For the Health of It In an attempt to help the ecology of our wondrous desert, I plan to take part in National Public Lands Day held at the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve on September 30, 2017 from 8:00am-2:00pm. According to the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve Newsletter (2017), I will assist in repairing trails, fencing, and signs in the preserve. My first step in this project is to get my proposal approved by Mrs. Zacks, of Yucca Valley High School. Second, I will have to negotiate a plan with my parents to drive me there and back as I cannot transport myself. Third, I will listen to music and enjoy the landscape as I ride to the preserve. Fourth, I will participate in the National Public Lands Day in Morongo Valley. Fifth, upon completion of …show more content…
People will be rewarded with a safer, cleaner environment, and the thought of people making a difference in the world. After finishing this project, the environment will be helped because there will be less trash and more area for more trees and other various plants. Morongo will be able to plant more trees and plants to produce more oxygen thus helping the people and animals. By my repairing trails and signs, I will be helping to keep people on the trail and not stepping on the desert plants. I expect to learn more about how the effects my actions impact the environment. By recycling at home, picking up trash, and being aware of my environment, I can make a difference. I have recently found out about a group of people that do regular clean up days in Yucca Valley. They too provide bags, grabbers, and a good feeling. My personal relationship with the desert will change after this experience because I will have a different perspective on what I need to do for my environment to keep it clean. With my new-found knowledge, I can spread the word about making the desert clean …show more content…
Plants and trees produce oxygen which will help with my asthma. There will be more oxygen for people after I clean up Morongo. This process will not only help my asthma but it will just be better in general. For example, we live in a world with a nice and clean environment vs. we live in a world with a polluted desert producing not as clean oxygen. The problems I may face are dehydration, the heat, and a ride back home. I may face dehydration because of the heat and not getting enough water. This may be a problem because the body needs water to survive. I may also face a problem of getting home because the same day my parents are attending a wedding. I will help myself by making sure I stay hydrated and make sure I wear appropriate clothing and maybe a hat to work in. The person to help me with a ride home will either be my parents, my aunt, or a
Growing up I was fortunate to live five miles from the main entrance to the largest subtropical, sawgrass prairie in North America, Everglades National Park. For years, the Everglades revealed its natural treasures as my family and I enjoyed hours of canoeing, hiking, fishing, and bird watching within the park. I had the privilege to attend an elementary school that established a partnership with the Everglades Environmental Center. In fact, in 4th grade I was one of twenty-five students selected to go camping five nights at the Loop Road Interpretive Center, forty miles deep in the glades. My camping experience provided an invaluable lesson about always being honest and the importance of obeying the national park regulations.
This project helps with the environment by disposing of garbage properly. I will take time during my lunch to do a good deed to the planet for a week. I will also be expected to learn more how trash affects the ecosystem. It just so happens, without each of us doing our part damages to the
Our project is going to help our environment hopefully drastically. My team and I will pick up little pieces of plastic. When birds or any alternative animal consume plastic the animal cannot digest it so the plastic sits in many animal's stomach and builds up filling the bird completely with plastic. Consequently, all birds or any other animal will soon be full with so much plastic it won't be able to eat real food. I, as the leader of this team will be making sure if we detect any trash we will pick it
Since the canyon is so alluring, it can draw in visitors and make money to keep the park and surrounding businesses up and running. All we have to do is take immediate action to give this park a higher status than it already has. Afterwards, we can sit down and take in the views of what we helped fight
Air Pollution today has lead CDC's fight against environmental -related respiratory illness, including asthma. An estimated number of 6.5 million deaths are attributed each year to poor air quality, making this the world's largest threat to human health.According to the World Energy Outlook and the IEA estimate that death due to household air pollution in Africa may decrease by 110,00 to 2040.However, due to economic growth, urbanization and automobile emissions, outdoor air pollution may rise from 300,00 to 450,000 over the same period. Am going to be looking at the causes of air pollution. the problems emerging with air pollution and also how we as a community can help decrease the amount of death rate associated with air pollution.I remember growing up in Africa Air pollution was always a talk about a subject that always comes out because it is really contagious due to the fact that we are breathing bad air that is caused by our human contribution to the environment.Air pollution is considered to be a public health problem, it is responsible for most of our health problems after some research has been conducted in many different parts of the world and regions. According to the Geochemistry and Health paleopathological research suggests that air pollution is a form of smoke, plagued our oldest ancestors.Air pollution has emerged as one of the leading risk factors for stroke worldwide.
Nature is a beautiful place for people to be active and enjoy quality time. My ecology project was to beautify the Morongo preserve by cleaning the trails by removing the intruding plants. I arrived at Big Morongo Canyon Preserve on September 30th, and turned in my signed waiver. A worker explained each of the jobs to me, in which I chose to remove weeds off the trail. I created a group which included Markina, Sierra, Sara, and Trinity. A worker guided us to the trail and helped us distinguish which plants to remove. I removed the invading plants by pulling each one by hand with a lot of force to make sure I removed the roots completely. Then I placed them inside plastic bags and disposed of them into a large garbage bin. Removing the invasive
While I certainly do not consider myself one who is particularly concerned with the environment, I do enjoy God’s creation and find that making my little corner of the world friendly for a wide variety of flora, fauna, and animal life brings an amount of satisfaction to me. Therefore, my three goals tie into things that are already important to me.
On September 30th, I will go the Morongo Canyon Preserve. September 30th is National Public Lands Day. My entire process will include five steps all completed by September 30th. My first step is planning. Not only will I need transportation -my second step- but I will also need to call the preserve. Since I have already done that, I’ve gotten more information. My third step is safety. I plan to volunteer on September 30th at the preserve and they will provide me with gloves, tools, water, etc. My fourth step is the actual volunteer work. This is my main step, and the most important. I plan to volunteer from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. My fifth and final step is once again transportation. This is my last step because when my volunteering is over
Helping to restore this pond humbled me and made me reflect on myself and my community. The efforts made by all participants was wonderful to me, each had showed up to work with pure intentions. This project is meaningful to me because it reflects strong Hawaiian values and preserves a part of Hawaii's history. With each of our efforts, we fought to restore a piece of history by giving back to the land and creating a better environment.
While writing an essay about the future of Ascarate Park, I learned that I am not alone in envisioning the parks true potential. Local residents and now government officials are speaking up and taking action. Especially encouraging is Government official, David Stout’s plans for the local park. He proclaimed Ascarate Park as an “important park in El Paso” and stated a funding plan. In turn, local El Paso residents are finally hopeful and eager to see the positive impact on Ascarate Park and the surrounding neighborhood. Such a beautiful green space should be nurtured to its fullest potential for wildlife and locals to appreciate.
For my National Public Lands Day project, to better the environment, I am volunteering at the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve. National Public Lands Day promotes both outdoor enjoyment, volunteering, and conservation of public lands. This event takes place on September 30th at 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. I will arrange a ride with my mom, then gather the needed supplies. My mom will drop me off a 8:00 a.m. with a group of park rangers, to whom I will address. For the following six hours the park rangers will assign the fellow volunteers and I specific tasks to complete.
It was the hottest day in this summer on June 19th, 2016 when I went for the outdoor volunteer job at Ulistac Natural Area which is located at Lick Mill Blvd, city of Santa Clara. This land is devoted for seven specific types of natural habitant which was open in 2001. The organizer Mr. Dennis Dowling said they recently received a letter from the State government that this place will be one of the historical place for California. He also added this place belongs to Ohlone Indian tribe, and their chief’s name was Ulistac, that’s why it was named after him. This place needs the help of volunteers to prevent the wild life habitat.
However, they will reduce how impactful the effects are. Moving forward, Phoenicians can be educated on how the effects of air pollution can be prevented. Preventing exposure to dust will reduce the chances of dust entering the body. When driving in a dust storm, drivers can turn on their hazard lights and slowly move to the side of road until the storm passes though. As one can see, these simple actions can prevent the escalation of a crisis. Acting upon proposed solutions that can reduce the effects of this problem has the potential to change lives of citizens. In a time where air quality and pollution is evident, solving these problems will ease the mind of the everyday citizens. Improving air quality will allow citizens not only in Arizona, but around the globe to freely take a breath without being concerned about the effect that it may have on
The Big Morongo website states “Morongo Preserve helps the environment by being the home to bighorn sheep, mule deer, raccoons, bobcats, frogs, reptiles, and 240 species of breeding migrating birds. Also there’s many butterflies and dragonflies that are over there. The canyon melts the snow so it can make Perennial Springs” (Friend’s of Big Morongo Canyon Preserve). So that means a good amount of water can be brought to the animals. An aspect is that there's a great amount of food. Overall the Preserve is a great place for wildlife to live and stay.
Air is a part of all of our lives. Without clean air, nothing we know of can
