Did you spend your best friend’s 21st birthday the way that you thought you would spend it? For some reason or another I thought that on her 21st birthday, we would go out to a club and drink until we pass out; however, my best friend id not into any of that. With that in mind, I decided to let her call the shots that day. Whatever she wanted to do that day it would, if it was within reason, be done. The morning of her birthday, and by morning I mean 12 a.m., I was at her house to wish her a happy birthday. We sat around for an hour before I told her the plan’s that I had made. She asked me if I was also going to pay for everything. I told her that was the plan and that I would do all the driving. “Do not pick boring things to do; I do not want to have called off of work for nothing,” I told her before we went to sleep. I had no idea what she had in store for me the next day. I woke up early so that I could call my boss and tell him I had a case of raging diarrhea. After I got off of the phone, I woke her up and asked her if she wanted to get an early star. “No.” She groaned, pulling the blanket back over her head. I snatched it off and told her to getup. Despite my countless efforts to remove her from bed, she was not going to get up. Hence, I was left tired, sore, and along for the next couple hours. Eventually, we made our way upstairs to eat breakfast before making our way to the mall. I absolutely hate shopping at the mall, but it was not my day; therefore, I did not
“Birthday Party” by Katherine Brush uses literary devices such as tone, point of view, diction, and sensory details to achieve her purpose.
One day a couple came in telling Linda that they forgot to order a cake for their wedding that was two days away. Linda completely understood the situation and of course said yes. Once she told us I was the first one that said I would stay late and help make the wedding cake. Linda and Taylor were both happy because they both knew they needed the help. Later that day when we started baking the cake Linda got a migraine and had to leave and go home, so Taylor and I continued on working on the cake. It was getting kind of late so we found a stopping point. After cleaning up and closing down for the night I hung my apron and said I would see her in the morning. Once I got to my truck I released I forgot my phone inside and luckily Taylor did not lock the door yet. I went back inside to look for where I left it. I could not find it in the back where we were baking nor could I find Taylor, which I thought was a little odd. I headed to the front to see if
It was a cold fall-ish day and school was just around the corner (number 10 on top 10 list of things I hate, and i hate a lot), And on exactly 8:00 my new neighbors called me and said they needed a job in babysitting. I had experience with that so I took the job. 15 minutes later, I walked over to the Garland’s house for the babysitting. When I opened the door, I got a whiff of blueberry pie. I don’t know if it was JUST blueberries, because I smelled other berries too. Standing in the kitchen was Mrs. Garland. I walked over to her and all of a sudden she explained why she was making the pie.
My girlfriend, two best friends, and their girlfriends, which happened to be my girlfriends best friends, had decided to take a road trip to the coast after graduating from high school. It was a five hour drive and everyone had fallen asleep except for me, the driver. About two hours in, my girlfriend woke up and asked me how much longer until we arrived; she was her lively self and had showed no signs of being sick. About thirty minutes later she fell asleep again. After a while we had arrived in the city and went to go check into our hotel. It was about 3:30 when we decided that we should go to the beach and then check out some reasturants on the boardwalk. We got readly into beach attire and walked to the beach which was famous for its beautiful view and white sand. I was planning on tanning along with the others. My girlfriend wanted to go in the water and go boogie boarding. She hadn’’t been to the beach since she was younger and she had longed to be back in the cool ocean water. I watched her as she adventured into the waves. The waves were a little rough because it was high tide slowly changing into low tide. I kept a close eye on her to make sure she wasn’t pushed around by the waves too much. After a while of tanning, I decided I
Third, we are fairly proximate friends now she by chance will bring me places with her. Where we customarily drive was Jewel Osco, which is like 10 minutes away from my grandmother’s. She usually goes there like every other day, but not when the car has no gas. (Compound) She brought me to the fair in Peoria. It was frolicsome only on the first day, for marginally of the time. (Compound) The last time I went there It was just us so it was fun. She bought tickets for her and me, she didn’t buy and other tickets, we kenned we weren’t going to be there for long so It didn’t in reality establish sense to waste Mazuma. So we went on the
I hop out of the shower, wrap myself in my towel and quickly walk to my room to get dressed, not realizing how long I took in the shower. I pull my shirt over my head when I hear the sound of her convertible mustang pull into my driveway and the tires screeching to a stop. I looked out of my bedroom window to see my driveway and I saw that she did not want to come in so I walked downstairs and out the front door to meet her in her car. I reach for the car door, *Chirp*, she unlocked the car door and I got in. When I entered the car I turned to face her, she did not seem as sad as she had on the phone.
Nothing is quite as memorable as getting together with friends and having a night out on the town. Whether you’re celebrating someone’s birthday,
One of our last conversations was about how we needed to beat this. I told her, “Please, don’t let this ruin the best years of your life.” She laughed and told me in a mocking voice, “Please, don’t let this ruin the best years of your life.”
First – she started crying at the dinner table, and apologized, and then on our next three dates, she arrived before I did.
First days were always like this, a reminder and an "I love you" I never think she actually means it, I never think anyone does. I reached to undo my seat belt and quickly heard the satisfying "click". I oh so gracefully tripped out of the car, hoping no one saw, but the time I got up I was hoping to hear my mother call out "Are you ok?" but my mom had already raced away. Oh god, the embarrassment. Even though no one saw, i could feel the blood rush to my cheeks.
The day started off by me screaming at the top of my lungs to wake her up, because she can never seem to get up on her own. After several minutes I felt myself get yanked off of the cord, gosh, does she have any sense of respect? The morning progressed as normal, I got jabbed at, sat on the counter, got jabbed at, got some yogurt spilt on me, almost suffocated because my face was smothered on the bed, and then got jabbed at some more.
When I arrived SB was still at active day. I called active day to see about picking SB up. I picked SB up at active day and SB and I went to Independent Bank to cash her checks. SB and I went to a thrift shop off of crab tree street to look around. SB and I went to eat at New China Buffet. While in the restaurant SB was very respectful and was very polite to others. SB and I had to go back to the house for 7 PM medications. After SB took her medication SB and I went to Walmart to buy her Halloween costume. SB picked out a Gothic Witch for Halloween. SB was well behaved in Walmart as well. On the way back from Walmart SB had an accident in her pants. SB came in and had to be cleaned up. SB took her 9 PM medication and went to bed.
I decided to go. We stopped at Hana Sushi to get my lunch. When I got back to school everyone had planned a surprise party. It was okay I just wish I could have had a better day than I did. I just want to redo the day. When I blew out the candles for the cake I wished that I could redo this day. The cake had my face on it and balloons all around it. Phyllis and Sylvia came up to me and said,” Rachel, we are very sorry for what we did to you. We wish that we could redo this day and make better choices. We're VERY sorry.” “ EVeryone makes mistakes I am just glad you apologized and I am ok.” I ran off and got ready to leave school was almost over.
The time getting to our destination went well with nice greetings and catching up with recent events. However, these good starts are usual with my Mom, only because her past does not get the best of her. My Mom has a horrible way of dealing with the past in the present. She simply drinks her feelings away. So it was just a matter of time when she would have herself a drink and get drunk; however, we never thought she would screw up on her birthday. She knows that the entire family hates it when she drinks because she cannot control herself mentally and physically. My Mom tells us, “I am going to the bathroom now, I will be right back.” The rest of us talked at the nice dark oak table with some sort of dark brown leather booths. Also had a pleasant yellow candle that ended up to be a fake battery powered one. As she returns from the bathroom, walking down a nice scruffy black and brown designed carpet, we noticed something was off right away. Quickly realizing she came back from having a drink, but my sister and I ignored
What mattered was what we did for a close friend, and the happiness we brought to him, even for one night. The night was a success, and we had nobody to thank but ourselves. Chase had an awesome birthday, and we had a pretty kick-ass party in the process. A night that I'll remember for a long time from now, and hopefully a night that Chase will remember, too. Turning twenty-one is an awesome year, and I can't be more excited for the opportunity I get to celebrate mine. It isn't for another two years, but when it comes I hope that it turns out a little something like this
