In order to dehumanize a group of people, there must first be a clear separation between who is the “us” and “them.” The conservative documentary Border War: The Battle Over Illegal Immigration (2006), takes the viewer into the lives of several people who are impacted by the growing issue of undocumented Mexican immigrants crossing the The Mexico–United States border. This film creates a one-dimensional or single conception of undocumented immigrants through the use of language, such as “illegal” or “alien” and various other combinations. Another method is through the imagery it showed while there was dialogue being said. Most of the imagery in this film creates a narrative that undocumented Mexican immigrants are violent and a threat to Americans. Additionally, the sympathizers and protesters against border reform were portrayed as anti-American radicals. The production of this documentary was not only used to direct our view of undocumented immigrants to a single account, but also to establish false truths that turn undocumented immigrants into a “them.”

Good morning choir members, I pray all is well with each of you. As each of you know, Sister Kimberly Edwards decided it was best to step down as President of the Liberty Hill Choir. The church administrators set standards in which the next president must already achieve or have before he/she could become president of the choir. Some of those standards include:
In the music industry, Motown records had a profound influence on up and coming artists and those

Singer. Born April 25, 1917, in Newport News, Virginia. (Though many biographical sources give her birth date as 1918, her birth certificate and school records show her to have been born a year earlier.) One such group, The Jackson Five, became popular after their first hit single “I Want You Back” came out in the 70’s (Ingram, F. C. 1999). Many of the top musicians like Stevie Wonder, Temptations, Four Tops, Funk Brothers, and the Miracles all helped to create the “sound that changed America” (“Featured Artist” 2012). All these artist and many others worked very hard to get their songs produced, because Gordy had high standards and would only produce their songs if it met his standards (“Featured Artist” 2012). Gordy believed that great songs could be produced like cars in a factory (“ Motown sound” 2009). If you have one person work on a specific task, it will help create a better song in the end (“Motown sound”
Growing up I had a role model. He is the most inspirational person I have ever had the chance of meeting. He took care of me when I was sick or when my parents would have to work late into the night, and honestly I am proud to say that this inspirational person is my older brother, Trey Hampton. Not only has my brother been there for me through thick and thin he even managed to introduced me to one of my greatest passions.
“They Produced some of the first ‘crossover’ hits, songs that caught on with both black and white audiences. Soon Motown groups like The Supremes were getting classy booking to play for white audiences in venues like Copacabana” (The Story). Gordy’s insistence upon the upkeep of an artist’s style, manners, and diction was based on the style of White Americans. He knew that to sell music his artists had to appeal to a white audience. Motown records went to great lengths to get favorable press from white publications. The label was extremely active in promoting its artists and music through media by establishing a tight knit relationship with Detroit, which loved Motown and fed into its success greatly. The direct connection of Motown to a community allowed for fans to feel as though they were part of the Motown team. “Thanks to it’s popularity, African-American songs and faces entered the homes of every American in the country, regardless of race,” (The Sixties). Motown achieved crossover success by adding the expectations and style of white Americans to African-American artists and the black sound that America had been rejecting. The sound with the new, cleaned up look of the artists at Motown Records appealed to black and white audiences everywhere. The crossover of Motown opened many doors for African- Americans during this time period by initiating the acceptance of black role models in American society. The African-American base of Motown in addition to the style and sound that appealed to every race allowed for Motown records to play a key role in the Civil Rights Movement not only through the creation of African-American power figures but also through the records it produced to aid in the
Imagination overcomes reason at times of strange and unexplained circumstances allowing for fear to enter the mind and people to act irrationally, or instinctively. In House Taken Over, we are introduced to two siblings who seem to live in a large, empty house and go through every day with a dull repetitive routine. Notwithstanding, this changes when they find themselves faced with an ominous threat. The first time this happened the siblings react on instinct and panic. They seclude themselves in the unpenetrated part of their house, uneasy at the thought of what could be lurking on the other side. Thusly, after a second infiltration, this time to the main part of the house, they abandon the house running instinctively to escape while they are taking over.
Being a touring singing and performer can become a very rough and tiring job. Being on the road traveling for many months, playing different shows every night would make you really realize if singing is what you love to do. Ella was a singer for more than 60 years. 1. My redefinition of Hip hop feminism differs from the “normal” definition of feminism, to me hip hop feminism is a way of living and thinking. Hip hop feminism is connected to the Liberation Movement although this movement focused on advancing women rights than civil rights I still believe it played a part with the Hip Hop feminism movement which focused on the rights for young black women in the hip hop industry. I believe this because both movements give women a new definition of what it is like to be a women and both fight for the women cause although they may not hit the exact issues they promote change. Hip hop feminism should fight for the rights of women in hip hop who don’t receive respect due to their sexuality and gender. Women’s perspective in hip hop should be changed and embraced as a powerful persona rather than sexual perspectives. In order to make my definition of hip hop feminism happen in the industry major change must be presented. First, we must create respect towards hip hop women and shut down the suppression of female power. The way in which this would happen is to stop the secularization of women in this industry and not support the hypermasculan culture hip hop is. Although I understand that not all sexualization will be abolished completely from hip hop due to it being part of the culture . However I feel if women were to maybe not givein to the
The human population has been growing rapidly for centuries. What is happening and, most important, what will happen to all of us and our planet if this continues? One of the most important properties of living things is that their abundances change over time and space. This is as true for our own species as it is for all others, including those that directly or indirectly affect our lives. for example, when providing our food, or materials for our shelter, or causing diseases and other problems. It is safe to say that human populations, like that of the United States, grow at an exponential rate, which means that the annual growth rate is a constant percentage of the population. The danger that the human population poses to the environment
Over the years, African American Music has developed as not only as cultural but also artistic phenomenon affecting the world. The music takes its own stand of being dominant as well of having a prevailing means of expression through the use of the lyrics. The lyrics of many songs tend to use a specific type of language in order to create that connection between the listeners. This certain style of language helps the listeners to think on a deeper level about the real meaning behind the lyrics.
