Introduction: The book I decided to read is the book Gimp “Murderball” by Mark Zupan and Tim Swanson. This book is ultimately about a guy named Mark Zupan, telling his story of how one night of questionable choices changed his life. The main theme throughout this book is determination, and resilience to accepting the life-altering situation that cost him his legs. Resilience and determination is shown by the obstacles and challenges Mark had to overcome and still embrace life with a positive mindset, attempting to find the best solution. In addition, having these more motivational and positive thoughts really helped Mark overcome accepting his new lifestyle, and found a sport he enjoyed as much as soccer, which was quad rugby (wheelchair rugby), …show more content…
Following a description of the scene as Marks became aware, he describes his thoughts as “confusing and cloudy”, seeing his legs twisted in odd ways, feeling frightened and nauseous, but no pain was felt. I really liked the severity and intensity of this next statement by him, “No feeling at all, except for fear.” He goes on to explain how he is never actually attended to after the accident, and is stuck in the ditch observing the scene as an undercover officer arrives at the scene of the accident, and makes sure Igoe is okay, before having to explain how hed been following him and has called backup for a possible DUI. Shortly after Igoe accepts his fate in jail, Mark realises he needs to begin calling for help, or he’s going to die as a result. Finally, after hours in the water, he was heard and medically attended to, but needed immediate surgery for the spinal cord injury he had suffered. Furthermore, Mark experienced many instances of anger and frustration this brought to him, especially not being able to play the sport you love ever again the way you used

"After you ran ahead, I knew I wasn't going to catch up to you. I came back to the boat and started paddling, but then, I hit a big current, and it tipped the boat over, making me fall over. Then, in the water there must've been a rock or a branch because my foot hit something hard. The pain shocked my body and now, my ankle hurts very bad," he sobbed. I felt so guilty inside.
The Serial Killers: A Study in the Psychology of Violence By: Colin Wilson and Donald Seaman What makes people kill other people? It is a question that has haunted humans for centuries. Authors Colin Wilson and Donald Seaman analyze this in their book The Serial Killers:
My love of sports led me to playing soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball. I was on the JV Softball and Basketball teams for two years, and the Varsity Tennis Team for three years. During basketball, my sophomore year, I learned I had a splayed pelvis with a bone missing that supported my back. It was very painful. My spine surgeon encouraged me to quit sports, telling me physical therapy would be difficult, and at best, would only allow me to continue with one sport. I went to physical therapy; it was extremely difficult, but made my back strong enough to play tennis. My senior year I was the Varsity Team Captain and placed fifth on the singles
The article I see a killer die by Alan hall was exceedingly provocative (ergo the compelling need to respond to it) but also cryptic. Personally, the content of the article made me feel a variety of emotions: the most prominent being vast irritation alongside resentment. Astounded with some segments of the article, I took the liberty upon myself to thoroughly analyse all segments of this article and came to a very clear conclusion: capital punishment is a cruel, inhumane and degrading way to leave the Earth.
In the aftermath of his accident, Mark is left to sort through reality versus what he believes to be the truth. In his eyes, parts of his world had been changed for good, replaced by something or someone foreign. This reversal of trust in his own mind or in his own world, causes him to often lash out in anger at Karin and others closest to him. “Some days his rage was so bad that even lying still infuriated him. Then the therapists asked her to leave.
Personal Essay for the Cornerstone Scholarship Program Hard work and dedication has been a reoccurring theme throughout my life. From an early age, my father has instilled these traits into I, and my brothers lives. The biggest example of this was the devotion to sports from an early age. My father was a firm believer that the lessons taught in these activities translated into positive traits later on in life, and I completely agree. As I’ve learned how much hard work, dedication, and resilience is needed in success in sports, so is true in the game of life.

It was the Summer of 2015, when I was 12. My family and I went to Chicago, Illinois for a couple weeks. We went to a lot of places, such as the Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and Shedd Aquarium. Then, the day before we were going to leave, we went on a tour of the Hotel built by the serial Killer H.H. Holmes aptly nicknamed “The Murder Castle”. I didn’t know much about Holmes, except that he killed a suspected 200 people. We arrived at the hotel after just having lunch. My hands were a little sweaty and shaky. Though I wasn’t that scared since I didn’t know too much about Holmes. We didn’t get to see the original Hotel since it burned down in 1895 and is now the Englewood Post Office, but there was a little museum next to it that we went to.

Psychology impact of sport injuries is a topic no one hears much about until an athlete is injured and goes through it himself/herself. High school athletes as well as professional ones both are exposed to injuries at any time, the impact of this injury might be the same. Getting injured is devastating for most athletes, what they don’t hear much is how bad it can get to them mentally. Depending on the injury, some athletes are able to return to the sport, others are not so lucky. When they are affected emotionally or mentally, it does not only affect them, but their team, the fans, and even the coaches. In most cases, these injuries and the rehabilitation process are often followed by psychological consequences which can impact the athletes’ well-being, as well as their chances of returning to their sport. The importance of sport psychology will be discussed throughout the paper to give a better understanding on how it affects athletes when dealing with a sport injury. Being aware of the psychological symptoms, as well as knowing how to avoid the effects could make a difference on someone. As well as knowing how important rehabilitation is when wanting to return to the game as soon as possible, if probable.
