My Choices and Commitments Essay

In pondering what my life will be like when I am finished with college, I have to consider the rapid life-changing events and choices that I am facing now at the age of 17. In a short span of time I have had to make a decision about my future career and, based on that decision, choose where I would go to college. I realize that I am in a crucial part of my life now, and that the commitments I make today will drastically affect my status ten years from now.

It's a known fact that the majority of teenagers' decisions are inadvertently made based on the order of their priorities. Priorities at age 17 are not the same as those that one will have at age 27 or older. Since no one has written instructions for perfect living, bad decisions

I hope to graduate leaving a positive memory of myself and my years in high school, carrying with me no regrets and knowing that I did all I could to set myself up for a bright future.

A few things that I have committed to in the past few years and have placed significant importance on include athletics, academics, school activities, and volunteer and community service activities.

Participating on athletic teams has taught me about teamwork and hard work. Teams require commitment from every member before the team can function at its best. Attendance at practice, even when I didn't feel well paid off in the end. The more I worked to improve the better results I had on the course, the court or the field.

Schoolwork is an important area that required my dedication and commitment. All the time I spent studying has culminated in my being at the top of my class and being rewarded for my work. My parents have always stressed to me that anything worth doing is worth doing right. I remembered this through my high school years and tried to stay committed academically while I participated in other activities.

I feel that my commitments regarding the way I chose to live in front of my classmates
