College is a huge step to take in life and causes lots of change in one’s life. In a way, it stealthily teaches you how to be independent and breaks you away from the sheltered life you’re in and throws you into a whole new world. When I think about my life so far, and what I have ahead, I now know that I am ready to take this step in life. Growing up and moving around a lot, I had to become adaptable to new situations and environments. This is a genuine skill that has become a true aspect to my life. My best adaption was entering high school. That’s where my interests truly flourished. I joined marching band and swim. These decisions changed my high school life in a big way. I enjoyed showing up every day and it gave me confidence.
The book The Prince of Los Cocuyos can relate to my transition into college. The first time Richard Blanco came to America and felt out of place. College is all about experinces and getting to know yourself and learning who you really are. It is hard leaving high school and having to transition to college. Being used to teachers reminding you about assingments to now going online and having to remind yourself. As I begin to start my college experience I thought college would be easier no one telling you what you can and cant do, but its really not easier it might honestly be harder. Having to do so many assignments all at once. I feel like college is all about self motivation and being able to push yourself to work hard. Which I actually am
College is a place many things can happen. Some people say that college is a place where you find who you are and that it is also where you get to experience the real world and you get to meet new people and become an adult. On the other hand, people say college is a stressed filled place where students get four hours of sleep a night and you become in debt with college fees. And then there’s the few people that say it’s all about partying and just having fun. What is true about college is that it’s a place where students continue their education for hopefully a future career and you meet new people and experience new things too.
College is such an environment that it allows me to have freedom to choose my own classes, and have opportunities that allow me to better myself as a person. Through programs like those that help someone study abroad or complete a service project,
Today college is going through changes. The economic instability throughout the countries, parents have pondered the questions, is college a good investment for my child. There is a great debate throughout the country regarding college education. Some people argue that college is not for all students and most students will not benefit in going to college. From grade school to high school students are being prepared in attending college. Teachers and academic counselors tell students that in order to be successful in life that a person must obtain a higher education. Everyone has different opinions regarding if college is for every student, but with today’s technologies and the high demands of new jobs, there is one main question that needs to be answered. Does college still matters?
Going to college is one of the most biggest experiences a person could have that becomes a remarkable memorable part of their life. It is not just about furthering education, but having different experiences throughout your college years that other might not get to have. Since this is my first year of college, I have not gotten the full familiarity of every part of college, but have had some great times so far. There are several things I have learned from college, but there are still many more things it can still teach. Everything a person goes through, changes them in certain ways and those aspects that help them learn better about what they want from life.
I have only been in college for a few weeks, but it has already changed me as a person. I have gone through a few hard tests, leaving a classroom in a full blown panic attack and I have even had a complete breakdown in the middle of the hall but I know in the end it’s all worth it. I have learned that growing up is just a harsh reality that sometimes we don’t want to face, but we all have to do it and college is a
Transitioning from high school to college will not be an easy task. From the start, we were told that we shape and mold our identities from a young age, but that it's easier said than done. Moving from one country to another, was a great big deal for me. My family and I knew education was important, but were offered little opportunities so my mom had to make many sacrifices in order for me to achieve my goal of a long and successful career.
College is something that most people fear, love, or choose to not even go. I never thought during high school, I would end up going to college and that it would of turned my life around. Everyone has the dark tunnels they have to go through before they eventually find that bright light at the end of the tunnel. I was going through that dark tunnel in high school and then college ended up pulling me out and saving me.
College has been the first time in my life where I have been able to have large amounts of control over my routine and the spaces I inhabit each day. I am lucky, because at this point most of the places where I spend a lot of time are tied to things I really enjoy. For example, I'm a double major in geography and global studies. I am also a member of Get Global.
Transitioning into college and facing the changes that come with it can be a challenging endeavor, especially due to the pressures of today's society. Highly influenced by social media, it has become remarkably difficult to evade the influences and evolving norms of society. I myself have already encountered situations where my values were tested and I was pressured to change. Rather than giving in, I use those situations to strengthen myself by reevaluating my morals and showing myself that I can endure anything as long as I stick to my values. I have always been taught the importance of education, faith, and honesty, so learning that Point Loma Nazarene University holds the essentially the same values and standards that I do, further proves
Higher education has a variety of connotations. For some, it was the gateway out of their small town, a ticket to freedom and independence. For others, it was party central that was inconveniently punctuated by Mondays and term papers. For me, I want college to be the place where I can find myself and the sort of person I will be as an adult. I will take all the baby steps of adulthood, while still being intellectually stimulated every day with new people and new knowledge. By surrounding myself with people different from myself, signing up to take classes that truly interest me, even if they're outside my major, taking initiative concerning my finances, and making genuine connections with my professors, I plan on becoming the independent and well-rounded women I always envisioned.
When I attended college, I had the opportunity to become more independent and to take on new responsibilities. I have always relied on my parents for support, but at college I was on my own and I had to strive harder. College had taught me that it will help me to become more mature and will help me grow in my character. Right now, I have an accurate idea concerning what I want to do with my life. I am currently a full-time student in the pursuit of becoming an Accountant.
College was something I never thought was for me. I always thought that since my parents and brother did not attend I would not either. I hated high school more than anything; but while I was there I learned I love writing and learn about photography. I used to sit in a back hallway away from where most of the students went just to write about anything and everything I could think of until the bell rang. When I moved to Massachusetts I wanted to apply for college. I decided that even though high school was difficult I wanted to learn more. Massasoit professors as well as the students then showed me that I have talent and can make something of myself if I tried hard enough. Thanks to them and the amazing students there, I now have my associates

College for many young adults is a time of growth. Kids become adults, teenagers learn how to live on their own, and students pave their own path for the future by gaining precious knowledge. However, college for me has been not only a new chapter in my life but a new book, altogether. Before I was in college, I was wasting away at a part-time job, depressed and suicidal. College has given me a purpose and a future. At first, I was extremely nervous and ridged when I attended my first semester of college. Now, I look forward to attending class and working on assignments. Because of college, I’ve become aware of what I’ve been missing out on, what I can accomplish if I put my mind to it, and meeting new people.
