When you watch the movie High Noon, and read the story "The Most Dangerous Game" you may not see many similarities or differences when you first read, or watch. But you might start to put the puzzle pieces together when you watch a second time or begin to think about what's the same or different about them. One of the main similarities in both stories is that the main characters are outnumbered by their enemies. This is a reoccurring theme in both. In High Noon, there are four bad guys coming to town to take their revenge on Will Kane. In "The Most Dangerous Game" Rainsford is hunted by Ivan, general Zaroff, and his pack of dogs. Another similarity I spotted was when both characters needed help the most there was no one who was brave enough to help them. One of the major differences between them was they both had different settings, and move at a different pace. However this helps build the stories. Both stories have their own way of building suspense. Each of these stories take showing the theme and differences to a whole new level …show more content…
All of their enemies had partners to come and try to take them down but they are both able to survive using their wits. In "The Most Dangerous Game" we see that our main character is struggling to survive because the first day it is just Zaroff that is hunting Rainsford. On day two he brings Ivan and on the third day " It was the baying of a pack of hounds" (Connell 13-14). On the last day that Rainsford has to survive, General Zaroff decides to comes out with all of his hounds to hunt Rainsford. He is clearly outnumbered by three. The quote from High Noon that shows how he is outnumbered by the worst bad guys in the old western is "You, me, Against all four of them?" (Foreman 332) Both character were highly outnumbered, but they both fought well using all their wits. They both defeated their opponents just by using their
High Noon, a critically acclaimed movie. "The Most Dangerous Game", an awarded short story. High Noon stars Will Kane, a sheriff who put a criminal in jail, and now is back for revenge on the noon train which is the only way in and out of the town. "The Most Dangerous Game" stars Rainsford, a hunter who gets stuck on a island who hunts men for sport, and is the next prey for the man. The stories might seem not different or similar to some people, but the setting, characters, and themes have both similarities and differences.
Both High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game take place in an isolated area. Even though they literally take place differently, they are both isolated from their friends and family. High Noon is about a marshal who has to face a person who is going to kill him and has no one to help him survive. "Kane emerges from the church...then goes wearily on" (Foreman 317). This quote is from the camera's perspective and is showing that after Will Kane has asked the members in the church to come and help him, he was left alone and no one agreed to help him. He had to leave the church in shame since he wasn't helped when he is used to having people help him. The Most Dangerous Game is about a hunter who has to try to not be hunted and has no one to help him survive. "'Where there are pistol shots, there are men. Where there are men, there is food,' he thought" (Connell). This is showing us that Sanger Rainsford is all alone and is trying to survive. He is isolated from his peers and the only thing that he can think about is trying to get food. He had to use his skill in order to find a way to survive while being isolated. Both the story and the movie show how even when you are isolated, you can still
The two stories, High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game, build up the protagonist Rainsford and Kane in different ways, and create similarities and differences in which these characters have. The differences impact the stories to make them different; however, they still end up being some what the same. As these stories progress, there are similarities that start to form. High Noon and The Most Dangerous Game both have common ideas that help create the stories but also share a handful of differences as well.
High Noon and “The Most Dangerous Game” are two very similar stories. Both are action-packed, exciting stories. They share many similarities throughout their story, but also share many differences. The Most Dangerous Game Comparison Recently we have read a short story called The Most Dangerous Game. It’s about a man, Rainsford, who falls off his yacht and swims to a remote island. On that island he discovers a medieval house of a rich hunter, General Zaroff. He visits with Zaroff and finds out that he hunts a “new species” of animal on that very island.
In two stories entitled The Most Dangerous Game and High Noon, we find that the two stories are very similar, yet rather different. In The Most Dangerous Game written by Carl Foreman a world renowned hunter named Rainsford fights for his life, while participating in a game ran by Zaroff. In High Noon, a film written by Richard Connel, a Marshall fights to save his life all alone.
High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game" share many similarities throughout the text. For example the setting. Both stories do a great job of displaying how far away the characters are from civilization. "It bakes in the sun, a rather crooked and winding street that seems deserted now in the Sunday calm" (Foreman 288). This quote from High Noon, focuses in on the Main Street of the town. It isn 't very busy because of how small the town is, and the fact that it is in the middle of a desert. The only way in and out of the town is by train and not many people want to go into the desert, so the town doesn 't have many visitors. "Jagged crags appear to jump up into the opaqueness; he forced himself upward, hand over hand. Grasping his hands raw, he reached a flat piece at the top. Dense jungle came down to the very edge of the cliffs" (Connell 214). This quote
In the vast variety of stories we have created in the world, each one has its own diversity that sets it apart from the others. But even the most imaginative stories can share similar ideas and aspects with other ones, whether it be similarities in the world, characters, plots, circumstances, or themes. Two stories that are quite alike but also noticeably different are High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game." The similarities they share are very subtle, because most of their relation to one another comes from their differences. The former story is about revenge that the antagonist seeks, which fears the protagonist, Will Kane. The latter story, however, is a survival story that centers around a hunting game that ignites fear in the protagonist, Sanger Rainsford, who acts as the prey in the game. Both stories share similar settings, such that they isolate the characters. However, other aspects of the stories, like characters and plot, are different from one another. Although a western movie and a thrilling survival story may seem obtrusively different, High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game" share many similar features and aspects, among which are
Everyone does certain things when they can’t have what they desire and often they are mean. Whether they mean it or not it still happens. In “The Most Dangerous Game” Zaroff can’t be the best hunter in the world with Rainsford still alive, so since he could not get what he desired Zaroff hunts and attempts to kill Rainsford. In “All Summer In A Day.” Margot can remember the sun from while on Earth, however on Mars the sun comes out only once every 7 years causing the kids not to remember and to be jealous. Resulting in the kids locking Margot in a closet before the sun comes out because they can not get what they desire, which is to see the sun everyday. Both Richard Connell in “The Most Dangerous Game” and Ray Bradbury in “All Summer In A Day” we can see how the authors use actions and feelings to get across the point of people do mean things when they can not have what they desire.
We all know what heroes are, and they both in literature and in our own lives face challenges, whether it be physical or mental, these conflicts are what makes a good story. What really is conflict in literature? The heroes are always fighting against something, and it can be quite different from hero to hero, but there is one common archwire. There are many types of conflict and we experience them ourselves in our own lives, but in stories what is it? “All conflict in literature is, in its simplest form, a struggle between good and evil.” - Anonymous. In other words, in most stories, there is a backbone of good and evil fighting each other. I would agree with this statement because all stories need conflict and most have a “good” side and a “bad” side, or a person with better morals than the opposing character.
“One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard Rainsford” said the General. “Now it’s my turn tonight I’ll give you a knife, three days’ worth of food, and a clothes. If you win you can kill me if I win I’ll kill you.” When night fell Zaroff stroke out for the darkness. “I’ll give him 1 hour.” said Rainsford. So while Rainsford was waiting he had some brandy and some croissants. One hour later Rainsford got one hound and nothing else. Rainsford was going to fight this out hand to hand. Zardoff went to the exact tree that Rainsford claimed and went to sleep. Rainsford’s dog picked up the sent and took off running Rainsford right on the tail right to the tree. When Rainsford looked up the tree Zaroff was gone no were in sight. The hound couldn’t find the sent again. So Rainsford killed the hound because it looked like Zaroff.
How could an innocent game lead to a future of unwanted consequences? No one expects the worst until it finally occurs to them. My little sister is quite competitive when it comes to winning. Eager to have a slight taste of victory was all it took for her to get into “Game Mode” as I would like to call it. She’ll be too determined on stealing the ball from me that she will do anything to win.

It is around this time he soon learns that if he wants to leave, he must win a game where he is the hunted, "The Most Dangerous Game"! High Noon and “The Most Dangerous Game” is a movie and story containing many differences and similarities. High Noon is a great movie made by Carl Foreman taking place in the Wild West, where the protagonist, Will Kane, must protect himself and the people of his town from a gang trying to get revenge on him.
