Growing up in a small town, with the knowledge of a small town community can have an effect on you. Having the respect and dignity to know between right and wrong adds and interesting aspects into a life style. Growing up in a small community makes you realize what it is like to have small class rooms and having your teachers know you by a first name basis.Knowing everyone on each sport team because “everyone knows everyone in a small town”. I had the ability to be able to ride my bike down the street without a real question of my safety where I grew up in Worland Wyoming. I have different academic interests than others may, I enjoy different extracurricular activities than other students, and life experiences that are unlike anyone else that have shaped me into who I am today.
In retrospect, I believe that when you move somewhere, you have to be open-minded about the many differences that you’ll encounter cultural and systematically. Many people choose to migrate to another country to pursue a better life where one can make more money with higher standard of living. However in the town Ticuani, located in Mixteca, Mexico, many people choose to “transnational” between their native country and United State, New york. Where one will spend sometime in New york and some other times in Ticuani, and their life will be moving back and for the between country. Even though this sound like an easy plan, but immigrant who did this had to adapt life from both countries and faces difficulties and problems from two places.
What might motivate you to consider leaving familiar surroundings and move to another city or state or even another country, not knowing what might await you once you arrived there?
It was June of 2013 and I was in my room cooling, watching “Good Luck Charlie”. My mom came into my room saying that she was ready to move out of New York. Obviously I did not want to move out of the city I was born in. My mom never liked living in New York, so she always thought about moving. So the plan was to move in August. Time went by and I was thinking about what North Carolina would be like. I really wasn’t thinking about the friends I was leaving in Brooklyn, that never crossed my mind.
Last, People move to be close to family and to people they know.People want to live with good friends. For example, people move out of bad neighborhoods so they can keep their family safe. Also they live close to family so they can still share all the fun times with them and have a more enjoyable life. This one doesn't relate to the Joads at all because the joads were already all together but they all went so they could stay together.
Moving happens frequently, about fourteen percent of Americans move each year. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is about 46,778,674 American citizens, that’s each year alone. If it hasn’t happened consider yourself lucky. If you’ve never personally moved, chances are probably know someone who has. The struggles that come along with moving can start off calm and fine but the reality of what is being left behind sets in and just realizing that everything has changed. I’ve moved three times, each time to completely new locations, new places I’ve never seen, and new faces I hadn’t met. The first time I moved it was life-changing. I was moving from the suburbs of Coppell, Texas to Albany, Georgia.
