Mr. Giblin makes it very clear from his text, "The Riddle of The Rosetta Stone," that in his mind, the scholar Jean Francois Champollion, is the greatest contributor to solving the riddle of the Rosetta Stone. He does this by letting the reader know how significant the discovery of the stone was and by providing in depth information on the life of Champollion both before and after his work on the stone. Giblin provides vivid detail about stone and uses strong language to emphasize to his reader how significant the discovery of the stone was. His viewpoint is made clear by his description of the stone as, "the famed Rosetta Stone." His adoration of the stone is made clear when he says that the table top sized slab is "more valuable than the other, larger things in the room.: He also tells the reader how important the writing and symbols on the stone are by saying they, "gave 19th century scholars their first key to the secrets of ancient Egypt." In his view, of all the languages written on the stone, the most important writing was the Egyptian writing. Giblin notes "Champollion's contributions to the world's knowledge of ancient Egypt did not end with is death." The books Champollion was working on at the time of his death were later published. The deciphering techniques in those books were used by other scholars to trace the entire history of Egypt. He notes, "Champollion helped to provide the world with that knowledge which scholars today are still adding to." This language establishes just how important the contributions of Champollion were in solving the riddle of the Rosetta
