For many people, the most influential moment in their educational career is probably when their teacher taught them how to count or help pick them up when they feel down. Perhaps it's a lesson you learn or a consequence of your action. However, my story is kinda different. The most influential moment in my educational career does not come from learning a lesson, rather it's about being exposed to a new form of education. I moved to US in the middle of my 6th grade year, before that I was living in Thailand. I quickly like my new school. The teachers were nice and they ready the counsel you on the issue you may have. Oh yeah, I quickly discover these things call raising your hand and answer questions or expressing your opinion to the class.

It was a night resembling every other preceding it, though within it was a pivotal moment directing me on a path to a world of medicine. As the rays of light began to recede and the sounds of the crickets chirping resonated louder with each passing minute, there I sat upon the curb watching my younger family members race back and forth across the gravel in pursuit of earning their team a goal. The parents stood idly by conversing with one another, failing to notice when a particular young boy tripped on one knee with great force. Slowly he stood as the other players on the field continued playing without a glance towards their injured teammate. Turning in the opposite direction he walked to a secluded area, slumped down, and bowed his head while cupping his knee. Approaching him, I noticed there was the faint sound of sniffling. Bending down I asked if he was hurt and at last he raised his head, still holding on to his knee. Putting on a brave face he responded with a resolute no.
One major experience that has shaped me as a person would be the decision to join FFA my freshman year. FFA has allowed me many incredible opportunities and experiences these past four years.
The most powerful learning experience I had was in second grade when I was acting out in school over not having a family structure. My teacher kept talking to me about making better decisions and finally she submitted my name for the VIP of the month and I was able to eat lunch at a special table with her and the principal. I don't remember her name but from that moment on I knew I mattered enough for someone to notice; so I should make good decisions and from them on I was a model student.
Many people influenced and events my reading and writing development throughout my childhood from my mother, my elementary librarian, and Sesame Street, to getting my first pair of glasses. We all have defining moments in our lives where we can look back and say, “That moment changed my life.” This is the story of the defining moment that changed the way I read and write, and I learned it from a whale!
An experience that has made a profound impact on my life was when I directed and completed a community service project to fulfill a requirement for the Eagle Scout Award in the Boy Scouts of America. In order to competently act as coordinator for this service project, I had to develop both my interpersonal communication and leadership capabilities to a proficient level. Besides improving my professional skills, this project gave me the opportunity gain hands on experience working with groups of people who had varying skill levels. So, not only did these skills allow me to complete the project successfully, they have also proven incredibly useful throughout my academic career.
In addition, another representation of a significant moment that I have experienced is when I fell in love with theater. I never perceived when I first stepped on the campus of parkway middle school of the arts that my life would transition forever. I initially came to the parkway for their preeminent dance department, unfortunately, all dance classes were full; the only department left was theater. With the warm welcomes from my classmates, I soon felt comfortable and confident enough to audition for the school musical "High School Musical". Surprisingly I was chosen for one of the leading roles as Miss Sharpay Evans. Characterizing this leading role was not as effortless as it seemed. The cast spent weeks rehearsing the musical, memorizing the lines, songs, and dances. This was a tedious process. Since this was my first show I grew frustrated; I didn’t become conscious that it was normal occasionally for a show to have a few tough rehearsals. I desired to flee the production because I felt as if I wasn’t benefiting the crisis. My astonishing teacher Mrs. Terl conversed with me and inspired me to grow resilient, instead of feeling afraid I grew fearless even if the show was to fall through I was
Going to college to receive a higher education could be one of the biggest obstacles of your life. If it is not the biggest obstacle than it’s certainly the most important. Frank Bruni’s opening question is more appealing to the transition from HighSchool to College. In HighSchool we were all taught to think a certain way when completing any task that dealt with learning. We were taught to remember and understand any work that was taught to students. Even when teachers gave test, they were only testing your ability to remember the material given. High school teachers’ number one objective was for students to remember what is said to pass the exam. However, in college these thinking skills are not acceptable. So approaching Frank Bruni’s opening question “‘What’s the most transformative educational experience you’ve had?’” I had to approach this question with higher thinking or else it would be a High School placement essay. I responded by of course using a little remembering and understanding because I have to understand the words in the question and remember the meaning of them. However, I mostly used theoretical ideas, some logic, understood the value of the question, and finally I combined all of my approaches to see how it would positively increase my diversity in college knowledge.
“War is the only proper school for a surgeon” - Hippocrates. That would be the case in the early 20th century. The early 20th century is commonly associated with war, blood shed and conflict. During this time is when lots of people died. People died due to many things; war or battle, lack of medical care, or even due to an epidemic. Medical care was rough back then, the shortage of doctors and the lack of medical facilities made the death toll higher. Today, we see less people die due to epidemics, lack of medical care and even less due to battle. Thats all possible because medical care during the 20th century is very different from today, given that today we have better facilities, more doctors, and more advanced technology.
Everything we do impacts us one way or another and it has greatly helped us grow as individuals. Things that shape us don't occur during one time frame nor do they seem significant until you put further thought into it. A few moments that have enhanced my personal growth are my student leadership roles, community involvement, and musical achievements. My student leadership roles have allowed me to be more comfortable in my skills along with time management. Similarly, my community involvement has made me more comfortable in a work-based environment and my musical achievements taught me to never give up when it involves something that I am greatly passionate about.
I'm not really sure what to expect moving to a new school in a whole new state. What will it be like? What are the people like? The towns? Are their sidewalks cracked with dandelions growing out of them? What about their streets? Are they flooded cars, or are they empty? Do Neighbors all get along and give you cups of sugar when you're out and unable to run to the store?
Another defining moment in my life is the moment that I was placed into special reading classes. In my mind this marked me as a fool. From that moment on I began to struggle to prove them wrong. From that moment I would study harder than all of my friends, because I had to prove to myself that I was capable. This singular moment instilled in me an inner need to strive and work hard in order to improve. You could say that I have been trying to prove myself as a good student ever
Life seems to take many twists and turns that somehow mesh into each other to form a chaotic knot of happenings. All of these occurrences are supposed to shape you into a wiser more experienced person. Many people can even pin point the exact moment in their life which was forever changed by a single event. When that event happens it becomes an unforgettable memory for you and teaches you a lesson that becomes one of the basic guidelines in your life. The event that forever changed me and was most significant to me was when I decided what I planned on doing for the rest of my life; choosing my major. I knew exactly what I would plan on doing my
When asked who was the most influential person in my life without any hesitation I knew it was my father. My father has impacted my life greatly and has helped me become the person I am today. He has helped me in many ways; he pushes me to be the best, he is always there for me, and he possesses good qualities that I try to obtain.
The events that surround Animal Farm’s publication, and Orwell’s own consistent outlook towards his book provide support of its political meaning. Orwell plays a two-sided game with his reader. He emphasizes the similarities between the animal on Animal Farm and the humans they are designed to represent. At other parts of the narrative Orwell shows with both humor and pathos the profound differences separating animals from man.In doing this, he makes his reader create a distinction between the personalities and conduct of the beasts and those of the human world. the animals are designed to represent working people in their initial social, political, and economic position in society, not just of Animal Farm but of England. Just because all have been subjected to human rule, this does not mean that they will act as a united body once they take over the farm. The qualities which, for Orwell, clearly unite the majority of the animals with their human counterparts, the common working people, are a concern for freedom and equality in society and a form of natural decency which prevents them from desiring power for any personal gain. While his decency hinders the animals from discovering the true nature of the pigs until the final scene, it also provides them with an instinctive feeling for what a fair society might look like. By revealing the division within the animal ranks, Orwell is cautioning his reader to question the animal view of the class struggle, for the crucial problem
