Olivia Henry Mrs Belcher Period 5 November 15, 2017 Analyst of “Freak the Mighty” Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is the story of a special friendship between two boys. The movie version titled “the Mighty” stars Kieran Culkin(Kevin) & Elden Henson(Maxwell) & is a good visual repetition of their adventure. They meet differently and the ornithopter is used in a different way they also show Kevin’s journey to save Max. They deleted the part where Kevin calls Max earthing. They added where Max finds a picture of his dad with his mom and Iggy and Loretta. The first difference is when Kevin has the ornithopter and Max is behind the fence watching. The next day Max is playing basketball and Kevin is walking by when Kevin gets hit by a basketball
A film on how love knows no bounds, where love happens in unexpected ways, Merian C. Cooper & Ernest B. Schoedsack’s King Kong introduces the element of surprise within the plot that leaves many to feel flabbergasted at the unravelled events. A gorilla worshiped as a god by many, that goes by the name of Kong is inhabiting an unknown island where a film is set to be produced within the movie. Due to the crew’s admiration of the gorilla, they offer their star actress Ann Darrow as a sacrifice to appease the beast. However, Kong eventually falls in love with Ann, regardless of their biological differences. On the other hand, Ann already has a human companion by the name of Carl Denham who intends to rescue Ann from the gorilla’s grasp rather than to see her disappear forever with Kong. The idea that love between a beast and human seem rather trivial in the eyes of spectators who critique the movie; the plot provides a surprising element to illuminate the fact that the fondness between the individuals are portrayed different from within our usual view of what is normal. In comparison with the 2005 film adaption by director Peter Jackson, I’d say that the recent film deviated from the film to create an atmosphere where the audience are made to wait in suspense for each passing scene. Since film director Peter Jackson directed the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, many expected the movie to be an amazing spectacle. Renditions were made to fit society’s expectations today such as
Much of the decline of mainline Protestant denominations, such as the United Methodist Church, Presbyterian and Episcopal Churches, has been speculated to be largely due to widespread rejection of organized religion by young adults (Sides, 2016). While young adults are the most likely to claim religious non-affiliation, Americans of all ages have been trending downward since the late 90s and early 2000s (Wormald, 2015). As older more religious generations die, there are fewer younger generation members taking their places in Protestant congregations, leading to the declines being seen. Likewise, while Protestant denominations have been on the decline, nondenominational church memberships have risen since 2007. While Millennials coming

For my quarter project I have decided to watch a Spanish movie. The movie that I have chosen is called Rec, (short for record) filmed in 2007. The movie is a horror film about the zombie apocalypse, but instead of the apocalypse already happening it shows how it was discovered/started. The film takes place in Spain, and is like a fictional documentary. It is filmed with a hand held camera, but does have high quality. I like that my project was something that I love to do. Which is, watching scary movies!
The US sociologist Robert K. Merton (1910-2003) said that society structure have many functions such as manifest function that recognized and intended consequences of any social pattern, latent functions the opposites of manifest functions and lastly social dysfunction that any social pattern that may disrupt the operation of society. The book Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer was adapted to a movie, directed by Sean Penn in 2007. The movie was trying to follow the novel closely but some scenes were not able to be make an exact copy on the screen. The film was put into dramatic form in a place of contact between Chris McCandless and people around him. However, there’s a lot of information about his life between college and death is excluded from the movie version.
The Mighty overall was a very good film. It was cute, sad and funny, and the film had a good message. It was almost as good as the book, but the book had more detail than the movie. I enjoyed the the images in my head from reading the book become pictures. My first impression was that the movie wasn't going to be good at all, although it was better than I expected. Seeing Freak die in a movie almost made me cry, and when it happened in the book I really wasn’t sad at all. I really enjoyed the film overall.
Robin R. Means Coleman discusses black horror as its own genre by giving the initial statement, “that is, there are so many films featuring Blackness, with so many shared connections, that Black film has become a genre in itself” (4). Get Out (2017) is a black horror film that is directed by and stars a black man as the leading role, Jordan Peele, and Daniel Kaluuya, respectively. The psychologically terrifying film heavily focuses on the idea that white people have power over black people, which becomes a literal aspect since the white family hypnotizes and takes over black people’s minds.
In the movie, See What I’m Saying, there are three Deaf men and one Hard of Hearing women. Their names are: Robert DeMayo, TL Forsberg. Bob Hiltermann and C.J Jones. Through out the movie, each person shows us a glimpse of their lives and what they have to deal with on a daily basis. See What I’m Saying shines a light on the oppressive behaviors within the performing arts industry and within mainstream media, and how these four individuals must navigate through their lives as performing artist.
However, conventions of comedy film changed by the year 1963, when Stanley Kramer came out with It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. This film in particular is most definitely an epic comedy film chock-full of action and wild misadventures. The plot revolves around the pursuit of $350,000 in stolen cash by quite a diverse group of strangers who compete throughout the entire story to locate this stolen fortune. More specifically, near the beginning of the film, six passerby motorists initially put up a good united front against police officers, yet fail to fairly divide the potential loot due to their own greed.
I talk to another student in 418 class, is the essay only in Capital section? sometimes I'm still missing what people's said. If yes, I think I did incorrect section, and I'm not sure about the essay format that I've written. Is there still a time to revise my work? I'm sorry that time I think It should have submitted on Monday and student learning service is fully book, so I can't recheck my essay structure and grammar in there.
What does it mean to live consciously? To live consciously means to take every aspect of your life and try to look deeper into what is going on. In his book, Branden tries to take different aspects of life and try to explain to the reader how it is that we can live consciously. In the beginning, Branden starts off with the simple things to address and then moves his way up throughout the book to explain the more complicated things we deal with in our daily lives.
My first impression based off the title of the movie was, well this sounds like it will be a fun eventful movie, that will be simple for me to write an essay over. This concept could not have been closer, I enjoyed every second of this film. The way Micky Ward responded to adversity, every time the fight appeared to be out of his reach, he responded with an epic effort to win the match. I also enjoyed the viewing the process Dicky Eklund proceeded on to conquer his addiction to crack. Crack cocaine is the freebase form of cocaine. Crack's popularity, in part, was due to its appeal for drug users seeking an inexpensive, ultra-potent, fast acting high. I was impressed with the storyline in which case it ultimately forced Micky Ward to choose between his girlfriend Charlene Fleming, and his family. How he handled that adversity was astonishing he managed for them all to get along and help him win his title fight.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox, a stop motion animated film about a middle aged fox settling into family life, and his call back to the wild nature of his youth. Throughout this movie, there are messages of how to live with marriages as they grow difficult and how to deal with life changes, but one I noticed more than the others was a message of how to accept those around us. This message of accepting and appreciating those around us is showed in caring for family, friends, neighbors, and ones self.
The film is set in Paris in 1392, at the Hôtel Saint-Pol, the residence of King Charles VI who ruled France during the turmoil of the hundred years war, and was thought to be mad by many people of the court. The story, however follows Francis, a young servant employed at the palace who falls in love with Catherine, a lady in waiting to one of the daughters of the King. Following the theme of fin amours, popular in the troubadour tradition, she is way above his station, and according to the rules of their society, they can never be together. Love, however, doesn’t always play by the rules, and the two struggle to keep their forbidden love a secret in the midst of a court with a mad king, with many enemies who would do whatever it takes to take the throne.
