My American Dream Essay

My mother was adopted in the warm sunny state of Florida. It was 1958 and my grandmother and grandfather were both in their early 20’s. My grandfather just arrived back from being away in the Air Force. In the suburbs of Tampa, they lived in a quaint residential neighborhood. Each house had a beautiful green grass lawn and a white picket fence. As you pass by you can see the occasional neighbor watering their lawn in their underwear. The houses came in all shades of neon colors. There were mint green, pink, yellow, and the occasional mint blue. This was the epitome of the American Dream.
In high school, I was in a band. I had a lot of friends. Most of my time was occupied by football game field trips to other high schools, and marching band competitions. My mother was supportive through all my activities. She worked in the concession stands at all the football games with the other band boosters while making new friends of her own as they gossiped and giggled over popcorn and cheesy nachos.
She was a Nurse for 20 years and she loved her job so much. She worked at University Medical Center here in Las Vegas, in the day surgery department while working the easy nine to five schedule with weekends off. Her and her friends would always have pot luck lunch parties, and after work dinner parties. One of my favorite memories Include going to Karaoke restaurants for Christmas.
