Introduction There have been multiple definitions for Multicultural definition which has become so imperative. Multicultural education alludes to any form of education or teaching that incorporates the histories, texts, values, beliefs, and perspectives of people from different cultural backgrounds (Bank).America is considered to be a “melting pot” because of the many people who have immigrated in search of a better life. Immigrants have brought with them their own unique cultures. Different genders, poverty and students at risk are some examples. When working with the public especially children within a school system, it is imperative to become somewhat knowledgeable of different cultural beliefs and practices in order to help these children adjust to the traditional classroom. There are people who advocate multiculturalism and oppose Multiculturalism in Education. As demographic changes in the United States have significantly increased the cultural diversity of student populations in public schools multicultural policies and practices have become important and also have debates against it . Multicultural Education was reformed shortly after the civil rights movement of the 1960’s and 1970’s .Many traces back to the discrimination of African American and other people of color.
