Movie Review : ' The Intouchables '

The Outsiders movie which was released on March 25, 1983, is a American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola .It is a crime thriller and is adapted from a novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton .The Film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and set in 1965 .The story of this movie revolves around the conflict between the two different social groups ,which is the rich and the poor. It is a class versus class conflict which gives rise to a physical conflict between the Greasers and the Socs .I feel there are physical fights throughout the story between the two groups due to enculturation. The native culture that is transmitted from one generation to another among the Greasers is the reason for their limitations.

Ah, The Sandlot. A movie full of fifth and sixth grade boys playing baseball in the Summer. If you think it sounds boring, you're wrong. This is an excellent movie. It starts with a boy, named Scotty (Tom Guiry) who needs friends. He needed friends so bad that his mom was even concerned about him being cooped up in the house for a quarter of the summer. One day, he wanders to a baseball field and his want to have friends and be a part of something comes true. He even got a nickname, "Smalls". The boys did everything together, even got into and out of trouble together. But the number one important thing all nine of the boys did, was meet at the baseball field every single day.

The movie Forrest Gump played by Tom Hank is a story about Forest Gump a simple man and his journey through life. Gump was simple minded and lived his life by a set of values taught to him by his mother (Sally Field). While Forest sat down waiting for a bus, he tells his story. Forest takes part in several defining historical moments such as the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal and also had painful experiences. Despite his setbacks and naive nature, he struggles and triumphs in everything he did. Forrest developed a good self-esteem and self-concept with the help of his mother’s observation, love, and sincerity. With his mother and Jenny’s encouragements, he was able to overcome his physical handicap and become an outstanding runner among other things. This movie is an example of the how a child’s mind developed through series of stages. The Cripple of Inishmaan, a play that’ll leave one wondering how someone could be so rude and against those who have disabilities. The play takes place in the Island of Inishmaan, Ireland which is a rural community, where everyone knows everyone’s business. Inishmaan is a very small town, more tight knit versus an urban community which is more diverse. Furthermore, Bill who is a main character is known as, “Cripple Billy,” he has a limp on his one side, where when he starts to walk he drags that side. Billy lives with his two adoptive Aunts, Kate and Eileen Osbourne who are sisters, because he was alone once his parents died. Throughout the play, family, friends, and many civilians throughout the town are very rude to Billy due to his disability, he is teased and made fun of by others. However, Billy is a very strong individual that lets nothing affect him, he manages to take advantage of his disability. Although, The Cripple of Inishmaan, is taken place in a small town where everyone identifies each other with flaws, “Cripple Billy,” doesn’t allow negative comments drag him down, he learns how to cope with the mockery and bullying; he protects himself and uses his disability to advantage, like a shield.

My opinion on the movie I watched, “The Outsiders” is that it was okay. I found some parts boring. There were some parts that was trying to be as emotional as the book and they looked very fake. The director of the movie was Francis Ford Coppola. The author of the book was S.E. Hinton. The Year the movie was made was 1983. The movie was about two gangs. The Socs and the Greasers. Two Greasers (Johnny and Ponyboy). A group of Socs jump them and Johnny is forced to kill one to save his friend from drowning. Johnny and Ponyboy run from the law to a small town named Windrixville. They soon become heros.

The book and the film were both simular, and yet different in many ways. An example would be, in the film, Ponyboy was walking to the drive-in and meeting Cherri and Marcia. Although in the book, Ponyboy began his journey by telling the readers about his experience about being jumped by the Socs and being threatened. The director probably had some options to pick from to leave out from the movie, and the director chosed this to leave out. Leaving out the part where Ponyboy was jumped was an effective move because without the experience Ponyboy was lost and helpless because he did not know what to do when he and Johnny got cornered in the park by Bob and other Socs.

Two boys, Johnny and Ponyboy, are our valiant heroes. Not even over the age of 18, two boys rescued 5 young children, who were no older than 8-years old. While bystanders watched and worried, only 2 from the crowd had courage to go save the children. They gallantly sprinted in a run as soon they heard children screaming in a burning church. According to our sources, Ponyboy was supposed to be in a boys’ home because his parents died when he was little. Instead of sent to a boys’ home, he was allowed stayed with his older brothers and they are his guardians, and they all stay together as long as they don’t do anything transgressive. What does Outsider really mean? Excluded, harsh family, different, stand out, mistreated, an Outsider stands alone. Why? Because people in this world just don’t understand what it’s like to be an Outsider. Don’t! I repeat don’t excluded your peers who see things a different way. The way they see finest. Encourage them along with their feelings, thoughts, also their differences. Treat them the same way you treat others. It explains that many people are crudely teased, furthermore, they’re taught to feel hurt by their peers. Instead of not helping peers you should comfort Outsiders to continue doing what they’re doing. Outsiders should not be mistreated the way they are because one of a kind. You can extremely hurt your peers by telling them they’re different. When the Greasers were called “Greases” by their peers( Someone will come by and scream “Greaser!” at them, which doesn’t make you feel too hot ⁽⁴⁾) it didn’t feel so pleasing. So, if you are being mistreated along with considering you may be an Outsider remember these teens. Life is rough, not just for you for everyone. Greasers were all Outsiders in this book. Greasers were the gang of which everyone knew. Getting into fights quite often, plus long hair, this gang stuck out like a sore thumb. Greasers were kicked around, picked on, as well as they were jumped by the Socs. But that’s not to say they never did anything back. The story The Outsiders, written by S.E. Hinton, was a popular novel because of how realistic it was. The novel was successful because it included famous people and items from the 1960s. These items allowed for people to read the story and make connections. One of the topics that was referenced in the book was Perry Mason. Perry Mason was a popular television series that made readers understand how Ponyboy viewed the courtroom.

Johnny was the only person that Dally ever loved. The day Johnny was released from the hospital; Dally took the role of both of his parents. Every day they would eat all their meals together. They visited the park or went to movies. Dally made sure that Johnny was never alone, always in his protection. Johnny loved it. There was a smile on his face even though he was dying inside that he could not use his legs. Stuck in a wheelchair for life was not ideal for anybody, but for a rambunctious greaser?

Especially wonderful about the film is how the two men help each other come to grips with their personal problems. Driss needs to become more responsible with his life, while Philippe needs to overcome his hang-ups about pursing a romantic relationship. Each man is deficient in a certain respect, and each helps the other overcome or at least compensate for that deficiency.

The Outsiders message is about “Nothing Gold Can Stay.” It explains that nothing good can go on forever and nothing young can last forever. It tells you about how and why we should enjoy what we have and keep and cherish everything we have to its maximum limit. Why shouldn’t we cherish what we have? Why do we need more? Why can't we be equally treated with same amount of things such as money and houses? That is the real question. We have that to this very day. In The Outsiders, their lives are exactly like this. They have their awesome rich people lives and the poor have unhappy lives. Some of each gang just want to be normal, the same, or similar at least. But their money splits them up.
