In my 12 years of being in school, I have had a lot of different experiences with many different teachers. Some good and some, unfortunately, bad. I have had many favorites and some teachers that I couldn't wait until I dint have their class again. One teacher that I am so Grateful to have had is my 7th grade geography teacher Mrs. Gribble. Mrs. Gribble inspired me to always go after what I wanted, do my best at all times, and live my life according to me.
Mrs. Gribble inspired me to go after what I wanted when I told her about how I was going to try out for the Volleyball team. I had never played a sport before and I was a little scared to try out for the team. At our school there was already set teams and new people rarely made the team.
There is a quote that I have embraced during my professional journey I like that state, “The influence of a good teacher can never be erased”. As a product of the Muscogee County School district, my life mirrors that statement. If it were not for my awesome teachers I would not be the person and teacher I am today. Growing up poor, I lived in Wilson Apartments and attended Fox Elementary School. It was my kindergarten teacher Mrs. Vignery that ignited my passion to become a teacher. She would always hold my hand and made me feel loved despite my many issues. As a result, I wanted to pass this love to my students. I cannot remember not one single thing that she taught me, but I will never forget how she made me feel. I find myself holding
During my life I have had several teachers with who I hold in high regard. Mr. Anthony Arico, Mr. Marty Berger, and Mrs. Edna Thomas to name a few. Even though all of the above named teachers had a very profound effect on my life; my all-time favorite teacher would be SSG Daniel Spencer retired. He was my ROTC instructor for approximately two years and has been a mentor throughout my adult life.
A high school teacher that has impacted my life is my 9th grade Geometry teacher, Mrs. Scully. Mrs. Scully has impacted my life from the very beginning. She has always been very caring and fun to be around. She is probably one of the most unique people in my life. She has always wanted me to do my best, and worked hard for me to understand the course. I was very troubled in mathematics, but the first time I received an 80 on a test in her class was the happiest moment for me. She is dedicated and she cares about you. She wants you to do good. I only had her for that year, but I still continue to see her. Sophomore and Junior year I would also use my tutoring time to be with her. I am now a senior class officer and she is our leader. She puts together senior activities and the officers help her. She influences me to be the very best person I can be. I see how she has these stylish cars and is overall happy with her life and committed to what she does. It’s inspiring and I can only wish to become as happy and successful as she is. She is a wonderful
In 6th grade Mr. Strupp was always kind and a bit sarcastic, but in a friendly way. Mr. Fosse was funny and taught me math and science. Laura taught me how to play and do certain sports. In 7th grade Mr. Leister teaches me history, and I get to hear his interesting stories all the time. Ms. Duncan lays the hammer down, and strictly grades, which always encourages me to do my best. Ryan teaches me science (with a little help from Tim and Moby). Lastly Mimi, is a fun, but clumsy math teacher. All of them have been superb, and helped me through my two long years of Middle School.
For example, when I was a freshmen in Clear Lake High School. My favorite subject is math because I’m good at it and also math is interesting for me. My Algebra 1 teacher was Ms. Brodus. Her class rules was so strict. She always told students to put their cellphones away but, she was so enjoyable, delighted and pleasant talk to. Also, she always gave her plenty of time to every students. She was so organized about her every assignment. Whenever a student has trouble in any problem she helps them. She always teach each problems step by step so, the students can better understand. She always shows students two ways how
My second grade teacher Mrs. Balzer was one of my favorite teachers through elementary school. Everyday after school while I was in her class waiting on the bus she would say "Dillon would you like a cheese stick?" Though cheese sticks was not my favorite snack and I didn't want to sound rude so i would say "yes ma'am." Learning was starting to change through grades there were more books, more homework and more classes. Another favorite teacher of mine was Mr. Britton. He was always there helping me struggling on an assignment, and always asked me to go run papers to them office for him or go make
Everyone has had that one teacher who inspired them, and who made coming to school every day worthwhile. My teacher was my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Eardly. She went above and beyond to be a good teacher to me, went out of her way to make sure I was taken care of, and inspired me to be a better person.
I had wonderful teachers, always so helpful and there for me whenever I had a question. I felt that I could ask them anything and that means the world to me as a student. It is important to me to feel comfortable with a teacher to succeed. Their knowledge on things that didn’t come from our books was very helpful as well, I loved to hear all their real world experiences. They truly are incredible people and I hope they continue on teaching for many years because they are a big factor on why I am so passionate about my
For middle school, I had one great teacher that I really enjoyed. It was during my last year in middle school and I had Mr. Weisend. I met him at food lion one day sophomore year and I was so happy to see him. I’d just like to say thank you too him for always making class interesting and always giving us free time at the end of class. He also let me be a teacher assistant and that was fun because after cleaning I got to play games. He even impacted my life through social media by encouraging me.
There are several teachers who have inspired me since I started school many years ago. If i had to decide on the one teacher who has made the greatest impact on my life, it would be Coach Mike Hammons. Coach Hammons teaches middle school World History at Flintville Elementary School. Coach Hammons has inspired me in many ways. When I’m in his classroom, he makes learning fun for me. He loves to be around us students. Finally he’s funny. Coach Hammons is probably an inspiration to not only me, but every student he teaches.
Lacy and Mrs. Moynihan. They are both at the top of my list for favorite teachers. One would teach on Monday, then the other on Tuesday, etc. but on Wednesday, one would teach in the morning then the other would come in after lunch and teach us. The year was definitely interesting. 4th grade was also the year I met my best friend, Lauren, I will always remember the first time she talked to me, and it wasn’t nice but it wasn’t necessarily mean either.
Perception does not change either. Octavia perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector. This is evident first, explicitly: “Mrs. Grier is one classy lady. She is tall and big, not fat, but big like she deserves the biggest room or the best plate of food…. But more than just being classy, Mrs. Grier is right…. But I say she is right because she can know the truth from a lie just as soon as she hear it” (164). Octavia perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector because of her classiness, which indicates integrity, her stature, and her discernibility of fact from fiction. In a community rife with pandemonium, missing children, and dead children, the ability to discern what is true and what is false is vital. Octavia is cognizant of this, which explains why she frequents Mrs. Grier’s classroom, even though she is a former student. This action, implicitly shows why she perceives Mrs. Grier as a protector. First, Octavia visits her after her friend, Rodney, goes missing. Then, Octavia consults with her after learning that her mother wants her to leave Atlanta. When Octavia feels the most helpless, she runs to Mrs. Grier—the woman who can help her the most. Perhaps, the role and perception of black female leaders do not change from the private to the public sphere because of fictive kinship. Unlike black male leadership, which depends on blood ties, black female leadership depends on the function more than the fact. Moreover, Mrs. Grier’s behavior, which is consistent with that of a matriarch, is just as impactful and rewarding to Octavia, even though she is not the female leader of her household. In fact, black women are commonly absorbed into other households: “There was a black lady on Channel Two whom Mama liked to call by her first name and critique on her appearance like she was somebody they actually knew” (24). Accordingly, the conflation of black women and motherhood, within the black community, creates an inelasticity among the roles and perceptions they hold in any sphere, domestic or public.
Throughout school I never valued my teachers in the ways I should have. I never tried to connect or bond with anyone, it was just school. Some teachers will go above and beyond to influence their students, and they are the ones who have a true passion for their career. As a kid I hated school, but what kid didn’t? We went because we had to and we longed for going home. Out of all the teachers I’ve had as a young kid, one teacher I will never forget was my 2nd grade teacher, Ms. Nix.
The best teacher I ever had was a high school history teacher name Donald Langford. Mr. Langford was always there for his students. Most days during his preparation period, students could be found with him either getting help in school, or advice on some issue they were having. He was a “no nonsense” kind of teacher who could always go right to the problem with an accurate solution. His classes were engaging and it never seemed like we were being forced to learn. He was able to make understanding of the subject easy. He classes were comfortable, upbeat, and always
Choosing a favorite teacher is fairly difficult when one puts into account all the types of teachers they have known, all of them are important. Teachers are the second most important people in our lives, right after our parents. Teachers are persuasive and have the power to build a child up from an immature student to become a responsible adult; or they can completely and utterly crush a students hopes and dreams.
