The novel’s background sets in the rural Mississippi at the end of World War II and the story is talking about two families: the white McAllan family and the black Jackson family. In the year of 2001 there were many events happening locally, nationally, and internationally. On January 2, 2001 there was a man in the Toledo area found dead in his house around 2am. The victim’s mother said there had even company over earlier before the incident happened, but this source doesn't say how it happened or who did it (“ToledoBlade.com”). The international event in 2001 as everyone knows is 9/11. Islamic fundamentalist terrorists hijack four U.S airliners and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York City. The attack of two planes levels the World Trade Center and the crash of one plane inflicts serious damage to the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, causing nearly 3,000 deaths. The fourth plane is heroically crashed
I was born on September 11of 2004 in Finley Hospital in the morning. I did not cry much and that is a good thing when I was hungry for food I would eat things like those mash potatoes, pudding cups, pancakes, waffles and sometimes I still eat them. I liked to play a lot so when I was little I loved to throw any type of ball like a tennis ball. Then I would break many things.
Shortly into the new millennium there was a terrorist attack in the United States. The attack on September 11, 2001 was a truly life changing moment for many Americans. Two planes crashed into the twin towers in New York, one plane crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, DC, a fourth plane was headed towards DC but was crashed by passengers on board in Pennsylvania. Due to these terrorist attacks, security measures around the world were increases tremendously. In 2011, US forces had a mission in Pakistan killing Osama bin Laden. President Obama’s hope was for American troops to withdraw from Afghanistan by 2014.
In the short story “Greasy Lake” the narrator, our protagonist, describes himself as a 19-year-old rebel, but as the story progresses, we learn how it is all a façade to try to be like the rest of the kids his age. What started off as a joke to who he thought was his friend Tony Lovett, turned out to be a life lesson that would crash down his false image of a bad boy. A series of events trigger his common sense and make him see that his way of living will bring him severe consequences or even death itself. The narrator changes his opinion on who he wants to be by the end of the story, therefore making him a round character.
I was born on February 1, 1932. Eleven months before Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany and fourteen months before the first Nazi concentration camp opened up. On my ninth birthday the German authorities started to round up all Polish Jews and send them to either the Warsaw Ghetto or concentration camps. The full effects of the Holocaust and World War II didn’t start to affect me until I was in the first grade.
The year I was born was march 19, 2001 this my name was Cameron price. This was a very significant year for the United States because of the terrorist attacks this brought people closer. In that happened in Florida where I was born was hurricane Gabrielle. This was a very tragic hurricane that happened in Florida and newfoundland. Hurricane Gabrielle was a North Atlantic hurricane that caused flooding in both Florida and Newfoundland in September 2001. They had 80 mile per hour winds lowest pressure was 975. The thing that was happening nationally In 2001. The September 11 attacks were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
In the short story “Mud,” by Geoffrey Forsyth, a first person narrator is used to guide the reader in identifying with the daily internal struggles that the main character faces while attempting to cope with the grief, “mud,” of losing his family. When the narrator first notices his dead relatives alive and well, yet covered in “mud,” he acts as though this is an entirely normal occurrence. Forsyth introduces the characters in order of their deaths starting with the grandma. The narrator's grief, the “mud” his relatives are covered in, seems as though it is not weighing down on him as heavily as one would think, saying that, “Today is not a good day… People are counting on me.” Secondly, the narrator’s father appears. Upon seeing his father,
Cold harsh winds in the air on the day of that 11th day in April 2002 in Roslyn, New York. Besides the awful weather, I was born that day. My life contains of my wonderful family with all my brothers, parents, and even my dogs. I also like to do my hobbies which consist of golf, fishing, and the racetrack. The 3rd thing that is very close to me is my New York football Giants. My exceptional family, my hobbies, and the New York Giants all explain my life.
I was turning three years old when everyone’s lives changed. I can’t imagine a day where one event causes an entire country fall silent and pay attention. The knowledge I have gained of the acts on September eleventh have been in history classes, “where I was when it happened” stories, and documentaries I have watched. I will never know the exact fear that was felt that day but I can understand the current events that have happened and are happening today.
September 11, 2001, the start of terrorism in The United States, and the end of innocence in our lives. Some of us are lucky to never know the fright of that horrid day. For others though, the events that transpired on September 11 will live on forever in their memory.
Many people define their lives by the relationships within their family. They are someone’s daughter, someone’s wife, or someone’s mother or father. The loss of a family member, especially due to death, creates a radical readjustment to people’s day to day lives and how they see and feel about themselves. Sometimes the process of grief can last over several years and how it is mentally processed and dealt with is different for everyone. “Mud” by Geoffrey Forsyth, shows an insightful view of a grieving man who had already lost his father and grandmother and is now just coming to terms with the loss of his wife two years prior. The entire story is written in first person point of view which allows for the reader to fully engage themselves in the grief and strife of the narrator’s life. Geoffrey’s story “Mud” begins in the home of the narrator where he encounters these dead family members and has to decide if he is ready to move on from his grief and say goodbye or stay behind and be consumed by it.
On September 11, 2001, my life was interrupted when I heard the news of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade
I thought my birth year was special all because of my birthday? After all these years I’ve never realized other important events that had happened on my birth year. There are so many interesting events that had happened on my birthday. It was very hard to choose from many interesting subjects such as sports, movies, and actors/actress. My decision that I chose was to do a combination and pick 3 of the most interesting subjects that happened during the year of 1994. At first I wanted to do events on my exact birthday September 23, 1994, but they did not have very interesting events so I had the choice of doing events on the year of 1994.
August 2011, the most special and most meaningful year of my life started off. I got to know students from different countries during the year in the United States. Besides broadening my horizon, I also tried to show and explain to my new friends how beautiful and wonderful our culture is. I believe I have become a person who is more independent and mature. I can now face my own flaws and make amends of my mistakes. Besides facing my own flaws, I am willing to face all kinds of challenges in my life.
