Reid, 1 Ronald Reid Professor English 101 November 7, 2016 My Career and Professional Goals When I was a child I used to have dental appointments for my caries with my dentist, interestingly I was very curious since I was a kid that how the tiny little bug cause caries in my tooth and then I have to visit the dentist and go through the tedious dental procedures.as I had sweet tooth syndrome I always have caries in my teeth I used to wonder what is the mechanism behind me eating chocolates and the dental caries. I decided to pursue my career in Dentistry. What do these dentists do exactly? According to the United States Department of Labor and Bureau of Statistics, Dentists diagnose and treat problems with patients’ teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. They provide advice and instruction on taking care of the teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health. Dentists held about 151,500 jobs in 2014. Some dentists own their own businesses and work alone or with a small staff. How to Become a Dentist Dentists must be licensed in the state(s) in which they work. Licensure requirements vary by state, although candidates usually must graduate from an accredited dental school and pass written and practical exams. All dental schools require applicants to have completed certain science courses, such as biology and chemistry, before entering dental school.
