Sports and music have both been around for hundreds of years. Sports are physical actives. Music is something you listen to. People think there are many differences, but there are more similarities between music and sports, but they are a lot more like in practice, performance, and career.
When it comes practicing both musicians and athletes need hours of practice almost every day to become better. Warming up is part of practice. Athletes warm up so they will not damage their muscles. Musicians need to warm up like a singer sings a scale to have an open sound so they do not damage their vocal cords. During practice, teams can run the same drill several times same as the band would play one piece many times to perfect it. Sports condition athlete’s body and mind so the athletes will not give up during the game. Musicians in a band are a condition to play to the whole concert and play the cues right. Athletes have teams and musicians have bands both need to have work well together to have a great performance. Practicing helps the person learn get the coordination down to catch a ball or play a chord right.

Music does not have wins and loses both are determined if you play well. Just like a football team has a quarterback to lead the team to make the best plays, Bands have a lead singer to make the best song choices. Each player in a band or sports team is important whether its drummer to keep tempo or a wide receiver catching a football. Fans are crazy for both sports and music from painting their body to crowd surfing. Teams and bands try to pump the crowds up to make more excitement. Concerts and games both have ups, downs, and a
Having to learn all of this takes hard work, time, and a lot of money. This is why band should be considered a sport. The definition of sport is “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical activity and often of a competitive nature.” Marching band includes all of the above.
The definition of a sport is “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature.” According to that description, marching band should technically be considered a sport (Bielewicz). When a person thinks of sports, marching band is not the first
“Remember the first time you went to a show and saw your favorite band. You wore their shirt, and sang every word. You didn't know anything about scene politics, haircuts, or what was cool. All you knew was that this music made you feel different from anyone you shared a locker with. Someone finally understood you. This is what music is about.” -Gerard Way. Music has been a part of our daily lives forever. It shows who we are as individuals but also unites us. Our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, is a song that connects every single person living in the United States of America. There are so many genres to pick from which allows everyone to be different. Music sort of goes along with Romanticism and the non-conformity part of
Art is in its purest sense, humanity collectively trying to impress, relate, and grow with one another and themselves. Music is the art form that embodies all the greater characteristics from other art forms, and puts them into one. In the words of Frank Zappa “Art is how we decorate space, Music is how we decorate time.” Music carries the ability to paint pictures, tell stories, and even showcase the time period they came from.
Music is very important to people and culture because it gives people a way to express themselves in different ways. Without music the world would be very different. Everyone would be the same, music helps to diversify
Play sports to stay healthy. Even though people believe there are other ways to stay healthy, playing sports is the easiest way to keep healthy. Average test scores of non athletes were not as high as athletes, so playing sports is helpful. Play sports to keep grades up, be intelligent and stay healthy.
Music is an extremely important part of human life and has been part of human life for thousands of years. Music can be linked with many different art forms such as art and language; these too are distinct expressions of humans. This particular expression has survived and outlived ancient languages and could possibly be older than any form of language we know. It also serves the same purpose as language, to convey meaning. Music is a way of bringing people together, and is used as a social ritual. In human life music is part of culture and it is also important historically. Music also contributes to the economy, as it is a means of making money as well as part of human leisure.
For years, scholars have been discussing the idea of removing after school sports for a variety of reasons. Various studies show that students in the United States who play after school sports lack in educational related success. Therefore, schools should shut down all sports programs to save money for academic purposes, allow athletes to focus on school, and help to eliminate sleeping issues that interfere with student’s learning.
MacNamara, Holmes and Collins (2006) state that there are numerous similarities between performances in music and sport. Expert musicians and sports performers are more able to adapt to setbacks than lesser skilled performers, as well as experts having higher levels of dedication and motivation and can communicate more emotion through the pieces being played. Similarly to Chaffin et al. (2003) this communication of emotion may be related to the artistic image with both requiring focus and decision-making.
What if children wanted to be in an activity that they were at constant risk of serious injury, distracts them from their school work, and deprives a school of their much needed funding. This activity is high school sports. Every year, tens of thousands of dollars are put into America’s obsession of high school athletics teams. Kids need to be doing other activities besides school sports because they are costly, have a high risk of injury, and there are plenty of other activities that teach the same fundamental skills that most argue sports are important for.
Have you ever seen a friend, a person in your family, or even you who is struggling with baseball. Well that's what I’m trying to solve. My Scientific Question is,” Which type of music will affect the accuracy of the baseball being thrown?” I am trying to figure out how to help those baseball players and how to make their throws better. Because I know from experience that sometimes it’s hard to get a good throw.
Music can be used to describe how we feel on the inside when we ourselves can’t seem to find the words. Music has the power to help us discover ourselves or remember something we may have lost. I think Paulnack is right when he states that music can bring people together. Many people like the same genres and styles and feel something when they listen to it. Music can be found all over the world and can be related to everything around us. Music has been a part of our culture since the beginning of history, it’s constantly evolving giving each generation their on form of expression. Just by appreciating music as an art from we can make connections to those who are different from
First of all, before I even begin, I want to say thank you to all the people that helped me learn more about myself. Anyway, I am a mostly a musical and spatial learner because I love music and it always calms me down. I can also easily remember the tune of the song after I hear it once or twice. I think that this can help me change the world because my dad has went almost everywhere in Asia and has done so many things for the continent with his band and church that he is in. I also want to achieve great things with him. As a global citizen, I think I can change the world with my music. I’ve already been playing in an orchestra (it’s in the Arvada Center), competed in a few festivals to with prizes, so I think I can also achieve all these great things that are still waiting for me. Being a musical learner has helped me made through all these things. I don’t want to give up.
Music; Indefinable by words alone. It is not only something you can hear but what you can feel. It is something your soul is able to reach out and touch. Music also has the power to bring us as humans, together. It is one language spoken by all cultures, sexes, races, age and religions. Music also controls our emotions; it makes us happy, sad, angry, relaxed, etc. We also can express ourselves through music. It can affect our personality.. someone who listens to classical, like Mozart or Bach, all the time is going to be smarter and more intellectual than someone who listens to rap or metal, and someone who listens to more upbeat happier music, like Ska or Swing, is more likely to
Have you ever been treated unfairly? Do you remember that anger and frustration you felt? Well That’s how I feel about music not getting the equality it deserves; music should be treated equally to sports.
