01/20/2015 Lecture Notes Do I have trouble solving multiple choices questions in the exam? What’s the problem? Yes. Most of the time when I see multiple-choice questions, I could narrow down the answer to 2 choices. But between the 2 choices, I can never be sure about which one is the correct one. So I guessed based on my instinct. I lost a lot of points in my formal exams due to this reason. How to solve my problem regarding multiple choices questions in nursing program? When choose between 2 choices, I should always consider that which is best answer to keep patients breathing (any interventions that can clear the airway), keep patients safe (fall precaution, avoid meds error, hand washing, educate patients about side effects), and maintain respect (patients’ privacy). …show more content…

First, separate essential information and nonessential information. Then identify 4 critical elements to correctly answer questions (very crucial for interpreting questions correctly). What are the 4 critical elements that I need to identify when I see a question? • What is the issue? –Specific subject that the question addresses. • What are the keywords? –Help you focus on crucial ideas in the stem and options. • Who is the client in the question? –The focus of the question. • What is the stem? –The part of the question that asks you to solve the problem and select a response. What do I learn from the in class multiple choices question practice? First of all, knowledge is the base. I have to know the knowledge first in order to answer the question. Then, when I see the question, I should always interpret the question by identifying the 4 critical elements. Then based on the 4 critical elements look at each answer and choose the best one.
