Working with young children, helping them grow and learn, has always been my biggest passion in life. My philosophy of education has the main focus of knowing that each child that comes into my classroom is unique and deserves a safe and stimulating environment to learn and grow to their full potential. It is essential to create an environment that allows each student to grow physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. In order to create this environment, the most important role I have is to make them feel safe, and to learn about them in all the aspects I mentioned above and really understand all the learning styles within the class. When my students feel comfortable and safe in my classroom they will be able to take risks and share their …show more content…
(2) I will provide plenty of hands on activities, allowing students to take the lead in their learning and for them to explore. This is also important because I strongly believe in the incorporation of group work, because students can learn an immense amount of knowledge from their fellow peers. (3) I will provide choice because the students respond better to learning when given choices, and I believe their curiosity should direct their learning. (4) I will provide a safe environment, so my students can practice their ideas and learn from their mistakes. (5) Lastly, I will provide the use of technology in the class due to the fact that the upcoming generations of students have so much exposure to technology and it will help peak their interest in learning. In order to incorporate these elements I will practice a great amount of classroom management through making the rules of the classroom evident and most importantly modeling the right behaviors to them. I will also be sure to cover the common core standards within the activities and lessons I provide to my
In my future role as an elementary educator, I want to make sure I establish a classroom where each student feels safe and supported, not only by me as a teacher, but by their peers as well. When each student feels comfortable, they will be more eager and excited to learn and take risks in the classroom.
Teaching early childhood children is not a job that should be taken lightly. At this age, you are building the foundation of learning and setting the precedence of what they see school as. It is my role as an educator to take responsibility for every child’s educational development. Each day in an early childhood classroom is full of challenges, but it is also full of laughs, smiles, and enthusiasm to learn. I firmly believe that every child is capable of learning, however, every child learns in their own pace and in their own way. Children need to feel that their teacher cares for them and is enthusiastic about their learning. This will help motivate them and maximize their learning. From there, the sky is the limit in the classroom! As an educator, I need to be conscious of learning and social development in order to reach every child and make sure they succeed. It is my job to see that every student is growing both academically and socially.
2) I believe sharing support of ELLs and ensuring an inclusive approach relies greatly on the teachers themselves, specifically the classroom and ELL teacher. Fairbaim & Jones-Vo mention two things that I believe would work these are collaboratively planning lessons and co-teaching. By planning lessons together, both teachers are on the same page, They each understand the respected needs of their students and able to work together to create ways in which lessons are excited to optimize student success. I also think having another person perceptive is beneficial as their teaching experiences may offer you some guidance. In terms of co-teaching, I think this directly benefits the students. We all have different ways of teaching and I think students
If students do not feel safe in my classroom, whether it is emotionally, physically, or socially, their defense systems will go up and learning will greatly decrease, if not shut down all together. It is important to me that all students, as well as their parent, other teachers, administrators, and people in the community, see me as someone they can approach, who displays warmth and compassion, passionate about teaching their child, and nondiscriminatory. My classroom is also a community where each child can blossom and grow. I allow my students to become responsible members of the classroom community by using strategies such as morning meetings, class jobs, problem-solving skills and positive discipline. In showing children how to become responsible for themselves as well as their own learning, I am giving them the tools to become successful in life, to believe in themselves, and to love
Making children feel safe in the classroom begins with my respect for the child, knowing their name, become familiar with their wants & needs as well as their family lifestyle and culture. By taking time to listen to their stories, embrace their joy and encourage their efforts I show them they are important to
I hope to create an inviting classroom environment for my students by making sure that my classroom is bright and cheery. I plan on doing this by making sure that the decorations and visual aids that I use in my classroom change with the season, but also that they change in subject matter also. I will make sure that all of my students feel welcome and safe by talking to them and listening to what they say and what they don’t say. I hope to also create an atmosphere that parents will want to visit and enjoy being in so that they will in turn want volunteer and help out the students which will also back the students feel more relaxed in. I hope to be allowed to arrange the desk in such a way that the students will feel more free to interact with
Upon graduation, I aspire to become an elementary teacher. In order to do so, I have to complete my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Within this major, creative thinking and problem solving is necessary. I have set out several academic goal while attending my university.
When I walked into my practicum classroom, I already had a vague idea of what my personal philosophy was. After being in the class my philosophy dramatically changed. As individuals we can read many books about teaching, but can never prepare for what teaching is really like. My philosophy relies heavily on cooperative learning, students learn when they are among their peers. With this being said, how students are grouped is crucial, some students cannot work together because they get off task while others work really well together. Routine is another important factor in the classroom because students like to know what they are going to be doing and what they are expected to learn that day. Before this experience I liked the traditional classrooms
Through my experience working with kids and my courses at Austin Community College and Concordia University I’ve established a philosophy of education that I plan to use in my future classroom. Being entrusted with shaping young minds, but also sculpting these children and lighting their way is a huge responsibility that I intend to take the utmost care with. Diving feet head first into teaching and letting it consume me, I plan to fall in love daily with my students and the profession that I feel god has called me to do. Teaching will forever be my calling and my plan is use everything that I have learned so far and continue to learn to help my students become the person that God wants them to be.
While teaching has evolved from the one room schoolhouse, to large buildings, and then from strictly paper and pencil to more technology based, the goals of teaching have not changed. The goal is to keep students engaged, whether in a group or cluster setting, or the teacher is the one who
My goal is to create a healthy, respectful, safe, and supportive developmentally learning environment for children and families. Children safety is one of a school’s top priorities. My goal is to use any prevention strategies to promote children safety. Also to promote learning and create an organize classroom environments where students feel safe. Children should feel safe and value in order to learn. I would display children work activities on the classroom walls to help create a comfortable and welcoming environment.
I believe being a kindergarten teacher, you are the foundation of a child’s learning. I will challenge my future classroom so that they will grow into their full potential, I will fight to help them reach their best, to know their strengths and weaknesses. All my students will express themselves through creativity and find out what they want to strive to succeed in the future. I expect to have clear expectations within my classroom, my behavior strategies will be to insure that students are corrective and not encouraged to imitate bad behavior. I will take full responsibility for the knowledge my students perceive within my classroom. I will teach my students in a fun informative way in order for them to not only hear the lesson but to remember
I believe that education extends far beyond the classroom walls, and involves many more people than students and teachers. People should be learning wherever they go, and should continue learning long after they’ve graduated from high school or college. Education isn’t something that can be quantified with tests or report cards, but is instead something that people carry with them. It’s a survival pack for life, and some people are better equipped in certain areas than in others. People with a solid education are prepared for nearly anything, as they will be able to provide for their own physical, emotional, and aesthetic needs.
“The assertiveness is a clear affirmation that both teachers and students are to be treated with respect” (Purkey, 2004, p. 100).
The early childhood classroom is normally the first educational experience that a child receives. This will provide as a learning stepping stone that they will need in order to excel in elementary school and through adulthood. The children will rely on you to give them the education they need in order for them to learn and grow physically, socially, and cognitively. Being a teacher you should focus on a child’s natural ability to learn and guide them towards their full potential.
