"I have to admit," Mrs. McCarthy said. "I'm a little freaked out now. But my pregnancy wasn't planed either. In fact, I was only 16 when I was pregnant. My parents ended up disowning me. It was my husband's parents who helped us. Of course, he was my boyfriend when. I'm going to help you two with your baby." "Do you mean that?" Allison asked. "Of course." "Thank you. That means so much to the both of us." "You're welcome. We should all get some rest." Meanwhile, Melody and Sarah laid down in their cots. "I'm feeling horny" Sarah said. "How can you feel horny at a time like this?" Melody asked. "I don't know. Although it has been a while. " "Maybe we can find a place more private once everybody's asleep." "Okay."
Mary has had so many bad things happen in her early life, yet she tells her stories of loss and abuse so casually.

“My friend, you’re not only going to be a husband but you’re also going to be a father.” Blood rushes through my face. “And a great one at that.”
During the 1950’s the red scare was a serious concern amongst American citizens, and Senator Joseph McCarthy took full advantage of the situation. “Capitalizing on the concerns of communism, Joseph McCarthy accused that nearly 200 communists had infiltrated congress” (Miller). The antics of McCarthy can help the reader better understand Arthur Miller’s The Crucible in multiple ways. Many different aspects of McCarthyism are related to the play, which gives the reader a clear idea of the corruption and chaos in Salem in 1692. Through the modern day accusations known as McCarthyism, The Crucible becomes easily understood for the reader due to the many similar repercussions that resulted in paranoia from the population as well as wrongful punishments.
As part of the greater push at that grade level to introduce kids to a greater depth of books, Mrs. Oak created a game that would award points based on the number and length of books that you read, with a prize being given to the winner at the end of every month (usually candy). Now being the clever nine year old brat that I was, I decided to game the system by quickly flipping through a great number of small children’s books every day. While this did put me ahead on points, I was completely avoiding the entire point of the game. So to Mrs. Oak’s great credit, she decided to limit the number of books I could check out of the school’s library to three per week. With my lead in the literary scoreboard slipping away, I checked out a book that
“I’m fine,” I panted. I didn’t tell my mother I was marching in place, a tactic to disperse stress hormones. “And thank you for the helpful information, but I’m already pregnant. Listen, Mom, I’m kind of stressing out about this appointment with administration. I’m supposed to report to the Death Star in half an hour, so I—”
McCarthyism and the Red scare were both huge nation wide crisis that had everyone fearing for their future. The spread of communism already had people biting their nails but McCarthy just made things even more tense. McCarthy could ruin a person's life from just one accusation and this gave him a lot of unnecessary power. The dramatic growth of communism in a few years, the increase in political figures being communist, and president nixon having the same view as McCarthy are all reasons why the red scare made McCarthyism happen.
“Just so you know” she sobs. “My family isn’t so perfect either. Yes. My parents have remained married. Sure, on the outside we look good. But a couple of years ago I found out that my mother had an affair. My mother cheated and…” She shoves a finger at her chest. “I am a product of that affair.”
“Honey, it’s just a baby, we women have been doing this for thousands of years. You really don’t need to worry.”
She stepped up and called you out on your bullsh*t and you didn't like it one bit. Did you ??
"I just want one more so I just got to pain through it one more time," she said. "I'm purely hoping it is a boy so I can have the most magically wonderful pregnancy."
Everyone defines high school as the base of your career, were magnificent teachers providing knowledge to help you exceed in life. But tell me how are we supposed to exceed while having teachers who does not provide enough information for my understanding? My senior year of high school I was placed in a math class with an instructor who goes under the name if Mrs. Power, but rather known as Mrs. Pointless. "Ok class everyone quiet!” are the exact words Mrs. Powers would say before starting class. She made class dull and pointless. By far she is the worst teacher I have had. She had little knowledge of what she was teaching in class, had out dated policies and lastly was extremely rude.
“I always think that if we’d adopted sooner, I’d have had our kid to focus on. I wouldn’t have gone down the rabbit hole of drinking and depression. If only…” Tristan had taken a sip of iced tea. “Let’s not go there. Let’s talk about you. Your college days, your buddies.”
Cormac McCarthy, known to be a great novelist and playwright was born in Providence, Rhode Island on July 20, 1933 (“McCarthy, Cormac 1933-”). He was the third child, and eldest son of six children born to Charles Joseph and Gladys Christina McGrail McCarthy (Cormac McCarthy). He was widely viewed as a “presiding genius” of American literature and was said to carry an “electric charge like no other” (Hage, Erik 5). McCarthy is often described as a “kindly older man” who “gave no hints” to his “imagination” that had created classic works like those of Hemingway and Faulkner (Hage, Erik 3). He avoided public appearances, and remained “absorbed in his writing” not in the “construction of his writing persona,” therefore, making him a very humble man (Hage, Erik 5).
