The main objective of this investigation is to see if funds are being misappropriated and who is misappropriating these funds. In conducting this investigation we needed to take many steps to ensure that the tip that the department received was true. To begin we checked personnel records and company records to gather information (Albrecht, Albrecht, and Zimbelman, 216) on the suspect, Rita Crundwell. Information such as how long has this suspect has worked in the city, what her position is, and what it entails. We also went through the accounts that she is transferring the cities money into and verified that all of these are all legitimate accounts of the city. If we found any errors or accounts that were not legitimate we would note these down and ask Rita about these accounts during the interview.
In the scenario given, “Bob” served in many positions within a nonprofit over a three year period of time and he stole $93,000 in a variety of ways. In a small nonprofit this might be a large percentage of their operating expenses. It could have an enormous impact on the nonprofit staying in operation as well as those who are served in the community. First we should address what the organization could have done to detect the theft earlier and areas the organization can prevent fraud. Next we will look at implementing safeguards and checks and balances to prevent future occurrences. And Finally, we will address a public relations campaign that will regain the trust of donors and the community.

Although unsure as to if he is the right person for it, Mr. Washington agreed and a letter was sent back to them saying that he would be sent. A telegram was received several days later stating, “Booker T. Washington will suit us. Send him at once.” When he arrived at Tuskegee he realized that the people here were earnest and hungry for knowledge. Finding that there was not a building to begin the school in, Mr. Washington walked around the town before deciding on an unkempt shack near the church. The first class began with 30 student. At the end of the first six weeks of schooling, a new face showed up as co-teacher, Miss Olivia A. Davidson who was later to become Mr. Washington’s wife. Finding it wise to teach the students agriculture as well as learning from books Mr. Washington and Miss Davidson began looking for a different area for the school. Three months past the opening of the school an old plantation became available on the market. The mansion house had been burned down. After careful examination Mr. Washington thought it fit for what they had wanted. The price, although a meager price of $500, seemed impossible to get as they had no money and were strangers to the town. Through great courage Mr. Washington asked his friend, the treasurer of Hampton Institute for
At a public high school assembly of roughly 600 high school students, Matthew Fraser made a speech nominating a fellow student for elective office. Fraser had discussed the subject matter of his speech before the assembly to two teachers. Fraser’s teachers had informed Fraser that the speech should not be delivered because the speech was inappropriate and that it could lead to severe consequences. In his speech, Fraser used what some students believed was a graphic sexual image to promote the candidacy of Fraser’s friend. Bethel High School had a disciplinary code that enforced a rule prohibiting conduct that substantially interfered with the educational process

Because adolescents are growing up with more access to social networking, texting and instant messaging on various sites have become prime means of communication. While this is not necessarily bad, many people feel the need to over-share things about their personal lives online. More and more people are using Facbeook and more and more employers are using Facebook to scope out potential employees. If there are inappropriate pictures and comments all over someone’s Facebook page, they are more likely to not receive the job. Some students get in trouble for things they post on Facebook and Twitter. Some users are beginning to notice this and have started deactivating their accounts to regain a sense of privacy. CNN’s article “The anti-social network: Life without Facebook”, states that some students who are trying to maintain a professional image for future employment are deleting their pages.

Jane was a summer camp counselor at Girls Incorporated over the summer of 2015. Throughout the nine-week program, Jane worked with the oldest group of girls, consisting of ten to fifteen year olds. As the summer progressed, Jane became extremely close to her campers, often going above and beyond the call of duty to make their summer enjoyable. Once the summer comes to completion, some of the girls decided to add Jane as a friend of Facebook. Jane accepted their friend requests, fully aware that it was against Girls Inc. policy for current and former staff to be friends with campers on any social media platform. The following summer, Jane asks her former employer for her job back for the 2016 session. Jane’s boss decided not to hire her again due to her breach in contract.
