next when the next
