Throughout my life, my family and I have always undoubtedly been close. We spend time together and just generally like one another. There are no activities that come up as a tradition or practice, we regularly perform, but one little affair that is almost an unspoken tradition is the way I spend time and connect with my dad. Sitting down on a rainy day or just the odd night to watch a movie together has been a regular activity that my dad, my brother, my friends, and I do. Some may say that watching movies is just a few people sitting on a couch not interacting or connecting in anyway. But it just isn’t. Finding a movie starring an actor, directed by a director or in a genre we both like is an exciting process that is rewarded with 1.5 – 2.5 hours of suspense, excitement, and even laughter. Emotions shared connect the two of us and engender a desire to replicate the experience by finding more movies, together. There have even been whole Saturdays spent marathoning previous movies from a series, anticipating the release of a new sequel. Take the release of, The Dark Knight Rises, the third and final movie in the Batman trilogy. We had been planning for weeks in advance. The new Batman movie was coming out and I could hardly hold back my excitement. The Batman trilogy was always one of my dad’s and my favorite.
