My Career As A Registered Nurse

My short-term goals include passing my state boards upon graduation and then finding a fulfilling job as a Registered Nurse (RN) at a major local hospital. Currently, I work at Summa Akron City Hospital and it would be seamless for me if I could obtain a job there as a nurse in one of their intensive care units. After a few years of practice, I plan to get my certification in Critical Care Nursing. Beyond that, my long-term goals for the future are to attend graduate school at University of Akron and receive my Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree in critical care nursing. I would like to work in an intensive care unit during graduate school to better my nursing skills and work toward paying off loans before returning to school. I would love to continue to work at Summa Akron City Hospital where I currently work as Nursing Student Technician. I love the broad scope of the patient population and complex specialized care and treatment services. My clients are varied; this is another attractive quality of the urban populations that large hospitals attract. My favorite areas to work within the hospital are the intensive care units. However, I am humbled by all that I learn when I work on any unit throughout the hospital. At a level 1 trauma hospital like Summa Akron City, I am able to see a great variety of patients. I get to see nurses doing diversely different work on the different units I float to. One universally common thing I always note is the nurses working
